We had the almond square, pistachio snack cake, and cranberry orange scone, and honestly, I can't choose a favorite because they were all great in their own way. The almond square reminded me a bit of an almond ring, with almond paste filling layered inside a flaky, tender, buttery pastry. It had that rich almond flavor without being overly sweet, and the texture was spot on. The pistachio snack cake was soft, moist, and delicately nutty--simple but really satisfying. Almost teacake-like. The cranberry orange scone brought a nice contrast with bright citrus flavor and tart cranberries throughout. It had a great crumb and just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Loved the dried orange pieces. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. Miller's Thumb Bakery has delicious bagels, friendly staff, and everything seemed to run smoothly during my visit. My only suggestion would be to please separate the bagels a little better! An onion from an everything bagel somehow found its way onto my cinnamon raisin bagel. While I appreciate bagels making new friends, onion and cinnamon raisin are not a flavor combination I'd recommend. That little mix-up aside, the bagels were yummy and I'd definitely be back! read more

I love a fresh, homemade pastry, so naturally, Miller's Thumb Bakery was on my list of bakeries I wanted to try. I finally had the opportunity to sample some of their baked goods with a good friend. Everything we had was delicious! On a Saturday, around 8:15am, I pulled up and found the last available parking spot in their parking lot. Parking in their lot definitely was tight, which really surprised me since it was barely after 8am, though I did see quite a few cars parked along the street. Walking up to the main entrance, I could see a good-size line that went right to the door, which ultimately is a good sign. Once in line, it moved pretty quick as I was in line for maybe 10 minutes, max; Everyone was smiling, soaking in the vibes so that made time go by easier. Inside it isn't too big, but it's warm, cozy. I noticed a few tables and chairs but most of them were already filled but I was there to pick up a few treats, not to sit and eat. The manager ended up taking my order and cashing me out - She was very pleasant and courteous! So, what did I pick up? I went with one almond square (a flaky pastry with a buttery almond center and toasted nuts), the rotating scone flavor, cranberry-orange, and a snack cake, which the flavor for that day was pistachio. Everything sampled was phenomenal! The flavors were spot-on. The flaky, crunchier texture of the almond square was excellent and the almond center was so good. My friend and I loved the pistachio snack cake - So moist, a nice heft to it, and the pistachio flavor was very pleasant. The cranberry-orange scone was big, the inside was soft and had plenty of dried orange pieces and cranberries. The exterior of the scone was softer, but not too soft. The size of each of these baked treats were plenty big and the price I paid for each was incredibly reasonable! I'd been meaning to try Miller's Thumb Bakery for quite a while and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait! Friendly staff, fresh, high quality baked goods, reasonable prices, what more could I ask for? Went here to pick up a cinnamon roll after a friend raved about them and they didn't disappoint! We went Wednesday at 11 and there was no line when we walked in so we were in and out in about 5 minutes. I grabbed a cinnamon roll and croissant, both delicious. The cinnamon roll had the perfect amount of icing. I would recommend heating it up in the microwave for a few seconds. I will be back to try more pastries! read more

Ok, so one negative I have to get out of the way before everything else. There is not nearly enough parking in their lot or enough seating for the amount of business they seem todo... At least not for the day I was there, which was a Thursday morning around 10am. But, at least there is street parking available nearby for the parking situation. As soon as we got inside the air was filled with the delicious smell of fresh brewed coffee & baked goods. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a coffee, a butterscotch latte and a loaf of sourdough. Our order was prepared fresh and ready in a reasonable amount of time. The cheese on the sandwiches was perfectly melted and everything was just the right temperature. The first sandwich, the commuter, was on their house sourdough with egg, cheddar and crispy bacon. The second, a hot bagel sandwich was, a fresh baked bagel with egg salami, pepperoni, provolone, red pepper relish and chili aioli. Just the right amount if sandwich fixings to balance out the amount of bagel.My butterscotch latte was not overly sweet and delicious. Neither my dad or I cared for the black coffee. I was excited to finally check this place out! I called ahead to place my order about 25 minutes ahead which was perfect. I ordered two sandwiches, The Parker and The Claremont. Both delish. The croissant sandwich is no longer on the menu, but they said they could make it. A little heavy on the Dijon mustard in my opinion, but I could scrape it off. I also ordered a coffee which was good. Grabbed a chocolate chocolate cookie and apple bread while there. There were tons of fresh breads available! They have a specific money for each day. There we're about eight tables. Really cozy and homemade vibes! When you walk in. There are a few items for sale like handmade pottery mugs with lids! I never thought I'd be giving a review like this but unfortunately, I am. I emailed the owner directly to give her a chance to apologize to no avail - I was treated so poorly on my last visit I am now updating my previous reviews. Customer Service is more important to me than anything else, especially when I have been nothing but a loyal customer since this bakery opened. I cannot count how many times I have raved to friends, family and co-workers about how good everything is here. I also cannot count how much money I have spent - a LOT. This is all over them getting my call-in order wrong and being falsely accused of expecting a cup of hot water for free....yes, you read that right, a cup of water. When I got to the cafe I waited in line and then told the person at the register, who happened to be the Owner, who I have met and spoken with several times that I had placed my order at 7:45am that morning. She started ringing up my total and it was not what I had ordered earlier that day (I was there to pick it up at my arranged time of 11:30am). She asked me if I talked to a person when I called (yes) and then the order was corrected - I was under the impression that my order would be ready to go when I got there as that is what the person told me on the phone - not so, but no big deal. As she was ringing up the corrected order, I also added another item on the counter (biscotti), my total came to $24 and I also put money in their tip jar as I usually do. I then made the mistake of asking for a large cup of hot water. I was told there would be a charge for the cup - I said that was fine, I understood. When she brought the cup back it was clearly a small cup. I asked if that was a large cup, she said no, that I had asked for a small and that I expected it to be free! I never said any such thing and I said I would never expect it to be free - that I understood when she told me there would be a charge. Now understand, this person knows me, knows how much I have always sung the praises of their bakery - speaking in that tone, in front of a line of customers and her staff over a cup of water!? That, quite frankly is NOT how you treat a customer - any customer - especially one that has spent so much time and money there. So, I was stunned and after paying I stepped to the side of the counter and could feel my eyes welling up - I had been sick the past week and this was my first outing - I was on my way to share what I had just purchased at a gathering and I couldn't understand what I had done wrong (nothing). I went to the Barista station where one of the staff was working and handed the cup of water back. Clearly upset I explained what had happened and said I didn't want the water and that maybe the owner was having a bad day. So, it's been almost 3 full days and I have yet to hear back from the email I sent. Sadly, I will not be returning. read more

I feel so lucky to have a bakery that prioritizes milling fresh flour in the area! They sell their fresh milled flour in bags to purchase (for really reasonable prices), their food is delicious and so wholesome, and such a cozy atmosphere inside. Everyone is very friendly. The ambiance of this place is cozy and gives a farm to table feel. I really enjoyed the pastry- I tried the raspberry snail. It was delicious. I also had the egg sandwich with bacon and aioli. Cute little cafe. Not a lot of parking. I got there 815 and they open at 8 and the line was out the door and stayed that way whole time I was there and even when I drove back by. That could be because the space is small. There are a few benches to eat in. But I will say the line moves pretty fast, and gives you time to review the menu and have your order ready when you get to the counter. There bread is amazing! We ordered: cinnamon bun, which is by far the best one I've ever had. It wasn't dense like most are. This was my favorite thing we ordered. Also tried two breakfast sandwiches, the commuter and the hot breakfast sandwich. Both were good, again the bread is what makes these so good. I would not get egg again on them. They were those fake like eggs, was a no bueno for me. Also tried two sandwiches as well, the Turkey and the Northtown. The red pepper relish really made this sandwich pop and the same for the chili aioli on the Northtown. I also ordered the gooey caramel pull apart but unfortunately I didn't get instead they put the seasonal danish (apple turnover) in my order. Although not what I ordered it was good. Then washed it all down with Chi-der, which was Cider and Chai. Could drink that everyday, great combo!! I will start by saying that it's been several weeks since my last visit. I've gone back and forth on whether or not I should submit a review. I used to frequent 2-3 times a week because the breads and treats are unmatched. Sadly, the owner's attitude is also unmatched, and not in a good way. I was hosting some family for brunch and wanted to serve the amazing biscuits that Miller's Thumb offers. I called at 8:30 to pre-order and asked for 10 biscuits. The employee put me on hold and the owner, Jill took the call. She stated that I could have 4 to 5 biscuits, not 10. Assuming they were sold out, I had no problem and was happy to acquire at least 5! When I walked in and was waiting in line to pick up my order, I noticed several biscuits available on the counter for purchase. I asked Jill politely and quietly, "is there a reason I could not order 10 biscuits?" Jill: "sold out, that's all I had." Me: I pointed, "there are biscuits right there". Jill: "I only make 60 biscuits, if I give you 10, I won't have any for my other customers." Me: "ok Jill...this whole situation is a little off-putting. As a business owner I would never lie or turn someone away who is spending money right now." Jill: "I'm sorry to hear you won't be coming back." Me: "I never said that, I just said your comment was off-putting." This whole exchange was very odd considering they have a sign that eludes to first come, first served. Once they are out, they are out. I have never had a business turn down cash in hand for products that were clearly visible and available for purchase. Jill, as I know you love to reply to reviews and harass your loyal customers, I urge you to pull and share the security footage from April 8th. Maybe then, you will stumble upon a moment of reflection and see how ugly your customer service presentation truly is. If not with my situation, then probably with many others you can recall recently. The way the owner treats her customers is a direct reflection of the business, and I will never return. If she is unhappy with customer service, maybe she should work in the office or prepare food away from the gaze of customers. read more

The ordering process during a busy time is not set up well. There is no clear menu and when a line forms on a busy weekend morning, it's unclear to a newcomer where to go. When I got up to the line to order, the staff pointed me toward a very small menu that was all the way back in the line. I had to ask an entire line of people on a busy Sunday morning to move to find the menu. This essentially made me hold up the entire line, and no help from staff. I just left. I left this on a google review and the owner's response was basically "you'd be better off at tim horton's." As a business owner you have a chance to reach out to a customer and help, but instead they offered a response of "we're doing fine, go to the chain coffee house instead." Very snobby response. So I write this review to say that the food is pretty good, but if you do have any kind of issue or you do find the ordering process unclear as a newcomer, the staff won't help and the owners will provide with snark disguised as a smile. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, we have a lot of good bakeries around here that are run better. read more

I love their croissants. I've tried other things too, but the croissants are what I come back for. So do many other people. There is often a line that moves sort of fast. They do seem to offer complicated coffees which slows things down a lot. They could benefit from making one person handle only the "croissant and cookie" crowd, while other staff handle the more complicated time consuming orders. That's why 4 stars and not 5. Parking can be challenging here because it's always busy. read more

This place is awesome! I came in yesterday to get breakfast for myself and my fiancé and loved it so much I had to come back today. The bagel was light, the Hot Breakfast Bagel was a top tier sandwich. The croissants were light, flaky and buttery. The chocolate crisp was a unique take on a chocolate chip cookie. I loved it, but it may not be for everyone depending on how you like your cookies. The service was quick and friendly. Visited 3 times now, and will revisit. You might want to get here early because they're very busy especially on weekends but line moves fast and order wait times were not that long. The smell of freshly baked goods and bread welcomes you as soon as you enter. We've had few of their bakery items and drinks. Their Kouign amman-- oh my!! Doing my happy dance! The absolute best I've had. The commuter my partner had was also delicious. You can't go wrong with their signature sourdough. We ended up getting another loaf. They always have free samples for you to try. Cozy atmosphere, friendly and helpful service. Not much seating inside so we've always taken our items to go. What an adorable little spot in Tonawanda!! I didn't realize they also served food and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I had the chick pea salad sandwich which was very flavorful and the bread was divine! The service was great-everyone was very helpful and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. Great place. Not close to our house so this is the first time we actually went in (when our kids were in town in July they brought back stuff that was delicious). We went in on a Wednesday because they advertised having round holiday challah and babkas available. We each had an egg, bacon and cheddar sandwich on a bagel that was delicious and took a challah home. Ate some with dinner on Wednesday night and it was delicious. Went back Friday and bought two chocolate babkas, two apple turnovers and two scones (lemon poppyseed was available that day, but they change daily, apparently). Used leftover challah for homemade French toast on Saturday morning. Everything has been delicious and we will return often. The owner, Jill, is extremely nice and helpful. This was my first time ordering a sandwich here, so I didn't realize the portion was far from standard until I saw the other table's order. Frankly, a sandwich that size should never have been served. It was disappointing and left a poor impression. What we received looked like it was made from the very end of the bread loaf, more like a sample size. We ended going to another coffee shop after this one to get more to eat.
