We had a wonderful time with Carl, our driver, who provided an interesting blend of factual and humorous information. We had signed up for the wine tour/sleigh ride, but the lack of snow forced the use of a carriage ride pulled by Bailey, a black Clydesdale. Our carriage driver also was full of contemporary and historical information about residents on the lake shore in Fish Creek. The wine tasting portion of the day happened to be the most disappointing - the staff did not adequately explain the wines to be tasted, nor were they readily available to answer questions. The advertised "chef prepared" lunch turned out to be a delicious lunch at the English Inn (a quintessential supper club) that was prepared prior to our arrival. Plus, we received a bonus stop (not advertised) at a local brewery in Egg Harbor for a complimentary beer or cider. Finally, the trolley company did try to respect the COVID guidelines about masks and social distancing. However, the trolley was at full capacity and the lunch seating at the supper club was less than 6 feet separation. All in all, a good day, though not quite what we had signed up for. read more

Our group had a great time on the Ghost Trolley tour with Ronnie 5Star. His stories entertained and even educated us about the history of the area and many of the unexplained phenomena. The tour is a great alternative to many of the other Door County activities and was great fun. read more

We did the scenic tour in the afternoon and the tour itself was very nice and we learned a lot of cool little facts about Door County and its history. I found myself making notes and opening tabs to check out some things after the tour. One recommendation I have is to include more Native American history from the area. We heard about the Potawatomi chief buried in Peninsula State Park at the very end but I think there is a lot of untapped potential there (both before Europeans arrived and after)! Moving on to our tour guide, Boyd. He induced so many eye-rolling and WTF looks from me and my fiancé. He was a representation of those embarrassing racist and sexist grandpas that you hear people talk about. First of all, he was only addressing the men for a lot of conversations, e.g., "you should bring your wife or girlfriend to xyz" and I have a hunch he wasn't addressing gay ladies when he said that lol. Secondly, his whole talk was full of racist undertones, especially towards Native Americans. At one point, when telling us about a historical tragedy, he said, "we lost a lot of ships, men, and Indians." What the actual fuck? While I know there are white folks who don't consider other races to also be humans (or "men"), I wasn't expecting to be driven around by one. And then there was the random diss of the government trying to accommodate people in wheelchairs! As we passed by the newly rebuilt Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park, he complained about how the federal government made the state put in a ramp to accommodate people in wheelchairs. I absolutely do not understand why this man was so upset that MORE people would now be able to enjoy the beautiful views from the top of the tower. We actually went to visit Eagle Tower the next day and the ramp was so well-used it made us smile (and wonder even more why that miserable man yesterday was so upset by it)! Not only were there people in wheelchairs, but also people using walkers, those who had strollers/toddlers, people with walking sticks, others who have a hard time with stairs (knee pain, injury, age, or simply tired), and just able-bodied people who wanted to take the longer way up and enjoy walking through the tree-tops (it was beautiful and we highly recommend taking the ramp instead of the stairs)! Overall, the tour would have been so much more enjoyable if we had a different tour guide. I highly encourage the owner to hire people from the modern era and those who have a more positive outlook about people who are different than themselves. Boyd mentioned how you all are trying to hire women drivers and I think that's a great idea. read more

I feel a bit conflicted about this place and the trolley experience. The facility itself is 5 stars. The building and grounds are super nice as is the gift shop. They also sell a good assortment of drinks and snacks to bring on the trolley - nice touch. As for the tours.... I've done the ghost tour and murder and mayhem tour. To be fair, I'd give the tour guides 5 stars. They did everything they could do with the "stories" and our driver on the murder and mayhem tour played great music. The stories themselves and tour seemed pretty weak, but again, I'd like to stress, it wasn't the guide's fault, just mostly lame stories. The good news is, maybe there isn't a lot of crime in Door County! Would I go again? Maybe. They do offer a variety of tours. Check it out for yourself. We learned a great deal about Door County history and how the events and people were linked to the ups and downs of the various light houses. We thought this would be a nice side trip and we weren't disappointed. While the weather didn't cooperate, out trolley driver, Boyd, provided a phenomenal history of the area and his knowledge made the trip entertaining and fun. VERY disappointed with the customer service with the Trolley company. Have gone on a number of these tours but never again. I was hoping they would have a heart and refund a pre purchased ticket but apparently they only care about money and not their patrons! I came down with Covid the day before my girls trip so I am doing the responsible, considerate thing by staying home but the Trolley company will not refund me the ticket. Door County Trolley is an absolute blast! Over 10 years ago, when I was a teenager, I went on the ghost tour and I loved it. Earlier this summer, I went on the tour again and loved it all over again. It was so fun to hear about the spooky side of DC and even get to stop at some of the locations. The tour was interactive and had a lot of stops that allowed us to look around and take photos. Our tour guide, Ralph, was awesome! He kept the tour fun and the energy upbeat throughout. Very knowledgeable and friendly guy who answered any questions the group had. This past weekend, I went on the murder and mayhem tour guided by Ed. Again, really loved hearing about the darker side of DC and learning some little-known stories. I must say, Ed really made the stories come alive. He even shared some personal accolades which added a fun twist to the tour. After our tour returned to the trolley station at around 10pm, my friend and I came to find that our car's battery had died. Another staff member (blond gentleman who was returning from a ghost tour) and Ed stayed with us to ensure that we were safe while another very friendly family stayed to jump our car. Ed even offered to drive us back to our cottage in Jacksonport if need be. I must say, through Ed's personal stories and his kind, generous offer of a ride home, he is a real stand up guy. We did the Ghost Tour June 7, 2022, it was well worth it. The tour guide, was excellent not only are you treated to stories of the paranormal in the area but it is tied in to the history of the area around Fish Creek. I did this tour with my daughter 22 years ago and thought my husband who has a history minor would enjoy it which he did, it is well worth the over 2 hours you spend on the trolly. I was skeptical about this 5 hour trolley ride. I pictured "blue hairs" on a bus and we would be the youngest people on this tour. How wrong! We had a blast. Our 5 hour tour was the wine, brewery and distillery tour. It included a lunch at Crate in Sturgeon Bay! Many couples, groups and no "blue hairs!" Our driver, Bruce was entertaining and provided a fun travel experience with jokes and music and a scenic tour along the way. It made our experience in Door County TOP on our list. Keep in mind that if you go on the murder and mayhem tour, you likely will go to places murderers would have hung out (remote locations and low rent districts). Nothing scenic about the tour and very little information about door county in this choice. Shame on me for thinking otherwise. The tour guide was uneven, apparently in the large trolley for the first time. Not a very polished presentation IMO. For some reason, he also had trouble remembering names and details of each stop. If you are looking for a "true crime-esque" overview of a few murders in Door County, this is a good choice. Not so much for entertainment value or scenery or local information though. In some ways, I feel ripped off since it really was a "meh" sort of experience. I was also disappointed by the lax COVID guidelines - the guide didn't observe good mask wearing practices and many in the trolley didn't seem to care about it either. If we ever return, we will find bettering things to do with our evening out. read more

1. I booked a party of 6. Two of us were assigned to sit up by the driver. I am sorry, but paying full price to have my legs contorted around the box is not ideal. Saturday was a bit blah. It rained on and off the whole day, so I decided to spice up the night and bought us tickets for their Ghost Tour, which ended up being spooky fun! Stepping aboard the "Trolley of the Doomed" we heard tales of ghostly sunken ships, haunted lighthouses and mysterious happenings on the darker side of the peninsula. It was a scary, fun, and informative filled tour that was truly one of a kind. We took the Haunted Trolley ride back in August with Ed as our driver. We found Ed to be an awesome story teller. We've visited Door County at least 8 times and I learned so many new things on this tour! Be prepared, there is a bit of walking - about a half block to the marina, through the Noble House, and through a dark cemetery. I would not recommend this for those with mobility issues. I think young kids would quickly get bored, but it was perfect for my 17 and 13 year olds. The tour ends with a fun sing-a-long. read more

My husband and I went on the Uncorked Wine Tour. If you want a cheap wine drunk fest - this is it. Carl the driver and the view was great. Don't expect this to be a wine tasting or even have a glass of wine that is locally made. The first place we went too was a slightly high end restaurant where we got a glass of wine at the take out window. HUGE disappointment when I saw the Pinot Grigio was Ruffino - at most costs $9 in a grocery store. The second place was a golf course where the bartender was not friendly and it smelled like an old church. Again, the view was beautiful. Did I mention we still have not had anything to eat? No crackers, pretzels, peanuts or cheese. And the wine at the golf course was from California. Still nothing local. The last place we went too was a pizza restaurant. Here we got two pieces of pizza and yet another cheap glass of wine. Sutter Home Pinot Grigio to be exact - at the most costs $9 in a grocery store. The pizza was thing local and it was good. Be careful what you choose and make sure you do a little research to know what you are getting. read more

Took the scenic tour for 90 minutes. Nice driver. Learned a few things about Door county. The tour takes you through Ephraim and Pennisula State park which is very pretty. There is a bathroom break 1/2 way through the tour. It was $25.00 per person and you get 10% off purchases in their gift shop. You can buy a drink in their store and take it along. 4 stars because I would have liked a little bit more history of Door county and the driver pitched a lot a restaurants in the area. Let's start this review by acknowledging that "safety first" should be the motto of any type of tour operating, especially in CoronaNation. This is the opposite of Door County Trolley Co. The tour guide encouraged people to take off their masks after getting off the trolley! And then proceeded to try and gather us as close together as possible. Not to mention several passengers refused to keep their masks on while ON the trolley, even when they were not eating or drinking. The tour guide did not care. Which means the company did not teach him the importance of following the government's mandate and LAW! Another big safety issue was that there was no lighting or reflective surfaces on the stairs going onto or getting off of the trolley. One woman actually tumbled onto the curb of the street getting off the trolley and the guide didn't even flinch, he couldn't care less. He also did not bother to use a flashlight of any kind when getting off the trolley in the dark, like the lighthouse park and cemetery. (We saw another group from the same company at one of the stops, their tour guide also did not have a flashlight nor did they put the trolley lights on while guests were getting off the trolley.) This next issue is not a safety issue but more of a comfort thing; the guide said he would put on the heat when it started getting cold out, he did not bother to. Ok so now that you have been warned about the fact this trolley company does not care about safety, let's talk about the actual ghost tour. The narrative was drawn out and incredibly BORING. It focused on the families involved opposed to the paranormal activity associated with each story. I have been on several ghost tours including trolley and bus rides, and they have all done a great job weaving in key take-aways from each haunting. They also have the guests "do something" to get them involved like: use an EMF detector; try out a pair of dowsing rods; turn on a spirit box and ask it questions; hold out your hands over here and you might feel the little boy hold your hand, stuff like that. The only inkling of that kind of involvement was for us to take pictures of the windows of one of homes in the narrative. In the end we did tip the driver because this is his job and how he makes a living. It's not his fault the Ghost Tour Trolley of Door County is a total waste of time and money, and also put us all in danger of a current global pandemic.
