The waiter had offered full customization for the dish, from how the fish was prepared to substituting sides. We still opted for the classic preparation, and were both shocked at the quantity and quality of the plates. It came with 2 catfish fillets that were large and fried to perfection! It's so easy to over fry fish and I was delighted to find that wasn't the case. The tartar sauce tasted homemade and was also so good. I've never had green beans prepared the way they were - they were almost in a Cajun type gravy. My only complaint was there wasn't more. And the fries are those perfect restaurant fries that almost have a slight coating on the outside to be crispy and tender at the same time. We also shared a Cajun Bloody Mary that was to die for. Nothing fancy on the inside, but comfortable. I can't wait to come back and try some real Cajun dishes next time.

My favorite is their fried shrimp and okra. If you have been to Pappadeaux then you know the prices are pretty high for fried shrimp and know that Bayou Jacks tastes better, the batter and shrimp flavor are really good at a more reasonable price. The service is great and they offer a casual dining experience. Please give them a try and become a fan!
