Loved the huge indoor/outdoor patio deck at Dorchester brewing Co! This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends; their huge drink selection has something for everyone. I'm a big fan of the sours, but the cider was also a hit in our group. I ended up getting two flights because I was in the mood to try it all. It's worth heading over soon, they're doing some special beers for Oktoberfest! They're selling food from M&M BBQ as well to munch on while you drink... what could be more perfect than pulled pork and a cold beer? You order and pay for all beers and food online and everything gets brought right to your table. Service was quick, and social distancing is made easy with the touchless ordering. I'd been dying to visit this brewery and I am so happy that I was finally able to check it out. They have a large indoor and outdoor patio space with large tables and a bar upstairs. When I visited they had BBQ and I was even surprised to find vegan options on the menu like jackfruit sliders. Which made me feel super included and I loved the diversity on the food menu. The beer selection was exactly the same - super diverse. They had something for everyone from lagers, sours, ciders, IPAs, seletzers. I think everyone could be happy with this brewery. They are also allowing flights which I haven't really seen since COVID has started. But, everything felt safe. You ordered through an app and all food and drinks were delivered to your table. I couldn't stay better things about Dorchester Brewing. They are doing it right! They also have parking right on the main street if you do want to drive over. read more

This is a laid back brewery with live music and ample space for hosting events. It has a rooftop overlooking a large industrial yard. There is also plenty of seating on the patio by the street. They tied a wristband to our wrists as soon as we entered to signify we are over the drinking age which suggests to me they do get younger crowds as well, though I didn't see any on our visit. We sat on the rooftop and had to go to the bar to get beers ourselves as no servers came to us. Beer was good. They also have pub food but we didn't try any. On the 1st floor were several vendors selling doughnuts and arts and crafts. Overall, it's a chill hangout joint for an outing with friends in the day or night. read more

My main issue is customer service. I had leftovers from brunch that I pulled out of my bag as I was looking for my ID. The door guy said I couldnt bring it in. Okay sure. So I asked if I could leave it at the door since I knew we were having one beer. He told me I could leave it on the floor. Thats just rude and disrespectful. I understand not eating/bringing outside food in but to tell someone they can leave their food on the ground like an animal is disrespectful. On top of that, when I left it on a spot, he moved it on the ground. As a native this just reeks of the issues locals have been having with non-locals. I never had this issue at Sam, Harpoon, or any other place. They trust you have manners and will not eat outside food. They dont put your food on the ground like you are an animal. As for the beer its mostly IPAs. Which is you like wheat beer or European styles like Triples, you will not like this. My experience made me realize how much the city has changed. There is no such thing as common courtesy anymore. I have stopped by bars after work and I have been able to bring my lunch box in and have a pint or two no problem. But now things are different people are hostile. read more

During the COVID-19 Pandemic we ordered beer to go and dinner from M&M BarBQ. We ordered in advance the night before. We called that day and told them what time we'd come by to get dinner. We order 1/2 rack ribs with 2 sides for $22. The ribs were tasty. For sides we got asparagus, cornbread and baked beans. We would have preferred more veggies as the asparagus were a wimpy portion. It's a been a couple years since I've come here and since then they've expanded with arcade games (basketball and pinball, etc.) on the first floor and a second floor bar with glass-paned ceiling and roof deck. Parking here is only on the street but there should be ample spaces on Mass Ave. depending on the night and the day of the week. We were here for a private event during the evening on the second floor and it was comfortably spacious for everyone to move around between the interior with high glass ceilings and industrial fans and the roof deck which overlooked part of Boston. They have a fairly good line-up of beer, from IPAs to lagers, pilsners to sours and a few selections of wine for anyone joining the party but having a preference for non-beer libations. Had I known we could've gotten flights, I would've ordered them but the stand-alone beers I ordered were pretty good - Forever OFD DIPA, 6th Anniversary DIPA and their Festbier. Will need to return during the day time to experience the roof deck when there's sunlight. read more

My only complaint is the mandatory $20 reservation fee they make you pay when booking online. You do get that money back in the form of instore credit but you cant use it on food or drinks in the brewery. We used the credit towards to-go beers at the store on the first floor. Overall the place was great! We stayed in the outdoor patio and had a decent view of the city. There was no space heaters in the outdoor patio, so we moved inside the Hopstervatory as it got colder. They have a pretty good beer selection and an option to make a beer flight for ($11). I got: Secret Pastures, Callista Helles, Savin Stout Nitro, Warp Rider and a pint of Pinky Swear. All the beer and food was reasonably priced. I ordered a chicken burger which was around ($10). It was good portion size and paired well with the beers. Our servers were nice and it had a cool atmosphere in the bar upstairs. Would definitely go back to try the other beers and the other sandwiches. read more

Love this brewery! It's in my hometown, so win-win!! Beers are delicious, they make new ones all the time. IPAs and pilsners and lagers for days. Service is pretty awesome, there's a cool bar scene, and then board games for entertainment. Can't go wrong! They don't serve food on the regular (that's about to change I think), but there's food trucks every week that pop by (Wahlburger's, American Provisions, e.t.c.) which is nice. It's always a good time here. If you haven't popped by here for a beer, then you're missing out! read more

Dorchester Brewing has a really nice atmosphere and a great location. It's relatively easy to park on the street and walk in. They have a beautiful outside patio as well as two sections in the interior. The design is industrial and really cool. The beers are pretty good but not outstanding. I didn't get much help with the menu, so I cannot tell you what the strengths were of the beers, or what Dorchester Brewing was all about. They had a table set up serving tacos. Dorchester Brewing is also LGBT friendly. The first time I went the weather was nice, so lots of people came for the patio. They served the beer in plastic cups, which isn't my thing. (I know lots of people disagree with that.) It was maybe a little too crowded in general that day. They were efficient at passing around the beer list on clipboards for people to read while waiting on line. I thought that was handy. But the second time I went it was cool outside. I was able to sit right at the bar, and I got my beer in the proper glass. After going the first time, they sent me an email afterwards for $5 off any order. That's what got me to go back a second time. However, the crowd just isn't friendly. People just came with their friends and weren't open to meeting others. The bartenders weren't friendly either. The security guys were all professional, however. To me, friendliness can make or break the experience. I would go back, but I would just have to bring a group of friends. read more

We showed up at 8 on a Tuesday night and asked to sit at the roof. We didn't think it was a problem as the roof was half empty. They told us it would be a 30-60 min wait (!) and that we could leave and come back (!) So we decided to sit downstairs (not a great experience). After 3 minutes I thought, this can't be right...so I went back to the host and asked to be put on a wait list. A different host was there and was able to seat us upstairs right away! When we were seated upstairs I counted 5 tables open aside from ours, most of which remained open the rest of the night. So weird. Couldn't help but wonder if we had been discriminated against, but honestly I think they just don't know what they're doing (or don't care). Beer was great. Food was meh. Typical over priced roof deck stuff. Mac and cheese in particular was weirdly dry, lukewarm, cafeteria food. Of course no one to speak to about it since there's no wait staff. Came here on a Saturday night. They make it super annoying to make a reservation because it's $30 and then you don't even get the $ back on your order but instead it goes to the merchandise/take out beers. That is a really frustrating business model. We were seated at a crappy table on the street and could smell the trash so after asking to be moved they luckily could put us on the roof/top floor which was very nice. The BBQ was good not great (I think that Blue Ribbon is better), and the drink list if whatevs, I would rather just not drink then spend the $ on the cider plus all that whack COVID tax they add. Why not just pay your employees during a pandemic instead of making the customer pay when all the person did was walk over and bring me my food. I would be happy to do that on my own if you just showed me where the kitchen is. Will not be back. This place is all hype. read more

I don't review often and usually try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but this truly heinous experience compelled me to warn others what they are getting into! DO NOT COME HERE EXPECTING TO HAVE FUN OR BE TREATED LIKE A VALUED GUEST. Also, I'm sure there will be a response blaming us for COVID policy compliance but the reality is we were treated poorly from the very beginning before people even had a chance to sit down. As others have mentioned, they have a borderline illegal reservation system. $20-30 per reservation which can't be applied to your bill. Need 2 tables to fit your party? That'll be double! But don't worry, you can spend it on overpriced merchandise on your way out. We in fact did need 2 tables, and were promised they'd be adjacent to one another. They were not. So we had to wait for other patrons to leave to be seated together. By that time, the 90-minute clock was already ticking because a few people had sat down at table #1. Even though it was an error on the part of management, they did not take reasonability, and in fact chose to point fingers at us. Management seemed to resent that we were a larger party, yet they were happy to take our double reservation fees ahead of time. My second time at Dorchester Brewing in the last year, and it disappointed again. They're quick to blame the M&M BBQ and say it's separate, but it's DBC on the door so they must accept some responsibility. I went there at 6:30pm, place wasn't too busy. Ordered food and beer, as required with the Covid restrictions someone must order food. My food order (a pretzel and French fries) was in at 6:37. A half hour goes by and still no food. I'm getting annoyed. At 7:12, my friend points out that you can "track" tour order on the site after placing it. I then go to the site and notice my order has supposedly been ready for 15 minutes already (it says completed 6:57). I go up to the bar where I'm told "oh, you have to talk to the BBQ guys - that's not us...." so I then walk over to the BBQ kitchen. I tell the guy I'm there for my order which should've been delivered to my table and that the site says it was completed. He proceeds to tell me it'll be ready soon and they'll bring it to my table. My food comes a little after 7:20. A pretzel and French fries should NOT take 50 mins. About 10 mins after receiving our food, we're given the countdown from a hostess that we have under 30 mins to occupy the table due to the 90 min limit. I don't have an issue with a 90-min limit but this is ridiculous if it takes that long to get the food. When we (as a table) mentioned how long the food was taking, the woman working just said "we don't have anything to do with that." Well, the separate DBC and M&M model might work on paper, but it doesn't work for customers and it doesn't work in reality. It's time DBC and M&'M get their acts together. Super cool atmosphere with really good selection of beers. I wasn't expecting much but the beers tasted very different from each other. Granted I didn't like all of them but there were so many different, distinct flavours that it was worth a trip. Only downside was there was nothing super memorable about any of the beers so didn't leave with anything. We got one of their hats though. They have cool merch. read more

Cool spot in Dorchester! The front area doesn't have tons of seating but was pretty spacious. There is an area behind the bar but it was being used by some private parties so we couldn't go back there. You can get way better views of the actual brewery from there. This place also has tons of board games so it's pretty easy to find yourself there for at least a few hours. I enjoyed all my beers. Favorite one had to be their new Stonefruit Steve Austin. Very delicious sour beer. Great spot for groups and to hang out on a week night. FYI: There isn't any food here but there are some snacks you can order. read more

We love Dorchester Brewing Company for a casual hang but they're also a great place for your next event! DBC helped us throw the perfect micro-wedding celebration in September 2021. They were so helpful throughout the planning process (and pandemic uncertainty) and made the day of the wedding run so smoothly. The space was beautiful, the staff were friendly and helpful, the beers were spectacular (we even brought some home), and the food from M&M BBQ was delicious. Everyone had such a fun time (and many of our local friends will definitely be back). We could not have imagined a more perfect, relaxed, and joyful wedding day surrounded by loved ones. The concept of brewery as a 'Third Place'-- that is a place to socialize and exist that isn't home or work, has exploded in recent years. DBco brings that much needed third place to Dorchester, Boston largest and most diverse neighborhood. The space is impressive. It seamlessly marries industrial chic, community coziness, a modern ski chalet-like greenhouse, a food truck, plenty of fresh air, and city views. It's a choose-your-own-adventure kind of space: you can shack up and do some work on the picnic tables on the ground floor by the bar, wander to the game room and play pinball and skee-ball, or set up in the new four season rooftop greenhouse (aka the Hopservatory). The last few times I've gone, the majority of the action was in the Hopservatory, which can actually get quite loud. The downstairs can offer a more chill vibe if that's your speed. I can't speak intelligently about the beer selection but I can say that there is something for everyone. They also have cider and wines as options. If you are curious about anything on the menu, such as what a 'Crowler' is (32 oz can) just ask. Everyone there was happy to help. For food, M&M BBQ has set up shop inside the brewery. Of local food truck fame, and with 30+ years of serving ribs in Boston, the partnership with the brewery seems natural. Grabbing some barbecue from a window and having a beer on a picnic table has some definite Austin vibes. The prices are very reasonable as well. With the new restrictions in place due to Coronavirus DBco and M&M have pivoted to take-out only. I went the other day and though the eerie feel to the air that is everywhere, was there too, the staff was welcoming and pushing on. We got two orders of the pork ribs, fries, collard greens and mac & cheese. Also enough 4-packs and crowlers to fill a medium backpack. The V1 Double IPAs pair excellently with the ribs. read more

Me and my fiancé held our engagement party here and it was amazing! The ambiance was the perfect backdrop to our party, but they let us bring in additional decorations. Booking with Derek was great, he was easy to communicate with. The staff on site were super nice and attentive. The food from M&M BBQ was so good! Gorgeous open-air seating on the roof. Plenty of clean space throughout the interior, both upstairs and down. Extra overflow seating on the front patio by the street. Games, beer, BBQ! Friendly staff. What more could you ask for? During restrictions for Covid-19, it's tough to find a place that balances a great customer experience with safety. DB manages both with amazing results. The new expanded building is easily 3x the size of the earlier version of this place so there's plenty of room between you and the next guy. It's like they envisioned the need for social distancing and frequent cleaning. The decor is urban chic with lots of honey-wood and soft metals and high ceilings and big windows. But the stools are just stools and the benches just benches, so no one is going to really settle into the furniture, but the beer (served in plastic cups -- yikes!) is great. I had a double hop which had a tangy delightful forward flavor -- the exact zing you want in a hop. We sat outside on the roof (with its own exterior egress! yay!) and so the clean air and slight breeze made the plastic cup tolerable. It felt great to be dining out and feel safe at the same time. The associated M&M BBQ is an excellent pairing. It's in-house (rather than just a truck or a pop-up) and delicious. We got a combo platter that included tastings of 3 kinds of meat and as many or more pickled veggies. Mustard, too. It hit on all the taste buds. I'll be back for more! The only dings are the tiny plastic accouterments for eating, along with the tiny plates and the tiny napkins. And the awkward ordering system via phone. I get that they're being safe(ish) but, other than quickly dropping the ordered items at our (numbered) table, there is no table service to speak of. The hosts at the door were friendly and efficient, but that was the last time we saw anybody we didn't flag down. When eating out, you're dependent on that person for the odd forgotten item -- a napkin? a dropped fork? help!! So, why not 4 stars instead of five? They're killing it during Covid, dangit. They're doing a great job and making it fun. Buy some merchandise. Get some DB-embossed TP. Grab some BBQ and a few hoppy brews! You'll feel almost great again! For reals. read more

Decided to visit Dorchester Brewing on a busy Saturday afternoon when they were celebrating Mardi Gras! We were lucky enough to snag part of a table so I could sit with my son, daughter-law and 17 months old grand baby. There were lots of happy patrons including many families with young children. They had a live band and Teddy loved listening to it, especially the tuba! I had a pint each of the SuperKrewe and the Stove By A Whale- both were very good. There are board games to play. This place is a fail. I went to have lunch and a beer. They don't serve you beer unless you buy food which is ok because i wanted food. So when it came time to order you have to order thru this app and when you do you HAVE to pay with a card otherwise you have to go down yourself and order your food. It was just way to much already. I was on crutches and reallt wasn't trying to do to much. We were trying to find a server to ask questions but none were coming to our table. We had to find one of them. I just decided to leave. Always a solid go to spot for a brewery in the city. Typically easy to find street parking. Great variety in beers from IPA's to a rich stout or a sour. My friends who are big sour heads have always been a fan of theirs. Plus they make great slushy seltzers for the summer. In terms of food I only l tried it during peak Covid- I remember their chicken sliders being decent and the other stuff was alright. However it looks like they expanded their food menu- so I def. will update my review once I try their updated menu! read more

Gosh, we've been wanting to check out this brewery for such a long time. My spouse was so excited to try the beer and BBQ. Unfortunately for us we drove from Malden with our two well behaved school age kids on a Saturday evening (5:45). We learned upon arrival that kids aren't permitted after after 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This info is on the webpage but buried enough we didn't see it. Very disappointing. We are very flexible and understanding of Covid guidelines. When we arrived we encountered a very rude host. He was very condescending about Covid rules and how busy the establishment was and lack of seating. We had asked if we could sit at a downstairs table while we waited for a table upstairs. The host said this was not acceptable due to how busy they were. No other groups were waiting outside. The host may have been enforcing policies but did not give a very good tone or represent Dorchester Brewing companies values I'm used to. We did, however, have an amazing server that brought us to our table and was kind and understanding. The ladies all seemed incredible. read more

I went to Dorchester Brewing for the first time today for a friend's birthday. I arrived around 3pm. The brewery itself was fine. There were a ton of IPA options, but not many other types of beers. IPAs aren't really my thing, but if you love IPAs, you'll have your choice. The bartender that served me tried to be funny, by calling me safe when I decided not to start a tab and "life of the party" when I said I normally only have one drink. He came across as an asshole though. There is a new food option there called M&M BBQ. Apparently, they recently started serving food full time. They have a lot of work to do. I kept hearing from others that the wait for food was 45 minutes. I waited until the line wasn't long Ann's went to order food around 5pm. When I finally got up too the register, I was told that they were not taking orders for an hour since they were so backed up on orders. After talking to others, this was a message that people had gotten earlier in the day. The brewery's website specifically states no outside food is allowed inside. However, if this is the case, your food option needs to be able to handle serving the amount of customers trying to order food. Drunk people not allowed to order food or having to wait 45+ minutes for food doesn't sound like a good mix. After finding out I wouldn't be able to order food, I left. I probably won't be returning based off this experience. read more
