I mainly come here for the playground because it's well kept and has tons of shade. Plus it has that foam floor so your kids can run around without you worrying if they're going to fall down and get hurt (or eat sand - either or!). Not only do they have a great playground area, but they also have a huge shelter that can be rented out for events. I've actually used this location on several occassions for 5th grade picnics and it's always a wonderful time. Besides the shelter and the huge open field adjacent to it, there's an area that's set up with a running trail. What's cool is that every few yards there are little stations set up with exercises that are meant for you to work into your run. A street with big shady oak trees runs alongside the park, making it a nice view overall. Most importantly, for me, is that this park is never packed and the people that come here are decent. Whether they're here to workout or spend time with their kids, everyone minds their own business. Plus, there's no fee to get in. Love this park!

Most of the work was for underground drainage so most of the park looks the same as before. The same playground, basketball courts, baseball cages, baseball field, tennis courts etc. The renovation isn't completely done, the parking spots and some grass area still need a finishing touch. This park is close by my workplace, and I began a fan of it during covid, when I could take a short drive here during my lunch break, so I could pull down my mask and breath in some fresh air. The children area is really nice under shade. I hope they will install a section with adult gym equipment as well.

Continental Park dates back to the 1950's making it one of Kendall's oldest and most active parks. The park has a number of amenities beloved by the community. These include a walking path, community center, tennis center, basketball court, and three baseball fields. In the northeast corner of the park is the Dice House. Built in the 1920's, it was the home of the first mayor of Kendall. During my visit I enjoyed strolling the winding pathways but this park is also ideal for enjoying a picnic with family and friends, taking the kids to play on the modern shade covered playground, or simply seeking a peaceful spot to be in nature. More active sports enthusiasts will enjoy the well-maintained tennis courts, basketball courts, and soccer fields which are perfect for a friendly game or serious practice sessions. Beyond its natural beauty and recreational facilities, Continental Park serves as an important recreational resource. The park hosts regular and seasonal events like active older adult programs and gatherings that bring residents together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging in the community. I participated in the muddy dash Miami this year. So this review is based of that…read more It was a fun 5k, with some military-like courses with wet mud. As germaphobe, I faced my fears today. I got a few cuts and scrapes in the mud, so maybe bring some hand sanitizer in your pocket. You get a medal at the end for completing it, and they have some food trucks to feast after the race. My one complain is that they charge you $20 to park at a public park that is free to park.

Coral Pine Park is a charming and well kept 9-acre park in Pinecrest. It was a former Miami-Dade County park before being transferred to Pinecrest in 1998. Park amenities include a recreation center with an Everglades mural, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, an all-purpose field, and a shade covered playground. In addition to all of the activities in the park, Coral Pine Park is also a pineland preserve. Pineland is a globally endangered ecosystem. It is only located in south Miami, the Keys, and parts of the Bahamas. Pineland once covered 180,000 acres or 12 percent of Miami but by the time Miami turned 100 in 1996, less than 2 percent remained. Today only fragments of the Pineland remain. Pinelands contain 225 species of native plants, 20 percent of which are found nowhere else in the world. Five of the plant species are listed as federally endangered.

Took my little one here 4 times already and each time have made friends with new parents. The park…read morehas been part of South Miami for a while and consisted of a 0.58 acre of land with a Gazebo on it but that was about it, until this past month when a kiddie park was installed: swing set and jungle gym with slides all atop a rubberized material was installed. This has reinvigorated the park. We exchanged numbers with one set of parents on New Year's Day who had a child that was just two days younger than ours. How about that? The park is a little closer to us than Dante Fascell so that's an added bonus. Green Lime Bikes are positrons on the premises so you can take off on a whim. There is even a Geocache somewhere in this park, but we never managed to locate it. Dison is small, but if you have a little one, it's probably just the right size for him or her to take the edge off before sleepy time.

This is a 14.5 acre park located in Miami across from Killian High School named in honor of Ronald…read moreRay Ehmann (1940-1975), a beloved coach of the Killian Cougars before his life ended tragically in a car accident at the age of only 34. Coach Ehmann was known for his love of sports, physical fitness, and the out doors. At Killian high school he was a biology and physical education teacher before taking over the P.E. Department. He championed his students and before his passing he accompanied six of Killian's most accomplished athletes to compete nationally in the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test. A unique feature of this park is that it has a walking trail through seven acres of a preserved pine rockland habitat which is only found on the limestone terrain in south Florida and the Bahamas. The only trees that live in this habitat are slash pines along with an understory of palms, shrubs, herbs. Pine rockland used to cover 180,000 acres of Miami Dad County but after development, only two percent are left in public parks and preserves. During my walk through the preserve I spotted many Peter's rock agama lizards, an invasive species from Africa. They were first introduced to Florida in 1976 from the pet trade. Adult males have distinctive red heads and black bodies and can grow up to a foot long. Their range has been expanding and they are now found as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Big Pine Key. Unfortunately they like to feast on Florida's endangered butterfly species like the Florida Leafwing and the gray Bartram's Hairstreak which also live in the pine rocklands. Scientists are currently studying the effect on the environment of these lizards and I was able to file an online report of my observations with the University of Georgia who is recording invasive species sightings. In addition to the nature trail park amenities include a basketball court, soccer field, softball field, bike path, quiet resting place, playground, outdoor fitness equipment, recreation center, tennis center and six lighted tennis courts. Winter, spring, and summer camps are offered in the park along with tennis lessons. This park is a respite of nature in urban Miami. Come out and play, exercise, bird watch, or just to enjoy nature. The park is open every day from sunrise until sunset.

Plenty of leagues in the area use this park for their practices and events so if you're a soccer mom- you've likely ended up here. It's a nice spot to walk your dog when it's emptier in the early mornings or late evenings. The park also has parking which makes it a plus for those commuters. Most importantly, there's actually bathrooms which makes things a lot easier when you just gotta go. The area is in the nicer edge of SoMi so the neighborhood is definitely aesthetically pleasing. It's right in between Miller and Sunset on 67th Avenue so you can exit either road and be here in a heartbeat. Now, go enjoy those great outdoors.
