There are so many combinations of bagels and rolls and fillings and sandwich spreads, it's almost too difficult too make a decision. But I have been assured that it's all so delicious. Pillowy soft on the inside with a perfectly chewy crust on the outside -- the bagels here are genuinely delicious. The menu is definitely limited, but everything they do offer is pure yummy goodness. I really enjoyed my bagels; they tasted fresh and full of flavor. The seating isn't the best, but honestly, you come here more for the vibes than the ambiance. My only small critiques: the bagels lean a bit on the softer, slightly mushy side rather than crisp, and the prices are a little on the higher end. I'm by no means a bagel connoisseur, but I was raised in NY state so I've got a well thought out opinion. Here is my experience. 1. Don't wake up late in East Amherst on Sunday & think you will be there for breakfast at 11:00, you will miss it. There is a cut off, idk when it is. But I do know they close at 1pm. 2. This is a serious bakery, the bagels are well made and toast up nicely. It smelled wonderful in there. We chose assorted dozen uncut for $32 - rosemary & salt, pretzel, everything & plain. They were all delicious. We got the mixed veggie cream cheese. 3. The people waiting for their breakfast sandwiches seemed to have been there a while so, if you get there at a time when they are serving - be ready to enjoy your surroundings in a leisurely manner. Incredible! Worth the hype and worth the wait! We ordered online pretty early in the morning to make sure we got what we wanted. Service was great and bagels were even better. A LOT of cream cheese but if that's your thing, power to you. Will definitely have to make the trip out again. read more

We stopped in here while walking east Aurora on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I don't get the rave behind the high rating. It was partly my own fault as we stopped in around 12 and they were out of every bagel except the rosemary and sea salt, which would have been my last choice if they were fully stocked). The bagel itself seemed more stale than fresh. I'd assume they make them every morning if they run out that quick? I ordered the Bacon Egg and cheese. $14 for just that, which seems like highway robbery but they got me. I usually give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this was just not for me. There was no condiment on the sandwich, so it seemed a bit dry, along with the stale taste of the bagel. The bacon was thick cut though. Perhaps they are better early in the morning, but that price is not worth the meal. read more

I had heard some awesome things about Dopest Dough before from all my friends in EA. So when I was at Borderland, I knew I had to check them out. Instead of bagels though, they were slinging Grilled Cheese sandwiches and Tomato soup from their food truck. The truck was pretty cool. Converted school bus into a food truck making grilled cheese? Can't get cooler than that for a music festival weekend. First off, I can't say anything about the soup. I heard from others it was great. But I'm not a soup guy. I am also not a soup guy when it is 85 degrees out. That's just me though. So I opted for just the sandwich. I wonder everyday if I made the right choice. But then I remember I also am not a tomato guy and everything checks out. This grilled cheese though...It was AMAZING. I like to think that I can make a pretty mean grilled cheese at home when I want one, but this is on another level of grilled cheesiness. The bread is the star here, which makes sense with it being from Dopest Dough. But the crunch of the bread, the gooey cheese, and the flavor packed into each bite was incredible. I could have eaten 10 of these. I inhaled this sandwich. I get it, I know what you're thinking, "it's just a grilled cheese". I would have said the same thing reading this. But until you try it, you just will never know what you're missing. On that note, I gotta get out to EA and try out some more of their products ASAP. read more

Executing a Kimilwick bagel is a daring undertaking to say the least... but they not only tried it but mastered it. It's a very interesting take on the popular regional flavor. My only knock is that my bagel was a little stale but I'm not sure if that was due to the kimilweck seasoning. Ive also had several of the other bagels here and they are all decent. I hate to rain on the gushing parade of reviews but... I had a pork roll sandwich (cool that they have pork roll) and partner had a simple plain bagel with brown butter walnut cream cheese. My sandwich was soooo salty. Pork roll, by its nature is salty. Then it includes cheddar cheese and boss sauce so it was going to be salty. But unless you've been here before (we hadn't) you won't know that their 'plain' bagels are salted. Like visible obvious salt crystals applied, probably in some sort of pre-bake glaze. The salt wasn't as problematic on the bagel with cream cheese but it was still quite noticeable. Worse, the brown butter walnut cream cheese had a mostly butter texture and taste and depute clearly asking for the bagel to be toasted it wasn't or wasn't toasted enough to crisp up the skin on the bagel at all. So it was extra chewy. I also got a chocolate chip cookie to go and it had the gummy texture of a muffin top and was thrown out. At the end of our meal I did mention that I thought it was odd that plain bagels are salted. My comment was received civilly but she was clear that they salt them on purpose. I have to think, at least based on our experience, that people like the snazzy hipster look of the place. I can't see ANY aspect of the 4 or 5 different components of food we tried that would please a transitional or NY bagel lover. These were oversized puffy bagels. The shine and skin were nice but overall more French bread like than bagel to us and we eat a lot of bagels. read more

We ordered some breakfast sandwiches for takeout this morning - The Billy & The Guru. Both were SUPER flavorful and tasty. However, unfortunately the bagels themselves were pretty tough to bite into which made for a messy time when trying to bite into the sandwiches! Stopped in today with my 4 year old granddaughter for 2 bagels as we had a time restraint. There were a few patrons inside but walked right up and ordered. After 25 minutes and seeing -many other customers come and go and dozens of eye contacts the woman at the counter finally asked me my name. in those 25 minutes I saw customers get the wrong food and complain about service but I figured I'm next and said nothing until 10 minutes later when a patron who came in well after me with a larger order get his food and leave. I figured 35 minutes was enough time and asked for my money back. She said they were busy, most came after me and left before me And she continued talking orders before fulfilling the ones she had. I would never say no to a beautiful looking loaf of bread. This time, it was love at first sight. I knew I had to have a taste of sourdough bread from 'dopest dough'. Luckily, we had a party the next day and I was able to share this beautiful creation with everyone. It was a hit. We liked everything about it, the look, the texture and of course the taste. We also purchased one everything bagel. Not being an expert, I can't say whether it was good or great. It was huge and I think it didn't have enough satisfying chewiness. It's also wonderful if a bagel is modestly sweet, and this one didn't have much of this important to me factor. Try some and have your own opinion, please. I will happily post again because this breakfast sando deserves its own post. Preface this with - I was born and raised in central NJ - land of delicious noms. Thanks to Dopest Dough, I can have a little bit of home on a bagel :) I highly recommend their "The Boss" sando- pork roll, egg, and cheese with Boss Sauce on a Hot Grandma bagel. The bagels are good but definitely don't live up to the hype and are not worth the price. The prices are outrageous. $14 for two bagels, one toasted with cream cheese and one toasted with butter. They have several flavors, including plain, sesame, poppy, everything, French toast, and a jalapeño cheddar one at this week's pop-up. Good chew, good crust, good flavor. Do not need to toast. That last is one of my standards for a really good bagel. You can but don't have to toast it for it to taste good and have good texture. Look at the color from the bake, too.
