Ample parking in the strip mall parking lot. Nice outside area for waiting as well as seating for dining. Drink specials were on a dry erase board outside which were a dogtini (cute name!). We ordered a large queso, large guacamole, kids cheeseburger (which was fresh made and not greasy) with fries, steak fajitas, shrimp tacos and taco salad. All was served fresh, hot and quickly. Gross. I was in town for work and went with the crew for lunch. I ordered the pick 2 with a chicken soft taco and a chili relleno. The taco was absolutely flavorless, essentially just salted chicken with some cheese in a tortilla. But the chili relleno had literally 1 small nibble of pepper in it. I literally couldn't find it and asked the waitress if they had perhaps made a mistake. She pointed to the menu: the description was something like "beef and cheese with a piece of bell pepper". I dug around and sure enough, there was the tiny 1/2" bite size of pepper. That was it. She pointed and triumphantly said "see, there it is" and walked away. I was duped, but never again. Google chili relleno and compare the image results to what I got. I hope you laugh as hard as I did. The salsa was also quite bland; white bread has more spice in it. Other than a nice decor, I have pretty much nothing positive to say about this place. read more

Update- next day, wait staff makes all the difference. I thought this would be the perfect place to meet my daughter near I20. My daughter waited for me 1/2 hour and the waitress never came and she had no water. We only saw the waitress once until it was time for the check. Others in the restaurant who brought food tried and were much quicker, but we did not get napkins initially and I asked for napkins twice before we got them. Previous day - We came in hungry and thirsty and left completely happy. I am baffled by the 3 star reviews. We sat in the bar area and our waiter was attentive and prompt. Our 12 and 16 oz margaritas on the rocks were delicious, the chips with two types of salsa made our day at 7:30pm - we were very hungry! Tonight must have been one of those off nights. My fajitas were so over cooked and my margarita was extremely watered down. Probably because it sat at the bar for almost ten minutes. Service tonight was nothing but awful. So bad I considered not tipping at all and that's something Ive only done once in my life. But she's getting ten percent. Much much much lower than I usually tip. Our server was too interested in either her baby or her sisters baby, not sure. They were at the table beside us and she kept holding the child and walking around with it than doing her job. Service here has never been the greatest but tonight was the worst! My daughters nachos were obviously microwaved and some of the cheese wasn't even melted. My Honey had the Carnitas and they were flavorless. Overall just not a good experience tonight. It's really too bad that we can't give zero points because there was absolutely nothing. Good about this place. Terrible customer service Stell chips after asking for fresh chips. We got more steel chips. They bring your burrito out, wrapped in foil completely not what you asked for and then threatened to call the cops because we asked for it to be taken off of our ticket. Before we left, we had six people up there like they were going to guard us or pounce on us if we didn't pay. Wow!!! I can only imagine if the manager was so rude and incompetent. Stopped here on a road trip and am so glad I did! The service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious and came out almost instantly!! Got the Texas fajitas and some of the special Halloween drinks and would definitely recommend if you're in the area! Great choice for a day that I had to eat at my desk! I got the chicken and steak tacos da alambre this is my new go to. Usually when you get take out tacos they are soggy and just not good by the time you get to where you are going. But these hold up great! I loved the green sauce I think it was verde had a little bite to it definitely get a extra cup it's delicious. They had a bit of a wait when we went but we were seated promptly and taken care of as soon as we sat down! Our waitress was friendly and made sure we knew what the specials were. She was also great about keeping our drinks full and chips refilled. It was nice on the inside, what you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant. Very colorful and lively music playing. Maybe it would have been good if I could have gotten service. I was there today with a friend. We asked for a waitress 3 times but still no one came to our table. Oh course I had already given them the second chance when we were waiting in line. When we arrived no one was at the hostess desk but 2 employees walked up but did not greet us. They talked to each other as if we were not there. Later 2 white girls walked into the restaurant and they were greeted very friendly but then one of the girls said I think they were here first speaking of me and my friend. We were seated and then forgotten. I am only giving one star because a young boy brought us chips and a beverage because we kept asking for a waitress. Others all white except for a group that was large with two black men in the group were getting chips, sides and having their orders taken. They all entered the restaurant after us and we're seated after us. Oh and I should not forget the kind young man also cleaned the dirty table we were seated at. I can't rate the food it never came but the Pepsi was refreshing. I just wish I had food to go with it. I went to the hostess desk to ask for the manager and 3 employees were there. Excellent stop on a road trip. We had our dogs with us and needed a place we could eat on a patio with them, and all the kids were asking for Mexican food, and this was the first place that popped up as a contender. The service was adequate, though nothing spectacular, but the food was amazing. We have three different go-to Mexican restaurants in our hometown and this was better than all of them, hands down. Everything we ordered was delicious, and with a family of eight there was plenty of opportunity for a let down. If we are ever passing through Madison again, we will stop by! read more

This is my second time dining here at Dos Amigos and both times have been wonderful! We started off with the Chorizo cheese dip and it is addictive! This time around, I ordered the Pollo Relleno which came with rice, grilled plantains, and mango salsa! The mango in the salsa was a tad unripe, but the flavor with the relleno pepper was delicious! Our server seemed a bit upset, but she still made sure our drinks and complementary salsas were always filled! They serve two different types of salsa and the browner one is definitely my favorite! My husband and i stopped here on our way home to Charleston SC. We'd never heard of it but saw lots of vehicles parked in front so figured it was "safe". It exceeded our expectations. The food and service was exceptional. We eat out at Mexican restaurants maybe once a month and had never tasted anything like one of the salsas that was brought out by our server Briana. Briana told us about it then offered to send some home with us. she was very attentive throughout our time there and never forgot a single thing, which happens fairly often at other restaurants. Today on 09/19/2022 was the worst service of any take out I've had in a long time. I ordered 2 build your own bowls with steak and other ingredients. Patiently wait about 30 min. for my food. Get home start to eat and guess what no sign of steak in my bowl. The same for the other bowl. I know you are supposed to check your food before you leave. How can you check with lettuce cheese, rice, tomatoes,fried beans for steak. Some things just need to be in the bowl period. Called back they apologized and offered a refund or I could come get the steak. I went back for it but by the time I got back my food was not good. Last time they left out my shrimp. I must admit I was very skeptical when I first walked in they describe themselves as Authentic however they do not have the traditional Mexican foods that I associate with Authentic Mexican. No Pastor pork no Horchata and no Lengua! Upon entering the door at approximately 12:05 I was immediately seated in a booth and before my rump had even touched the seat the chips with two types of salsa was being placed before me. I ordered queso and took more than adequate time perusing the menu while enjoying my chips salsa and cheese. The two bowls of salsa were pretty good with one being the standard mild red sauce with a good flavor while the second was a thin brown base with large pieces of onion cilantro and some tomato the flavor was very bold and welcoming almost coaxing you to come back for more so I did three bowls worth. I ordered the Carne Barra which was a skewer with chunks of ribeye, green pepper, onion and bacon normally served on the standard base of grilled peppers and onions. I opted to add the available chorizo and Chihuahua cheese it also comes with the rice beans and salad on the side with fresh steamed tortillas. The flavor was over the top the steak grilled a perfect medium rare and the bacon was right on spot however I feel that the chihuahua cheese was the crowning touch drizzled down the center. The server was very attentive but not bothersome my drink stayed full and any request was taken care of immediately even though there was a nice lunch crowd I was treated as if I was her only customer!Overall a great meal with great service no complaints and I will return! read more

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant but after a remodel about a year ago it has been replaced. I keep going back every couple of months hoping situations will have changed, but I've not had such luck lately. Don't get the taco salad. It's basically a lettuce in a bowl with a large "chip" placed over it. Not your traditional taco salad bowl - I was very shocked by this. Most menu prices are exceedingly overpriced. The average entree starts at $12-$14 and does NOT include rice or beans. That is an extra $4. Their salsa is really good and I love the dark smoked salsa they offer. (Honestly That is probably what keeps drawing me back) and service is spotty depending on your server. Some are excellent while others are less enthusiastic. read more

We had the opportunity to eat lunch here on Taco Tuesday. It is an okay place for ambiance. We were seated way in the back and waited and waited. After 10 minutes the waitress came for our drinks. After another 5 minutes, she came with them and took our order. She disappeared for 45 minutes, while we waited and waited. Our tacos came finally. While not great, they were filling. It was odd to us that you had to pay extra for anything that you wanted on your taco besides cheese, meat, and lettuce. Our waitress finally brought the check and on it there was a note for a 3% surcharge if you used your card rather than cash. We paid CASH! I am told that other than the tacos, their regular meals are quite good, but I doubt that we will come back to try them. read more

Despite reviews of this place, me and a friend decided to stop by and try. I have to say the food was quite delicious, good amount of cheese and seasonings, and pretty reasonable for the price. It's not a place to go to if your really on a budget, though. Between 2 people I spent $44. The service, however, could've been a lot better, hence why I knocked off 2 stars. Our server was OK, he was friendly enough. But it was slow and they weren't even that busy. Little to no communication that you'd usually get, and the attitude was more "dull" than a welcoming or lively environment. I'm used to the service where the server has a smile, asking me how's the food, checking up on us often, and we got none of that. We had to call our server over several times just because he didn't naturally come just to see how we were doing.. but overall if they had delivery or DoorDash, I'd eat it anytime I wanted Mexican food in the area, but besides that I'd get it to-go, not eat in. I guess it depends on what server you get and how they're feeling, because mines acted like he was ready to go home and it was only lunch time. Really disappointed with dos amigos, the stupidity is rampant here with the covid crap. So the place is at 1/2 capacity because we all know covid only spreads in restaurants and not Walmart. So we order in this half empty shit show and they can give us a real spoon, a real knife, eat on real plates, drink a drink out of a real glass but CANT HAVE A REAL FORK???? I'm disappointed in the service we received last night on 8/28. We were there to celebrate a 40th birthday and there was about 12 of us in the back room. My friend ordered a chicken burrito and another member of our party ordered steak. When the man came out with all the dishes, my friend asked the man if this was chicken and he nodded yes. Well she cut into it and without looking took a bite and it was steak. Not a big deal right? Let's just get it fixed and get chicken and move on. The waitress comes over and we tell her and instead of a simple "oh no, let me take that and get the right one" we get "well we can get you a chicken one but your gonna have to pay for that". She was ready to bring it the other person at the table after it had been bitten into! We told her that we asked the man who brought the food and her response was that he does not speak English, not our problem and not an excuse. So we ask for a manager who could have possibly been worse then the waitress. No apology, just a look of inconvenience and complete attitude. Again talking just about who was gonna pay for the kitchens screw up! Lord have mercy, where are you finding these girls? We expect to get what we ordered and pay ONLY for what we ordered. You mess up the order then that's on the restaurant to take care of it. Once everyone got their food, no one cleared tables at any point in time, I never got a water, maybe I needed to ask? They brought out a birthday dessert and there was no where to put it because there were dishes everywhere. Just very disappointed with the staffs attitude. It could've been so simple to remedy but instead they chose to be combative and only care about who was paying for what. Please get some customer service training in there. Overall good experience. Food was good and cooked how i like it, chips were pretty fresh and i've noticed most mexican places around here the chips are kinda stale. Ordered a Simple Quesadilla and added grilled chicken from their menu, shell got a little burnt and the waitress made a point to tell me it got a little toastier than normal and asked if i wanted them to remake it, despite the fact it was near closing time which was super nice of them. Onto the cons, our server was basically half naked. I feel like at a place of business you should be dressed professionally, and i definetley didn't wanna see butt cheeks hanging out of her shorts and her whole belly hanging out of her shirt. The servers were also showing their irritation with my table as we came in roughly 40-30 minutes before closing time.
