I was so impressed with the service I received when I walked in without an appointment. I passed Don's Key & Lock many times living in the Mission District but never checked it out. So I thought I'd check out their prices on a door handle with key lock entry. There were so many different styles and options to choose from. I was impressed with the selection. (Way better than HomeDepot. ) The salesman was very prompt to assist me. When I explained what I was looking for, he recommended a much more cost saving solution. Rather than purchase a new door lock, he was able to change the tumbler of my existing door lock. He did it right there on the spot and all I had to pay was for new keys. Don's Key & Lock looks out for your best interest. I found their service to be professional, honest, knowledgable and convenient. I locked myself out of my house and car by forgetting my house keys not too long ago. It was hot outside and late in the afternoon (close to 6pm). Fortunately, I had my cell phone and called the nearest locksmith. A young lady answered and was very polite and patient with me. She made every effort to try in squeeze me in, knowing they were about to close. I didn't think they would be able to help me when she said she had to call me back. About 10 minutes later, I was surprised to received a phone call from Don himself, who took the time out to service my request. It took him about 15 minutes to get to me and a few seconds to get the door opened! Now that's service! When he asked me for payment all I had was a credit card. I was so embarrassed but he was such a nice man he told me not to worry about it right now. Just to stop by his shop and pay then. Wow! I would definitely use them again! My rental car was broken into and the thieves stole everything - including both sets of the key to my car which was sitting in the parking garage at National Airport in Washington DC. Fortunately I was able to get the key code and 10 minutes before they closed, called Don's - I was half way across town, but they waited until I showed up and handed me a key. I was locked out of my apartment and i called another locksmith they quoted me - -when they arrived they changed the price to over - - -. Claiming my lock had to be drilled and that i need to pay for parts and for him to drill the lock. After refusing to pay that price i called Dons they came out with in the hour and opened my door in under a minute with a charge of - - which i had no problem paying. You should speak to whoever was driving your company van on 10/4/2024 at 4:10 in the excelsior down Mission street. They were driving like an absolute maniac, speeding, tailgating, weaving between lanes. They were speeding and just narrowly missed slamming into someone riding a scooter in the right hand land. I like your business and will continue to support it however you should talk to whoever is driving your company van and tell them that they are representing you as a business and it is a bad look to be driving dangerously through neighborhoods and almost running people over. read more

Great and fast service. I called on Labor Day weekend to get my home re-keyed. I was told a tech would call me back with a quote. I wasn't expecting to get a call back this holiday weekend... I actually got a call back in 15 minutes!! With a quote $65 cheaper than another locksmith. The service tech was able to come the same day! He gave a courtesy call when he was about 15 minutes away. I took my mortise lock to THREE different lock shops in the city and finally wound up at a place on 22nd and mission. the guy their told me the only person that can help me is dons (which i was trying to avoid due to some negative reviews). reluctantly i stopped by. i was greeted by a young man named robert who was quite helpful in solving my problem and had all the parts needed to do so. 30 minutes later and my lock was good as new.
