We popped into Don't Tell Mama randomly for the $10 cosmo happy hour and were really impressed with the food! The burger was super yummy on a pretzel bun, and we enjoyed the pretzel too. The crowd skews older and they have a pianist singing and taking requests. It's a nice, calm vibe during the day!

09/2024: Had to check out the local piano karaoke bar scene! First thing we see is the bartender belting out Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin from behind the bar. The talent from the employees here is mind blowing! Patrons can also get up and sing but the emphasis is more so on the staff, which was fine by me. Had some time to kill before our show so stopped by for happy hour. $7.50 well drinks. Guac and chips. $2 oysters. Guac tasted like it was made in house. Went to see our show and then came right back after. They switch pianists after 9 PM and that's when the real party starts. Drinks are $20 apiece but they were strong! French fries and NY Cheesecake were delicious. We had an amazing time at Don't Tell Mama and would definitely return!

Such a great bar. I came with my friend just for a drink and they have live music and the bartender and the server started singing and I felt like I was in a Disney movie ahaha So cuteeeee Loving it.

Great performance by Marissa Mulder and Bill Zeffiro

I had the pleasure of attending today's American Songbook Show at Don't Tell Mama, featuring the incredibly talented Marissa Mulder and Bill Zeffiro -- and it was an absolute smash! Their performance was everything cabaret should be: warm, engaging, and full of heart. What made the afternoon even more special was sharing the magic of live performance with two local public middle school choruses, many of whom were experiencing their very first show. Watching their excitement and curiosity was truly inspiring. A huge thank-you to the Cy Walter Foundation and Sophie Gerson Healthy Youth for championing this event and helping bring the arts to NYC middle school students. Don't Tell Mama continues to prove why it's such a beloved spot in the cabaret community. Highly recommend catching a show here. The environment is classic cabaret, and the service is excellent.

Had a great time at this place. Love that the wait staff and bartenders join in on the fun and sing. Surprised that I didn't know more songs, but it was still a great time. Expect to be packed in line sardines, but it allows for some joint camaraderie. Great staff. Great times.

Totally started off on the wrong foot here. We booked Kitchen 46 so that we would be guaranteed seats here for the nighttime performance. Before dinner, I even popped by to remind them that we are a party of 8 and would kindly request a seat near the piano if possible. Once dinner was over, we were seated in the back room totally separate with zero view of the piano and the performers. Needless to say we were livid since we did everything they asked by making sure we had dinner at their restaurant for guaranteed seats. Of course after expressing our frustration and disappointment, they told us they would give us the next available table. Luckily it only took a couple mins and we were able to switch seats before our first round of drinks arrived. Lesson learned is always speak up when you think you're right. The staff was being super courteous about situation and understood why we were upset. Thank you staff! And now on to the real review! This place is hella FUN! Omg-I underestimated how much fun I would have with my girlfriends. The staff here are all so talented and their voices are unbelievable. Even the guests are invited to go up and sing as well. You can request songs for a tip. The venue requires a two drink minimum. Alcoholic or non alcoholic. The drinks are STRONG! Not sure if this is to hype up the crowd more but we were definitely hyped. Piano bars might be my new go to activity.

Vocals and entertainment I have to say are AWESOME!!!!! That I would rate a 5! However, the food isn't that great. We ordered chicken tenders and some desserts. The desserts were a big miss especially the carrot cake. The drinks were okay, just on the pricey side. I would still come back and order drinks and listen to the amazing talent here. But I would eat elsewhere first.

Fun piano bar vibes and some wannabe Broadway singers even jump in to belt out a song. I was especially impressed by the bartender who had a great voice!

0 Stars. This place should be shut down and the people who own it should be arrested. A complete and total scam. I only came here to see my friend perform but was forced to pay a 20 dollar minimum when there for drinks alone. On top of that i dont drink alcohol so i had to get soda meaning they charged 10 dollars for each soda. The sodas were flat and in small glasses . the place was stuffy and small. I downloaded yelp again after a while just because of how absolutely disgusting this place was. The waitresses were snarky and rude. Awful . I included here a picture of the 10 dollar flat soda. Update: They tipped themselves and there wasn't any say in it. Real scoundrels

Had a night time cocktail prior to bedtime with my dinner date on a recent work trip to New York City. It was my first time to a piano bar located right on Restaurant Row or 46th Street in Hell's Kitchen between 8th & 9th Avenues. It's a really cute and quaint lounge for those wanting to listen to live show tunes performed by local broadway actors and actresses. Their voices are amazing and even the bartenders would sing live as they are making cocktails for customers. Their kitchen does serve food as well as desserts, but neither of us ordered anything from the kitchen as we came straight from dinner earlier. My friend she ordered a glass of wine as I was in the mood coffee drink with Bailey's, which The Latte Boy seems perfect for me! I think if you have a large group of people that you may have a challenging time fitting your whole entire party with you. Although the staff that greets you at the door will readjust tables and chairs to accommodate your group depending on how many other people are already in the bar. Will definitely go back again on another trip and maybe request some songs by the performers. It's a lot of fun and you'd probably bring more friends and stay out late too!

Dueling piano bar at its funnest! Sunday night this place was jam packed and so much fun. Great relaxed laid back atmosphere, nice service, great bar And nice selection of food. The music was great and even some of the servers were singers. As the night went on it just got busier. We had a few rounds of drinks, the bubbly was plain good! And my friends had some fun colorful champagne cocktails. We got a charcuterie which hit the spot, and a great chocolate raspberry mousse, and we just had a great time. Lively , fun, great food and drinks. The music was excellent, and they honor requests. Was a great end to our day!

Stopped by for a quick drink before a show. The space is cute with live music, with a tiny menu for food and drink. From the other reviews, I think we got an off-night because the service and drinks were pretty lackluster. However, we enjoyed the live music as we were chatting.

    Is there a cover charge?

No there is not, but you will have to order drinks while there.

Hoping to visit the restaurant on July 3. Is there an update on whether it has reopened? Haven't been able to reach anyone via phone.

We were there two weeks ago, they are alive and well. Just stop in.

Has the Restaurant Reopened? Please note the date today is 3/30/22. I'm traveling in 15 days and so want to go here. Specifically the Restaurant not just the Bar food.

They do have food........Good bar food at that even ! I had a salad and some fries.

How loud does this place get at night? Thinking of renting the apartment above it.

Very, very loud. But I do not now how the noise travels to the apartments above.

Is this 21 and up only?

    Yes

Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. The shepherd's pie is insanely salty and it's very off-putting. It was inedible. I was looking forward to having it but I would not in good faith recommend this to anyone. The buttermilk tenders is supposed to come with pickled shallots and marinated green beans. We didn't get the pickled shallots or the marinated green beans, which was a shame. The chicken tenders by themselves didn't have much flavor. It also is unfortunate paying $17 for what was considered a small plate and just getting the chicken tenders. The Asian-sesame wings were okay. Also, didn't have much flavor and weren't that impressive. There was also still hair on some of the pieces of chicken, so the chicken could have been cleaned better. They have fries and hand cut fries. The regular fries were soggy. Should have went with the hand cut fries. The tater tots were okay. I was told that the chicken sandwich was good. It came with a little side of rustic chips. I would not come back for the food but I would possibly go back to try a drink if I was in the area. The drink menu looked pretty good.

My favorite was the pork chop (cognac, sweet prunes, bacon, rosemary) -- the sweet and soft texture of the prune was melted in my mouth like fat, and the pork was tender, with the rosemary also coming through. The vodka rigatoni was a skip, somewhat bland and one-note, we ended up putting some of the truffle butter and garlic aioli from the fries to make it more flavorful. Everything from the food to the drinks and exceptional service made this a wonderful dining experience. We had such a great time and can't wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I was lead to this great spot for a late dinner and cocktails on a Friday night. The hostess was really friendly and quicky sat us at a two seater near the bar, which we appreciated. The ambiance was light and friendly and they even had a DJ playing all the good jams! I think I danced a bit, (definitely liquid courage). The DJ read the room and created a fun ambiance. The waitress came over a few minutes later and quickly took our drink and meal order. We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back!

They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour drinks in the MoMA/Midtown West area.
