    11$ piece of pie

I had a great lunch and I will not lie about it but 25$ a margarita 10$ for queso and 11$ for a piece of pie for average just isn't it. 10$ lunch plate kind of place with menu prices for a somewhere else. We have been hoodwinked or Bamboozled and maybe even both.

After a horrible experience trying to have dinner at Yesterday's in Bridgeport, we left there and came to Dos Chiles for dinner as we probably should have done in the first place. Every time we come to Dos Chiles, the hostesses are friendly, the service is always great. Waitresses and Waiters are always prompt, friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. Also I'd like to point out that one member of our party asked for a one-off on the menu, and the waitress didn't blink twice. She said we can do whatever you want. She did advise there might be a slight up charge for the extras, but said they'd do whatever we wanted. The food was prepared just as she requested. It's that kind of service that keeps all of us coming back to Dos Chiles time and time again.

We had the fried ice cream for dessert and it was delicious.

I knew it was Tex Mex restaurant when I ordered in flawless Spanish and our waitress had no idea what I was saying.

I asked if I could do 1/2 and 1/2 (green and red) and the gentleman (owner?) said he could technically do it, but didn't really want to. I will admit I did not realized that "Dipped" meant a ladle dumped on top of a burrito. I asked for pinto beans, and got black beans. There was hardly any peppers or onions in my burrito, making it a cheese and black bean burrito, which was sad and soggy after sitting in the sauce (see pics). My wife ordered the quesadilla, and after one bite spit it out. The queso was so watered down it literally had no flavor left at all, and wouldn't cling to the chip (which were cold and stale). When I asked if they had any "fresh queso", the gentleman told him me he had been running restaurants for 37 years, and had owned this one for 12 years! Makes no difference, the queso was awful. He did offer to refund my money, but I did not take him up on it. It seemed they really didn't want us in there. We did not feel welcome. We won't be back. 2 Stars.

I hesistate to write the great review this place deserves, because I don't want it to get swamped!…read more It's a great little Tex-Mex place in Chico, right on the square. The owner is a sister of the family Casa Torres family, and the menus are extremely similar! As one of the previous reviews mentioned, it's nothing fancy but the food is really good! Add in the staff is super nice, the prices are extremely reasonable, and I don't have to wait in line for an hour on Friday night... this stock is soaring on this place! I had the number 1 which was 2 enchiladas (one in cheese, one in carne), 1 tamale, 1 taco, and it came with beans and rice. Delicious! Of course, it started w/chips and salsa... and the spicy salsa was different than Torres! However, it was delicious and I really liked it! Afterwards, we had sopapillas, and let me tell you... cinnamon sugar and pastry with butter ALWAYS hits the spot!! They biggest difference, and the one I was disappointed it, was they do not yet have the Spinach Enchiladas. The room is huge, and they are doing a great job w/ masks and social distancing... and there was an additional huge banquet room I almost missed. This place can do some serious business!! There's no open bar, but it might be worth it to many people... it will be to us! We will be back! 5 STARS #ShopLocal

It is a neat place inside but that doesn't overcome the shortcomings. I had Mexican food many times in the last couple days so I opted for the jalapeño peach pork chop. It was honestly tougher than leather- I really needed a sawsall to cut it. The flavor was fine. I knew I was in trouble when it arrived with a couple Libby's peaches fresh from the can sitting on the pork chop. My sides were tasteless mashed potatoes and steamed, mushy veggies. Chips and salsa, average. Queso with flavorless ground beef, average. My son had the birria tacos which were good. Not great by any stretch- it wasn't a traditional recipe and didn't have the traditional Oaxaca cheese. They used cheddar or another orange cheese. He said "good", I will call them "average": He ate all of the rice so it must have been decent. I didn't try a margarita but the ones I saw looked pretty typical for such a place big glass and probably average. I wouldn't eat here again. $50 for 2, no alcohol and I had water. We did get an order of Queso. There has to be better Mexican places than this nearby.
