Initially we were going to go to the Locust Grove location, but I noticed online they had a Jackson location. Very convenient since they live in Jackson nest I-75. They had tried the LG location a couple weeks back and liked it. My wife and I had never been to any Gabinos before. We arrived and had ample parking to select from. We entered the restaurant and we're seated within 1 minute. The server gave us each a menu and took our drink order immediately. They serve Coke products. I selected the Mr Pibb ($2.95). The drink was nice and sweet, and good carbonation Since this was our first time, and our friends second time, we had to look over the menu. The server checked back in on us three times making sure that she was there when we were ready. While we waited, we snacked on some salsa and tortilla chips which were provided complimentary. Salsa was very thin on ingredients and runny. The tortilla were cooked a bit too long. All of us agreed on this point. I ordered the two meat fajita combo, for two people size. ($31.95) I wanted to have some for the wife and I tomorrow as well. Once we placed our order, the items were out within 7 minutes, steaming hot. We all remarked about how quickly the items arrived. My two meats were steak, and chicken. Both meats were pound down thinly, and partially precut. They were on your standard cast iron platter. The meat was on top of some vegetables. Not too much of the veggies under it. Since it was the size order for two, it came with 3 flour tortilla, for each person, rolled in aluminum foil. They looked to be about 6 inches round. The meats did have seasoning, but I would consider it on the much lighter side. The chicken tasted fine, but it did have a weird chew to it when biting through it. The steak was on the done side of cooked vs medium, so it had some toughness to it. Even though the meats were a bit chewy, it still didn't ruin the meal. I should have asked for the steak to be cooked medium. The side plate had a small lettuce amount, about 3 tbsp of pico, rice, beans with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Our server was fantastic. She checked on us very often, and refilled things quickly without needing to be requested to. Overall I felt this was an average food experience. Nothing for the meal stood out as fantastic, nor as bad. I will likely not visit again, as it isn't to my personal taste preference.

We had hoped to experience some of the chefs specials but on that holiday it was primarily a buffet with burgers and wings. With that said my wife and I were quite impressed with the quality of both the burgers and wings and especially the dipping sauces for the wings. On our second visit we brought family. There were a total of six of us and we each had different items from the chefs specials. Every one of them was excellent with loads of flavor. I know the new chef is trying to find items that work. While everything we had was extremely flavorful we felt that the falafel was not an item that would do well in this area. It was delicious, we just didn't feel it was something that would work here. Where they have made great improvements is putting a covering over the outside area. Also we felt our service was quite good. They could work on minimizing the flies in the outside area. One other thing. In our party there were three veterans. Two former regular service men and one a former national guard and army reservist. A very nice young man noticed the Navy veteran cap on one of the men in our party. He came over and thanked him for his service and talked with us for a while. After that he left. A few moments later our wait person came to us and told us that the young man had bought two rounds of drinks for us as well as the appetizer we had purchased. We had hoped to be able to thank this young man but he had left. All in all I would say keep giving this place a try because I'm convinced it's going to only get better.

I went with the Twisted Talons & Ale Cheese, which I enjoyed while having a wonderful conversation with the owner Tambra (I'm unsure if I'm spelling her name correctly). I will definitely be back to try a flat bread, as they sound delicious from the menu descriptions. I will definitely be thinking about the Greek Goddess until I get to try it. This is just a quick review of my short visit. I will update my next. However, I'll leave some pictures I took, so you will have an idea for yourselves.
