Food: This hidden gem on Avenue U in Sheepshead Bay has some of the best doughnuts in NYC! Doughnuts are always fresh and soft. They have many varieties including chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry frosted with rainbow sprinkles, coconut, apple crumb, chocolate glazed, glazed, sugar, boston bream, jelly, bavarian cream, powdered jelly, eclairs, crullers, and more. Doughnuts are $1 each or 13 for $12 (buy 12, get 1 free). They also have other pastries, muffins, brownies, and more, but their doughnuts are the best. This place serves savory diner-type food and breakfast sandwiches, but I wouldn't recommend it. I only come here for the doughnuts. Service: Service here is a hit or miss; some staff are friendly, but others are horrible. Ambiance: This is a very old and run down place because it's been here for decades. There is counter seating and a few tables on the side. It's not good for large groups. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for their doughnuts only!

I've held off on this review because I really wanted to gatekeep. But, in the spirit of Gemini season, I shall be nice and put yall on. This spot is my go to for cheap and tasty food. Whether it's donuts, agua frescas, fried chicken, a bacon egg and cheese, tacos, or a steak dinner, Shaikhs never misses really. And you cannot beat their prices man. It's sooooo refreshing to see a spot that's been a neighborhood staple for years not raise prices dramatically, even with the inflation going on. I've ordered quite a lot over the years so adding every picture would be a chore, but my most recent meal was their ribeye steak dinner with yellow rice and salad. $20! I did put it in the air fryer so it would be piping hot and added some of my favorite steak seasoning on top (just cause I'm extra) but it was a decent meal as it was. Don't get me started on their fried chicken. I ordered it once on a whim, it was so cheap that I felt even if it turned out to be terrible, it wouldn't be that much of a loss. $6 on Doordash for 3 pieces. THAT SHIT WAS DELICIOUS. It's been a staple in my household whenever I'm not in the mood to spend $30 at Jollibee. Idk wtf they're doing in there man, how they manage to pump out so many different types of food while maintaining consistency and good flavor is a feat.

Great tasting fresh donuts. We got a whole bunch for my school for the staff and they were absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend.

This was my first time here, honestly was disappointed. Environment was quiet. Line was midway out the door. It was noted the decor was outdated. The counter tops and floors have chips. The floor appeared it needed to be mopped. We only got a dozen they had 12 donuts for 12 dollars with an additional one free. The lady that was collecting my donuts was observed slightly impatient and didn't allow for corrections to switch out donuts. The donuts were not anything special. In the dozen we got 1/2 were soft and the other 1/2 were not as fresh. The flavors were plain even though we got a variety. I unfortunately will not be going back.

Besides 11am (?), what other times do fresh batches of donuts come out?

Its just the primary batch, between 11 and 1-2pm. They don't bake more all day long, whatever they make is what they put out till sold out.

It's colossally big and very, very easy to chew on without needing something hot and wet like coffee or tea. But I do think it would be better with a drink. What I've also noticed is that they really prioritize the decorations on the donuts, and I think that also brings out their peak service. I was served during the Governors Ball where there were a lot of people and a lot of vendors. They handled their service very well. I couldn't tell you the exact location of the place because it was a vendor, but I assume it's probably somewhere I would conveniently go to. I definitely wanna go to the Brooklyn location.

So so chewy your jaw will have to get to work; i can see how some ppl wouldn't like it bc it's too chewy and dense but i loved it rating: 4/5 - if i take into consideration of the whole menu, this would probably be 3/5 but since i always just get the scallion pancake and pastries, and they have consistently been delectable, it's a solid 4! - i just love the texture and flavor a lot especially the xia - the ambiance is super hippie and chill; it's a perfect spot for breakfast and quick bites; they also got this bar section with a tv playing old school films giving retro vibes - their pastries were all delicious with some unique selection - service has consistently been amazing; workers there were all happy and chill vibes - definitely give it a try but start from the xia and pastries for sure IG: @nom.noms.only

I didn't get any writing on the cake, as I already had a Happy Birthday candle, and I didn't want to add extra icing to the cake. I liked how well they package the cake. The box was large enough, and they line the bag with a thin piece of cardboard to stabilize the box. I'm not a big sweets person, but I enjoyed the chocolate-y richness of the cake.
