Catfish wrap with side salad upgrade ($3)
    Steven F.

I was totally prepared to give Dorcea a 3 based on the slow service seating me, the long wait for a waitress, and the size of my wrap, but then it was so delicious, I couldn't (in good conscience) do that. My tequila based cocktail was very large and delicious. The catfish wrap is flavorful and not at all fishy. A lovely handheld. But the star of the evening? The ranch dressing. I'm assuming it's made in-house and it might be the best I've ever had. Wouldn't I be embarrassed if it's hidden valley, lol. I will try again.

Very elevated gastropub food where every dish is prepared perfectly, but in surprisingly delicious ways. The char meatloaf is a revelation.

So many good menu options! The char grilled meatloaf was really different with a hint of crunch and sweetness. Good option if you've not had it, but not as tasty as I thought it would be, although the asparagus and mashed potatoes were excellent. The soup sampler was definitely worth it, although the crab bisque was the best. The carrot and ginger was extra spicy, but definitely tasty. I was a little disappointed with the Maryland crab since it tasted more like pasta fagioli?!? Service was quick and good. interesting atmosphere. Not sure if it's positioned as a sports bar or bistro, but I do like the creative menu.

So parking for this place is the opened lot at the corner. The restaurant has a few spots. I walked into the restaurant. Tv by the bar. This place is small but very nice. They have some tables and about 10 seats at the bar. I asked the waiter for recommendations. He gave me the specials for the evening. All sounded very chips. The menu had a bunch of different meals. Shrimp, salmon, chicken, cajin, American. Everything sounded amazing. I thought I was going for the blackened chicken pasta. I asked about the shrimp and grits. This was an award winning dish. I had the waiter pick for me. He selected the shrimp. The dish arrived, much to my surprise. I went right in, and the first taste was awesome. Good spice, big shrimp, nice sauce, and good grits. Not exactly creamy grits, but still OK. I totally enjoyed the dish. I wish I was here a few more days, but this place is a definite must. Very clean. Great service. The cook is awesome. He will do what he can to make you happy. Great food. I recommend.

Happy hour means $6 well drinks, so my standard is rum and diet Coke. Good drink, single pour of Cruzan. I chose to dine at the bar because the weather was a little steamy out. But I later took my second drink out onto their riverfront patio, and sat awhile in the shade of the building. It was lovely. For snacks, I ordered the blackened filet medallions and the garlic mussels. On a skewer, four hefty pieces of excellent beef were joined with a nifty horseradish dip. I did cut the steak into several bites per piece, so it was a good sized portion. My only preference would have been some garnish (greens maybe?). The mussels normally come with bread, but I let them keep it in the kitchen to sub my own GF bread from home. The broth was thin and lightly flavored, which I enjoyed almost like a soup (but was too embarrassed to tip the bowl). The patron to my right bemoaned the loss of a thicker broth from a previous recipe, so the bartender brought him some scampi butter which helped apparently. I really loved the light broth and found it soaked into the bread quite nicely. Friendly bartender gal cashed me out at my request before I took my drink on the patio. $30 plus tip, well spent. I could be a regular here, and look forward to another visit to Wilmington next time we are in Philly.

Alright, if you cant tell from the reviews this place is somewhat polarizing... I went here for the first time recently and felt mixed on the experience. On one hand I loved the lowkey, mysterious, hyperlocal, dive bar atmosphere. On the other hand it does have a bit of a genuine dirty feel that can be off putting. The bathroom in particular is really quite bad, the bar is a bit musty and just feels like it would benefit greatly from a good wipe down. Additionally, I can see how the laid back bartenders and overly comfortable regulars could be a bit intimidating to folks who go in expecting a 'normal' restaurant experience. Servers here will not wait on you hand and foot nor will they at most any other local bar/tap, its just how it is. When you go to a place like this you should understand your visiting someone elses world for a bit, it's not McDonalds or a fancy Italian spot. If local dive culture is foriegn to you or you don't like it you will likely not like this spot. All that being said I found the somewhat aloof bartender and local regulars to be quite charming, reasonably attentive, and all very kind. I ordered some drinks and food, the food was suprisingly good for what you might expect when you arrive, and the drink was fine (just ordered a bottled beer or two). I feel like this place deserves more than a 3 star rating, but honestly I have a hard time saying that my experience was anything special or above being "okay". If I were a local I could see being a regular here, most out-of-towners probably wont like it - that being said If your bored on a random weeknight and don't want to cook at home, stop by and give Dead Presidents a shot, it may surprise you. Ownership, I'd recommend a solid deep cleaning, otherwise I have no real notes.

And why you might ask, am I reviewing it now? Because they failed me again. Like a boyfriend promising you a fabulous date, but he forgets to put gas in the car and you end up walking miles in the rain. I found this place tucked away in a corporate center. It's not a large place, but it feels expansive. Dark with high ceilings. Tables spaced generously. Large semicircular booths like in old Hollywood movies. All bathed in the glow of the wood fire pizza oven. Such a lovely respite on a hot summer day. They also have a lovely patio for outdoor dining, just not our thing. Service is usually great, no glaring missteps. Every visit starts with bread and olive oil. As noted earlier partner gets the same dish. I have tried a lot, but nothing hits for me. The Summer corn agnolotti was so small it should be an appetizer. The salads just miss for me and then I had the shrimp scampi appetizer. Four perfectly fine shrimp. Didn't expect that much broth, but OK. That beautifully grilled bread could have been rested on top, but no. It was floating in the broth weighted down by the shrimp and soon all but dissolved into mush. So you can see that I am the problem. Partner loves that dish and this place, you probably will too.
