It might not look like much from the outside, but trust that Good Morning Donut deserves all the praise it gets. They have kept the classic donut shop of the 1980s feel alive all while keeping customers in good spirits every morning. This woman-owned and Asian-owned spot always makes me happy each time I pass it. And of course, the donuts are excellent. The place is tiny and there is no seating. It's strictly takeout and/or drive thru, the latter of which is the preferred method for most. There are only a couple of dedicated parking spots, but it is at the tail end of a mini-strip mall. Their service is always fabulous, greeting folks with smiles, and making everyone feel extremely welcome. The donuts themselves are a classic batch of glazed, iced, filled, and cake, with specialty items like donut holes, eclairs, and cinnamon rolls. While there is a large sign for a "croissant sausage", they also are among the only donut shops that serve kolaches. Their small variety of kolaches would make any Texan proud. After taking a bite of the croissant sausage, I understood why they have their own sign. It's flake wth a nice crunch and the sausage was juicy throughout. The jalapeño and sausage is addicting and has a nice kick. I appreciated the kick from the bits of jalapeños. I'm particularly drawn to cake donuts, so their old fashioned is probably going to be my favorite. They're generous with the donut holes, leaving in a few extra for every dozen. Overall, the prices are on point, the service is phenomenal, and the food is simple but good. As a neighborhood joint, Good Morning Donuts definitely has my vote for one of the best small businesses in Baton Rouge. read more

I stopped here one day on my way to work. The prices are very fair and I got so much food for the price! Their donuts are very thick and dense which is very different from most donut places. When they're warmed they are PERFECTION. If they're cold they're a little too thick but nothing some milk can't help with! Their kolaches are the best I've ever had. The sausage is fully encased in the dough and this is something I didn't know I needed. It was fantastic. I haven't been back and I'm very sad about that fact but plan to rectify that soon! I think this hole-in-the wall donut shop is a real eye opener! Who would have thought I would find the best croissant kolache (piggy in the blanket ) here! Croissant was super soft and flaky! They did use a sausage that encompasses jalapeño and cheese in it...but bc of the soft flaky croissant...I will forgive them! Now this is the first place I've been to so far that actually added jalapeños to their sausage, cheese, jalapeño kolaches! I really wish everyone would do this bc I want to taste the jalapeños itself! Donut holes were ok..prob softer if warmer. Haven't tried their donuts yet. Stopped by this shop after seeing a couple of reviews. I didn't realize this place was just right around the corner from my place! It's a small shop that offers a drive-thru, great for those who are trying to be in and out/on-the-go. I ordered a half dozen glaze donuts. They came out warm, the service was quick and the cashier was very friendly. On top of that, the donuts are so yummy! I am officially sold that this might be the best donuts I have ever had. I order an eclair, Apple fritter, jalapeño Kolache and all are amazing! I love the thin crisp Apple fritter the most because most fritters are huge and almost to doughy inside this one is Chefs kiss perfect for my liking. The eclair was also good... the donut base was amazing and I loved how they didn't over load it with the chocolate topping but a little more filling would have been even better. I work across the street from this little hole in the wall and i must say they serve some really good doughnuts. The doughnuts are always fresh and hot and they are mouth watering. I almost have to get some every time i come to work. The ladies are kind and they move fast, i got 12 chocolate covered doughnuts holes for close to three dollars which is great! As a donut shop, the donuts are great. I got two glazed donuts and a kolache. The donuts are nice and just the right amount of density. As for the kolache, I really enjoyed it as the pastry used reminded me of a thicker croissant with saysage. The pastry was light and crispy. I also tried the bubble tea - taro milk tea and match milk tea with tapioca. Overall it's okay, the drink dissociates a little bit of left to sit. Taste is similar to other bubble tea shops. Overall staff is nice and as a donut shop it is good. Will try a smoothie instead of bubble tea next time. read more
