Back home visiting and after i took care of my Jack in the box cravings saw a frozen custard drive thru, ordered a large cup. I LOVE ice cream especially custard and this was the worse frozen custard I ever tasted can't say ate because I threw it away after a couple of bites, the texture was weird snd didn't have any taste or sweetness. I think I've been to the Florissant location once or twice. Long ago I tried to sample every Frozen Custard place in the metro area. In those days I was younger and not concerned about my weight or lipid profile. This one is next to the St. Charles Sugarfire. I try to ignore it when I'm visiting Sugarfire, but obviously I'm not always successful. They've got some classic options on the menu and do usually have some kind of special. The custard is as good as anything else in the area and they do have a 'lite' option. I'd give it five stars but the specialty sundaes only come in one size. I think the specialty concretes have more options, but still not as many as the regular custard. They also have a few flavors of hard ice cream if you'd prefer that. The service is always fast and friendly. Typical frozen custard stand decor and layout (outside seating only, drive-thru). It can get a bit windy at times, keep a firm grip on your purchase. read more

Doozle's is one of my favorite frozen custard shops in the St. Louis area. This family owned business has been around since I was a kid. Doozle's is my go to spot for a something sweet and cold on a hot summer night. It is also my go to place after I enjoy a meal at Sugar Fire (aka the best BBQ around) which happens to be located right next door to Doozle's. Doozle's is a cute ice cream shop with both a drive through and a walk-up window. My typical order is a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Concrete, which never disappoints. If I am feeling a little wild I will go for one of the speciality sundaes which are always top shelf. The workers are always friendly and very generous with the candy mix-ins and toppings. Prices are very reasonable at about $4 for a concrete. Great place for a family hang out or quick fix for a sweet tooth! read more

If you haven't been to Doozles, I'm sad to say that you haven't fully lived! I'm biased, because I actually grew up with this place, and it's one of the favorites! They're stands located in a couple areas throughout the city, and you can only order from the outside. So you'll have to pull your car up, park in front of the order station, make your order, and enjoy your custard on the front patio. Aside from having the best frozen custard in St. Louis, my favorite part about this place is that it's open very late. After a long day of work, running errands, and spending time out with the family, there are few things better than seeing the Doozles sign shining up the road! At Doozles, you're able to choose from a wide range of delicious custards and mix & match toppings into them. There are already pre-mixed signature offerings to choose from, such as Strawberry Cloud and Smore, or you can go crazy and fuse together any flavors you like to produce something original! The staff is always helpful, and the service is quick; if you happen to show up on a warm summer Friday night, you may have to wait behind a line of people. What can I say about Doozles? The frozen yogurt is extremely good. It truly is!! There is a decent selection of toppings and specialty items, including the frozen dog bone that my Bella Ray gulped down, tail nub wagging all the way. My problem is that I just left Ted Drews last weekend, with a caramel appe sundae, which was phenomenal! Had there been a caramel apple anything on the menu, Doozles may have grabbed that 5th star from me, but alas I have to compare them to the standard bearer, and the selection fell short. On a positive note, the price is cheaper than say a DQ Blizzard, and tastes better too. When I can't make it to Ted Drews, Doozles is close and just as good in terms of taste.
