I was in the area for work and it was my last morning there so I promised my son I would bring him donuts home. We love to shop local and try new spots. Initially I went to another place but they were closed for the holiday weekend/week. So thankful that my map and Yelp lead me here. The parking lot is very small so that is something to keep in mind when planning a visit. I can see at peak donut times that would be cumbersome. Inside was small also but felt homely. The staff were friendly and helpful and even suggested some things to me that were her personal favorites. Only draw back is I think I was over charged but because of me being in a rush and being overwhelmed with the variety of things I didn't worry about it because I had an hour long drive back home I needed to get on the road and get to work. My personal favorite was the cherry and cream cheese twist. It was delicious and I wish I had gotten more of those. My son loved the donuts. He wanted to eat them all and I had to hide the box lol read more

We were impressed with the selection of donuts. We bought a dozen donuts and they were delicious. They were super fresh. The filled donuts were overfilled. The front cabinet contained a delicious looking assortment of specialty donuts and rolls. I would definitely buy from here again. The only issue was one of the employees acted like he didn't want to be there. He put his hand in his face like he was bored while helping a customer and just had a poor attitude . This local donut shop doesn't compare to the national brands (at least Dunkin). Donut King's donuts are yeast based and not mushy or cake like and they don't immediate make you feel like you've eaten something awful for you. Donut King has wide variety of donuts with candies and sprinkle toppings with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate glazes (my favorite is the oreo donut). Donut King also bakes huge cinnamon rolls, brownies, muffins, bagels and breakfast sandwiches and has a drive thru. I first ate at the Minneola location and become hooked. Recently, I saw an ad on social media stating Donut King was making a delivery to S.R. 50 and U.S. 41 in Hernando County (nearly an hour away from their store) and had to order some donuts. I ordered a dozen for myself at 9.98 a box (excellent price) the same price as they charge in their store and a big donut that spelt DAD for fathers day. My only complaint is that my DAD donut indicated it would have chocolate chips sprinkled on top but they delivered it with only a chocolate glaze. I emailed the shop and gave my order and they sent me an invoice to my email. I showed up at the drop off spot on the date they listed and found two vans full of donuts and a line of hungry customers. Donut King said they'll be doing these deliveries every two weeks for the foreseeable future and I'm so happy they are! Fingers crossed they build large customer base here and decide to open a location in Brooksville! So, if you want a dozen of these delectable donuts, it's almost $25! They really need to reevaluate the way they charge people for their bacon donuts. We drove 40 minutes after a recommendation from a neighbor at our RV resort and it was so worth it. The facility itself is not impressive, it's a little hole in the wall that you could easily miss if you're not looking for it, but their pastries are the best I've had in decades. We ordered a dozen donuts and a couple specialty pecan danish-type things. They have a wide range flavors, frostings, fillings, and toppings and although we were there at 11 AM everything tasted like it was just made, super fresh. Even the blueberry cake donuts were moist, light and fluffy with lots of natural blueberry flavor. We had another one just now at almost 9 PM and it tasted just as fresh as they did hours ago. If you want the best doughnuts, come here. All are homemade, fresh daily. Not like DD, where they are frozen. These are the biggest and best you can find. We tried the Maple Bacon, cinnamon rolls, (both kinds), and one of their creations with cheesecake in it. All were great. There are so many more too try. We were disappointed. I told some friends about this place we just had to try because it was on YouTube and looked amazing. We drove about 20 miles to get there and had cream filled and custard filled donuts. There was almost no filling in any of them which made them dry and not near as good as local chain donuts. read more

I love these donuts. BUT I went to the donut king location in Leesburg, Florida, Lake County, on Saturday 10.23 at 2:30pm. (So that the owner knows who to blame.) I tried to contact the company several times on their website I have been there several times and have alway been pleased. Yesterday I was treated so rudely. We said hello and the woman behind the counter just stared at us. We had a question and she promptly told us that she was there to sell donuts, not to say hello, good bye, or anything else. She wouldn't answer questions and didn't acknowledge when we told her we wanted our order in the same box. Just a yes, no, kiss my foot would be nice. My friend told her what he wanted, I told her 1 glazed bavarian cream and one of the fancy pastries, don' t remember the name. When she put them in the box I asked her for another bavarian. She couldn't have been more put out. When we got home we found that the second donut was jelly filled. When I checked my email I found that I had also been charged for for 3 fancies instead of 2. The products in this store are fantastic. The nasty stares, rude replies and generally bad attitude no thank you. Everyone is entitled to have a bad day, this was a bad month, at least.
