Review based on visit from end of November 2025. I've loved this arcade for over a decade, but my most recent visit was a mixed bag. Understandingly, a lot of games (and the upstairs pinball area) were unavailable due to remodeling. What was harder to overlook was the service at the bar. It felt like we were an inconvenience to the person working. On the bright side, the DJ was awesome and really made our night! I'm looking forward to seeing the final remodel, but I hope the service experience improves by the next time I swing by.

40% of the cabinets don't work

Once a classic staple, Dorky's has become a stain on Tacoma. By many accounts, this is due to the beliefs and behavior of the owner, which has warped the arcade into a shadow of its former self. A few years ago you'd walk in and feel the thrill of potential - flashing lights and rows upon rows of a wide variety of games to play. At night, loud music would pump over a maze of cabinets awash in neon and black light. Stepping in now, it looks like the arcade was an afterthought. So what happened? My understanding is that after the owner's racism (and horrifyingly callous behavior after an employee got shot on the job) came to light, the cabinet manufacturers withdrew their games from Dorky's, leaving the space empty and sad. The owner had to pull out his old cabinets from storage and close down the second level by the bar. It used to have state-of-the-art games like the Star Wars Battlepod, but now I think there was only one title I recognized, the rest being generic filler games - very much D-tier stuff. About 40% of the cabinets were nonfunctional, including an entire corner dedicated to broken games like a graveyard ("a resurrection corner!" the owner corrected me). The food has always been arcade food - nauseatingly greasy pizza and frozen snacks popped in a microwave, and more often than not my experience with the staff has been curt and unpleasant. The owner, for his part, appears to be on a journey of self-improvement, so we'll see if he's able to rebuild the goodwill he burned over the last few years. Historically, he'd deal with conflict by denying and deflecting responsibility in long, childish facebook rants. I hope that he has truly changed, or that someone else steps in to guide this Tacoma staple back into better days.

lol like really???

This place sucks so bad. Mirroring what a lot of other reviews have already said, we were charged $20 (for 2 people) to enter for hardly any of the games to work. Wish I would have looked at the reviews but I typically never need to do that for an arcade bar....... stayed as long as I could stand it to feel like I got at least some portion of my moneys worth and got out of there. Stay away from this place LOL.

Fun for old school arcade! Enjoyed a couple of beverages and then settled into some 2 player Ms. Pac Man.

Love this place. Reminds me of my childhood. The only difference is you don't have to put quarters on the game to make sure you are next.

It's pretty cool. There's lots of old and new games. Drinking and playing arcade games with your drunk friends is the best.

Ask the Community - Dorky's Bar Arcade

Does dorkys have music/ sound system? A you request the type of music?

Do they still have DDR machines?

No. There isn't anything here that I want to play anymore. It's all junk. 😞

Are minors ok to play during the day? Thanks

Yes, I think it's either 9 or 10pm the age goes to 21. Up to that point it's good. They do sell beer, so you might see people walking around with some. A nice arcade all…

I heard that minors are not allowed in after 9pm (I wanted to take my girlfriend here after prom). Is this true?

This is true. Sorry!

If you drop your phone it's gaurenteed cracked. They have a brick floor. You're doomed.... oh and there's a possibility you'll pick it up with gum stuck to the screen?

Don't forget the beer sticky floor so you may not be able to pick it up. But the gum will help your cracked screen until you get it fixed at a screen doctor. ;)

On top of that, most all Pinball machines (which, might I add that there are a giant selection) are only 50¢.

Such a cool 70s vibe! I loved all the decor and the ambience! My large group took a seat in the back near the swordfish and fireplace, which I loved!! I had a lemon drop, which was absolutely perfect. My only complaint came by the request of my two friends who are steadfast, "old-fashioned" drinkers. Their old fashions had some type of red flowers sprinkled in the drink. Every time they took a sip, they complained! I eventually went up to the bar at the end and they told us it was Bergamont! So perhaps if you'd like to stick to the classic, ask to skip the Bergamont- as it has a very strange texture when you're drinking the drink. Overall, really, really cool place!

At first glance it appears super tiny, but the bar goes back pretty far and is a good size. We got there before the nighttime crowds and managed to score the cozy couch in front of the fireplace in the back. It filled up quickly after that, though! The mood is moody and cozy, the perfect spot for making this apart of date night. I can't speak much to the food as we did not order any, but the menu is pretty elevated for a bar. I wouldn't say this place is divey at all, but the menu was still surprising. Service was good and they had a great selection of drinks. I got a hazy IPA (as per usual) and it was delicious! We also got a couple of shots here and absolutely adored the shot glasses they use. They look like tiny cocktail glasses! Overall we thought Holy Moly was a vibe and we will definitely include this in our 6th Ave rotation.

The food is my favorite part. I can have a beer anywhere, but the food is actually pretty on point minus the nachos, sad to say. Always overcooked, cheese is hardened and well beyond melted, but a massive portion in size. The sandwiches are amazing, the quesadillas are amazing, have yet to make it there before breakfast ends but I'm betting it's probably pretty good. Staff are friendly, efficient, and do well on checking to make sure you're not waiting too long for service without being too bothersome. It gets a little loud, busy and crowded on nights especially on the weekends, but that's typical bar atmosphere. Patio seating is nice on sunny days like today. 5/5 for a hometown spot in the neighborhood.

The cook should check the soup pot on a regular basis to ensure that the chowder is hot and ensure that the fish is at least 135 degrees and let it warm up to over 140 degrees before serving. We do love pinball, but we might have come along this place randomly. It's been busy the few times we have been, which tend to be weekend afternoons. Lot of machines available, seems like frequent tournaments are going on. According to pinball map they have 24 machines, which is pretty large compared to some places. Not so busy you can't play though, prices are comparable. It doesn't seem too claustrophobic like some places, lots of space to move around. Full bar and friendly service. Places to sit. Definitely check this out if you like pinball. I don't think they have food, but I could be wrong.

The menu is accessed by QR codes on the table. They have an *extremely* long list of cocktails, all named appropriately with the theming, but somewhat lacking in variety. Most of the cocktails are some combination of rum, spices, lime/lemon, and maybe something else fruity or sweet. My wife had a Ships from Far Shores while I enjoyed an Astro Orbiter. Their menu has an indicator of how strong each drink is, and it doesn't lie. The Astro Orbiter tasted great but was indeed quite strong. The staff were extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed the evening we went, so we weren't able to grab any food, but hopefully we'll to try some the next time we stop by.
