So amazing! We went twice in one day!!! The 4 of us, doing a walk-in ferry ride to Friday Harbor, each grabbed a couple of donuts in the morning. I just wasn't to start by saying that I know I didn't give it 5 stars. I don't want to give this place anything less than 5. But every time I come in, my favorites are sold out. Literally, by noon. If you have a favorite, you gotta get in before then or you're gunna have a bad day. Came in right before closing and I was surprised to see that they still had a lot of donuts left...and that the cashier was still friendly even though I'm sure she was ready to go home lol. We got a glaze twist and a maple bar. I was thinking to get the Bigfoot donut which was probably the same as the bar..just in the shape of a foot but I didn't think they were as cute looking as I saw in some photos haha. Visiting the area and looking for my donut fix. My two favorite, which I almost always get, are the apple fritter and the chocolate old fashion. Same here. She rang it up as $5.10. I was absolutely disappointed with my visit. I have been going to the donut house for years and always had a pleasant experience. Not this time. Ever table was dirty, I had to ask to have it cleaned so my kids could eat their donuts. They have no access to the restroom for patrons, even Though they are serving food and drinks. EW. It's extremely rare to see a donut shop of all things, open 24/7, in small towns. Normally everything closes at 5 or 6pm or even earlier :-o. It seemed kind of dirty, though I didn't see anything explicitly gross. There was only one person working when I showed up here. She barely looked up from her phone when I walked in, but wasn't rude or anything. Just seemed bored. Then she told me there was no discount for buying a dozen donuts (what?). So since I was with a big group, we got 10 donuts of a wide variety. The donuts were a nice size and seemed fresh, but varied widely in terms of taste. Some of them seemed oddly dry. I would recommend the various filled donuts (cream or jelly) and the apple fritter. Would not recommend the yeast-raised rings. For what it's worth, I was with a group of 7 people and we took the leftover donuts home -- 2 days later we still had a couple of donuts getting stale in the box and just threw them out. Overall, it's a hit-or-miss experience here. I imagine that once you figure out their rhythm, you can figure out which donuts taste the best and at what times of day. Open 24 hour but when we got there around 7:45p Saturday evening they were sold out and wouldn't have anything until 10p. We decided to come back Sunday morning. The place is rather small. When there is a line, it's hard to get by the few tables they have in there. They had a great selection of donuts and some looked like they were pumped up with steroids, they were that big. Donut House makes my favorite donuts in the world. In particular, I dream about their maple bars/bowties. They are SO DELICIOUS. I am literally salivating right now, just thinking about them. I have never had a donut here that I didn't love, though. For example, I'm not usually an apple fritter kinda person, but the gigantic apple fritters here are INCREDIBLE and I will eat one all by myself. What really stands out for me at Donut House is the amazing texture of their raised donuts, like their maple bars. They remind me of Challah or a pull apart bread, so moist and soft and with a glorious, not overly sweet flavor. They taste so fresh. There are very few donut shops that achieve this texture, in my experience. Also, their jelly filled donuts are filled with the most delicious, fresh tasting fruit flavor I have ever experienced in a donut. Again, as with the dough itself, these fillings are not overly sweet. You don't just taste sugar; the flavors are much more balanced and complex than that. Service isn't overly friendly here but I don't mind that at all. They are efficient, get your order right, ARE OPEN 24/7, and make the best donuts ever. Every time I'm in Anacortes, I insist on stopping in here. They have the BEST blueberry fritters that are the size of my face, and to that matter, most of their donuts are about twice the size of a regular donut! They have a huge variety of donuts including some I've never seen elsewhere. The prices are very reasonable seeing as these donuts are huge, tasty, and fresh! There is also coffee sold here. Delicious!! The dough was dense and moist, but not too dense, not soggy and undercooked. The filling with flavorful and generous. The cream bar was filled from both ends, as it should be. Every the bear claw had a filling, which I wasn't expecting at all! I thought the blueberries would be worked into the dough, but instead it was jammed full if a blueberry filling (probably just a commercial blueberry pie filling, but it was still good).
