Just half of a boudin kolache. Look at that filling, y'all!
Lindsay B.

Y'all. I just did a bad, bad thing! I've been nursing a migraine for two days and just wanted some comfort food. I'd heard good things about this place, but hadn't gone and tried them out until today. Parking lot was empty, but it was also almost 10 AM presumably after their morning rush. Given I was still in pajamas, I hit up the super convenient drive through. In order to do this place justice, I wanted to do it right and try a little of everything! I ordered a boudin kolache, a buttermilk cake donut, chocolate iced donut and an apple fritter. First of all, the lady at the window was incredibly pleasant and even chuckled as I ordered (we both knew I was being a total carbie this morning!). The boudin kolache was amazingly flavorful! I also didn't expect it to have as much filling as it did, but wow! The apple fritter was larger than life, y'all. It seriously fit across my lap! It was delightfully crispy in all the right places and had tons of apple cinnamon flavor and just the right amount of filling. The rest of the donuts (chocolate iced and buttermilk) were seriously some of the best I've ever tried. Kid you not! Another point to notate is that I assumed some things would be cold given they probably don't make as many of them. WRONG! Every single donut and pastry was warm, if not hot. And finally! The lady at the window gave me an extra glazed donut and two donut holes as some lagniappe! Call it what you will, but this place is a GEM of a Donut Palace, that's for sure! If you're ever in Gonzales, don't short change yourself, hit up Donut Palace and let them make your belly as happy as mine is right now!

Oh my goodness! This place is worth a trip to Gonzales just for the jalapeño kolaches alone but when you get a taste of their glazed donuts, you're going to be mad that you haven't found them sooner lol. The moment you sink your teeth in them, your taste buds begin salivating uncontrollably; your face makes this look of, "I can't believe this is a donut!" It's a very light, airy type donut, similar to Krispy Kreme, not the dense or caked style. The kolache, which I've never had before is oh so delicious. If you love boudin, you'll love this sweet and savory pastry wrapped in a light, sweet buttered bread. Each bites warrants another and another until you're eventually looking at your fingertips. Try them out if you're ever on Burnside Road in Gonzales, LA!!

What the hell is this? Worst kolaches ever. These had to be day old trash. Bread just crumbled apart and the price for those was bonkers.

These donuts are a happy medium for me between Mary Lee and Krispy Kreme. Will be back.

I was so impressed by this little place. We saw the sign for coffee house or McDonald's and we took…read morea chance on coffee house and we were not disappointed. The bathrooms are clean even if one of the doors doesn't latch well. We tried the chocolate Bavarian cream stuffed beignets and the regular beignets and the cafe au lait. The beignets are the best I had anywhere. They were a nice size and they were light and fluffy and covered in powdered sugar. The cafe au lait was just ok, I think we liked it better the cafe au lait mixed half and half with the French roast coffee for a stronger coffee flavor. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful and we don't wait too long to take our food with us. You can sit and eat in also but we were on our way through. We loved how coffee house is tucked into a little antique shop Cajun village. It has Cajun country music playing and there are stuffed gators around and lot of interesting antiques. I wish it were closer to more things to do, but if you're on the road from Nola to Baton Rouge it is a definite must! I really hope to go back with more time and try more interesting things.
