Very impressed with this gem in Paris, TX. Dropped by for dinner about 6pm tonight while in town. Service was prompt and friendly and a great selection was available on the menu as well as on chalkboard specials. I ordered the Dos Marias Fajitas, which had beef, chicken and grilled shrimp - as well as beans, rice, grilled onions/peppers, cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Everything needed for a fantastic feast. The food was well presented, well seasoned, cooked just right and served hot. I also ordered a small queso and topped off the evening with a flan. The flan was very good. The queso could have been cheesier and have a little less corn starch. Was however very flavorful, in regards to the seasoning. Very nice meal in Paris. read more

We are not from the area and came here based on the reviews. We were served by a real life version of the Seinfeld Soup Nazi. Within minutes of sitting down he asked for our order and when we asked for more time, he rolled his eyes and spun on his heals to march away, only to return 2 minutes later. When my hubby ordered enchiladas and tried to refer back to the menu when asked which sauce he wanted, he was told the queso, and the menu was taken from his hands. it was just crazy enough to be seriously entertaining. We couldn't stop laughing. As for the food.. we are not from Texas, (we are west coasters) and we have yet to adapt our taste to Tex-mex, so we were not impressed. Oh how I miss west coast greasy spoon Mexican. As far as Tex-mex goes this was typical. Mild salsa, greasy, cold chips, bland, overcooked chicken, too much tortilla, chimichanga was not fried , ground beef tacos store bought taco shells. It wasn't horrible. I'd say... average/typical tex-mex, you can find at any number of Texas Mexican restaurants. So the Texas search. One day I will find shredded beef tacos in fresh, fried shells, cheese covered, flavorful rice, fried chimichangas smothered in cheese and red enchilada sauce, cheese enchiladas with more cheese then tortilla, all served w a generous side of lettuce, tomato and cheese lightly dressed w oil and vinegar. While most people are accustomed to crossing the border to get great Mexican food, I have found amazing Mexican food by crossing the nearest border; from Oklahoma to Texas. The quaint town of Paris -no passport required- Texas is the home of Dos Marias, a small but incredible restaurant serving fajitas so amazing that I couldn't stop eating them, even long after I was full. I recommend the chicken, which is so tender that each bite melts in your mouth, and rewards you with a delectable combination of spices and seasonings that is unlike anything I've ever tasted. Your experience begins with a huge basket of chips and salsa that resembles tomato sauce (I was concerned because there weren't any "chunks" like a picante salsa) but is one of the best restaurant condiments I've experienced. Bottomless sodas flow with the attentive wait staff and the facilities look brand new with festive decor and cozy environment. The restaurant is packed with locals, so you know that this is one of the best places in town. Best Mexican food I have had for a while. I tried several in Livingston and was disappointed. Most were too Tex for my tastes. When I want Texas I go for bbq which is excellent. But when I go for Mexican no Tex-Mex for me-- I want food like aunt Juanita's. These people work hard and hustle. Servers were patient, polite and food came out quick and plates were extremely hot. Extensive menu including burgers and fries if someone prefers it. We had enchilads, chille relleno and tacos with beans and rice. Both refried beans and rice were good as were chips and salsa. I won't be back for awhile cuz I was just passing through but I would definitely go again. If you want authentic this place is pretty good! read more

We were just in Paris, TX, for one night on our way from Galveston to Kansas. Saw the good Yelp reviews, so stopped for dinner. In a word-- yum-oh! We shared the shrimp fajitas and there was a generous amount of everything. You guys close to the coast don't realize how fresh the shrimp is here (ya know KS is land-locked; ha!). The shrimp was great, the salsa was great, the guaco, beans and rice were great. We left stuffed and satisfied. The only thing that would have made this better was if they had Margaritas (no alcohol, FYI). Totally a great find and if we're ever in the vicinity, I'd stop here again. read more

Found a gem in Paris, TX. We enjoyed the Steak San Jose and the Rancho Viejo. Both came with homemade tortillas and guacamole. We ordered the lunch portion for dinner, and took home leftovers. The waitstaff were all friendly. read more

Great quick Mexican food joint! The fajitas are amazing and they serve really large delicious shrimp. I like the option of ordering the lunch size portions at dinner. Wait staff was a little rude and rushed even though we were one of only a few tables on a Monday night. Stopped here on the way through town. They have a varied menu. There were 4 of us (2 adults & 2 teenagers). We had plenty to keep us all happy. Queso and chips, guacamole tostado (homemade guacamole), enchiladas (chicken & cheese) beef fajitas & bean burrito. We had a plate of Sopapillas for dessert (3 on order). They had lots of specials and lots of combinations and à la carte (with picky teenagers the a la cart was certainly nice to have ). We came here for lunch after hearing good things about this place. I love Mexican food, especially fajitas, so I was excited to try it. We were greeted promptly and ordered our drinks and some queso. The chips were pretty good but somewhat bland and lacking flavor. The salsa was good and the queso was good. All about average. We ordered the chicken and beef fajitas. The food was brought out quickly, along with our ticket. Then our waiter... was gone. I guess when they bring your food with the ticket, they are done? The fajitas were average. Trying some of the beans, rice and meat by themselves, each were bland. But when you put it all in the tortilla with some salsa, it went together well. We had to flag someone down for a to-go box and refills. So, overall, the food was okay. I'd probably try other places in the area before returning but I would return at some point. BEWARE: They do not practice social distance or practice safety during covid. Not authentic Mexican food, caters to American Tex Mex. Expensive for it being Tex amex food. Food was very very greasy, as if it was dunked in grease. Very salty too. We were never asked if we wanted a refill. Our waitress kept touching her fake eyelashes with her hands and then was bringing us our food. They were putting utensils together in the napkins without using gloves with big fake long nails, touching their faces, and on the table. Gross! A small Tex mex restaurant with authentic mixed in. They offer daily specials for a very reasonable price. We really enjoy their street tacos and Amy's dip. They do NOT serve alcohol so you can't get a margarita with your Mexican food. They offer American food as well. The service is great and they get you seated and fed very quickly. read more
