Not good. I've tried this shop three times, and I've been disappointed every time. Please note, this review is based off everything minus the donuts. I've never had the donuts. First, the customer service is lacking. Basic eye contact and speaking clearly to a customer shouldn't be too much to ask. The worker was looking down and speaking so quietly from several feet away that I could barely hear him. Second, the iced coffee was a mess--twice. Both times, the lid leaked, and one was so loose that it started spilling on my way to the train. I shouldn't have to inspect a drink before leaving the shop to make sure the lid actually works. Third, the bagels are hard as fuck and dry as fuck. The egg and bacon were fine, but the bagel itself was atrocious. Overall, not worth it. I could've made a better breakfast at home. If you're willing to walk a few extra minutes, go to Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop instead. Better service, better breakfast, and way more variety. Cash only, but there's a bank across the street. Unlike some of the other legendary spots nearby, they actually take credit cards, which makes the whole experience much smoother. My boyfriend indulges me when it comes to food adventures. He said and I quote "This is the best donut I've ever had". And when he makes a statement like that, he means it. The pistachio donut is just a real killer pick here. It tasted like the pistachios were ground into flour and used as the dough but then the donut itself was covered in pistachio crumbs. I absolutely love pistachios and also enjoy treats that are not too sweet. It was worth coming out of our way to enjoy. We went on a Friday morning and it was not crowded at all. It had a nice little breakfast counter for the neighborhood to pop in for an affordable option. My boyfriend loves the prices for bagels and made a note of it. I believe every neighborhood should have a classic old school, donut shop with a simple diner. There's something comfortable about popping into a diner, getting a simple breakfast and a strong cup of coffee and a little treat. We also tried the crème brulee donut. I'm a sucker for a custard treat. They truly made a nice crust as you would have in the classic dessert. Love the cream inside too. Just several stores down, we chanced upon another place for desserts on a Tuesday afternoon after we found out that the bakery we planned on going to was closed for maintenance. Great donuts for about $2.50 a pop! Got the cruller and pistachio cake donuts. The cruller was very airy and nice which I liked. Pistachio was coated with a very healthy amount of pistachios. Also tried a regular glazed old fashioned which was solid, too. Place has counters and seats available which is nice. I skip Peter Pan and go to Moe's every time. Unbeatable price for the quality that you're getting. The most recent time I came here, it was 15min before close and the donuts still HIT. If the apple spice is available, you need to get it because it's got chunks of caramelized apples in it. It's not your typical apple spice donut and is elevated in flavor. I also like the vanilla creme donut, it's powdered on the outside and stuffed with not overly sweet vanilla creme on the inside. The dough is fluffy as well. Moe's is the best donut shop in Greenpoint - hands down. Their history is actually quite interesting, so if you have wondered why is this shop so similar to Peter Pan then please dive deep! The staff is consistently kind, and even accept my packages that are mistakenly delivered there, which I greatly appreciate. I prefer Moe's over Peter Pan because they accept card. Yes there is a markup but it's still so affordable. Some prices were raised recently, but not excessively. Their BEC bagels are similar to what you may get at a local deli, and probably cost less. I love their "doissants", the sour cream, creme brulee, knafeh, and cookie butter donuts. THE BEST is the Paczkis on Fat Tuesday. The reason for 4 stars is that cake donuts are not my preference, but they are the specialty of Moe's. FYI - this isn't a spot you sit down at. McGolrick and McCarren are both close by for eating outside. I recommend picking up a coffee from Okka on your way. read more

Ordered Moe's for delivery recently. Got the rainbow, which remains perfect, and the red velvet, also amazing. Glazed old fashioned was great, too. However, the cinnamon old fashioned and plain old fashioned are long (see pic) whereas I prefer round, so won't be getting those again (at least when ordering online, where you can't see the shape of most types of doughnuts). They have decent donuts. My favorite was the snickers and Samoa. I tried a few others but they are definitely , sweet, heavy , indulgent (rocky road, cannoli). They are definitely not your average donut but I do prefer other donut shops like Peter Pan or even doughnut plant. That said Moe's makes my top 5. read more
