This dinner theatre is simply wonderful! Something we look forward to regularly- especially the wonderful dinners that go with the shows! The entertainers are varied and we really enjoyed all groups we came to see! Especially grateful for Peter Noone and Herman and the Hermits !! We absolutely adored each show! The last one was scheduled in the Crossing in Tomball - fun , but nothing like the Dosey Do ultimate gun and up close dining experience we loved so much! When will Peter Noone be back eith Herman and the Hermits? What other groups are in your program!!?? 5 HUMONGOUS stars for absolutely EVERYTHING!! From the minute we got there and interacted with the friendly parking attendant who adeptly directed us into a premium up front spot we felt like family! Once inside, it was so cozy and homey and we were treated like special guests in someone's home! Such personal service by the most polite and pleasant staff. I have never been treated so well at a concert in my life. Whether it was pouring us drinks or showing me where the restroom was we were met with true southern hospitality. The bathrooms were clean, the food was delicious and the venue itself nothing short of amazing! It is smaller than you think which makes it so you feel right up close to the performers. Never mind that Girl Named Tom were nice enough to come upstairs to the balcony to do a few songs and they walked right by us and stopped to chat! I mean where else can you have that happen?? The salad was fresh and crisp and the chicken fried steak was a real piece of steak not just pounded cube steak. The green beans were perfectly prepared with some bite to them still and not the canned kind. My husband's pork tenderloin was also good and his sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts were perfection. The food is good. I got the ginormous chicken fried steak, and they weren't kidding when they said ginormous! The chicken fried steak was quite big! The waitress is really nice. The thing to really look forward to here though is the sound quality. They were right when they said it was one of the best listening rooms in the world! Went here to see Chad Prather. And it did not disappoint. I have been to Dosey Doe in the past but never for a concert or comedy show. This was an excellent venue! The people that were sitting around us were very nice, and it was very picnic style. The food was pretty good, but you can tell the kitchen was a little overwhelmed by the number of people ordering at the same time. That's OK. It was a prefix menu anyway. Chad was hysterical. The place is charming and the service was good but the food is horrible. Everyone in our party said the chicken had a chicken gravy it was gross. So I asked for chicken fried steak gravy to help to eat the meal and that gravy was bland. The carrots were not properly cooked either. Our friend tried the Chicken Fried Steak and said it was nothing to brag about either. My husband ate the blackened fish after hearing everyone around us complain how poor the food is and he said it was pretty good except the carrots were not cooked good also. So I hope they can do something about the food as I would like to go back but that food needs to change. read more

We bought tickets and after an hour of waiting to park, we get shooed thru by two different men who we thought were valet attendants. Been attending concert shows at Dosey Does for several years. It is a small "Listening Room" which offers a up close Artist experience. The acoustics are absolutely amazing. My main issue is that within the past 6-7 months,Management has not reminded, nor enforced the rule of NOT TALKING while the Artist performs. Mixed feelings... We had tickets for 2 to the Bacon Brothers show September 10th. This was our first time at Dosey Doe Big Barn and our first evening out since Covid began. We arrived 15 minutes before the doors opened. The front lot is small and was filled, but a parking attendant guided us to the Pawn shop lot next door (also small). I can't advise how the parking was in the rear lot. Check in went relatively fast and smooth. The exterior and interior is rustic with cool touches of nostalgia and past artists. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful all evening. The wait staff were stretched thin and worked their butts off. After being seated, my chair was so uncomfortable that I switched with one next to me. It was smaller, rickety and with almost no padding (I could feel the bones). I switched to the next one and it was so tiny as if for a student desk. I ended up back with my original chair. Seating is very tight and you are shoulder to shoulder. After an embarrassing game of musical chairs our drinks came. Hubby had a beer and I, a Rum Punch. Usually this comes in a highball glass with a shot each of 2 different rums; but this came in a tall tea glass. It was weak and tasted watered down. (There was NOT 2 shots of Rum in it.) I thought maybe it sat for a while, but the second one came the same way. At $14 each - I stopped there. This was a Pre-fix dinner with a choice of (1 of 4) entrée and (1 of 2) dessert. Salad was the only choice as appetizer. The salad was a half head of little gem lettuce (not chopped), 2 wafers of spicy cucumber, 1 tiny piece of bacon (like 1" long by ¼" square - literally a sliver), and a sprinkle of breadcrumbs. We opted for no bleu cheese. The avocado dressing was creamy, delicious and served in a plastic to go cup. It was ok. When we ordered, we asked for dessert to be wrapped to-go because we anticipated being too full from the meal. Dinner arrived shortly after the salad was done. Both were cold. Husband ordered the Seared Flounder and I had the Blackened Chicken. He said his Flounder was cooked well and had good flavor; but the risotto was tasteless (I tasted his and agree), with a few slivers of mushroom and a lot of corn that didn't taste like it was roasted. He only ate the fish and mushrooms. There was no "bacon drizzle" flavor to be found. Don't ask what the dark things were in the dish... greens? Everyone was questioning it and leaving it. The Blackened Chicken had thick, white, rubbery skin and was dry - as if poached too long. No Blackened skin - No spice - no salt! I peeled it away because I was unable to cut through it. The farro was so bland and tasteless that after one bite I was done. Even salt and pepper couldn't save it. There was no black garlic flavor anywhere in this dish. The WHOLE greens were so undercooked that I had to spit them back out because they were too tough to break down! (Even hard to cut with a knife!) And no bacon flavor in them as well. The people on both sides of us ordered the same and it arrived the same as ours. One man commented that perhaps the executive chef was borrowed from a hospital. I have to say, sadly, I've had better food in a hospital. I saw many full plates going back after the meal. After the meal we didn't eat, we both had a cup of coffee. (A Mocha Cappuccino and a Vanilla Cappuccino.) Both were large and excellent. The only 2 desserts offered were very sweet ones. We ordered one of each to go. Our neighbors on both sides were not happy with them. The brownie looked like something you made at home with a dollop of whipped cream from a can and a hint of crumble on top. The Bread pudding looked odd and the caramel sauce tasted burnt. No bacon to be had. We threw them out. The show was excellent and the sound quality very good. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house because of the layout. If you get stuck behind a post, you are allowed to go up to the birds nest on the 3rd floor. We had premium seats, so this was not a cheap evening. I know we were there for the show; but if you are going to offer an executive chef meal with it - then do it right! I was very disappointed with the meal. I read all the reviews and no one said anything like this about the food. (I wish I had ordered the Chicken Fried Steak - It was the only one the ladies in the powder room didn't complain about!) I don't know if this was a new chef or what but someone there needs to oversee and TASTE what they are putting out! Oh, and if you are going to do a BACON theme in honor of the BACON Brothers... Put some dang BACON in there!!! Last but not least. It was a tad bit annoying that the staff kept standing in the way during the encore as they were scrambling to close out tickets. read more

This review comes from a slightly different perspective. We performed at the Dosey Doe last night for an audience of the kindest, most receptive, enjoyable crowd we've ever seen! The venue was absolutely incredible. Ray and Paul worked to make sure our lighting and sound were perfection. And we couldn't have asked for better management/handling/Momma Birding from Chelsa, who facilitated our visit and made sure we had absolutely everything we could need to make our performance top-shelf. Pardon my saying so, but we were STELLAR. And that is due in very large part to the staff at Dosey Doe. The food was outstanding, as well. I enjoyed the flounder with tomato risotto. Seasoned beautifully, the risotto was the star of the show. The flounder was flaky and tender, light and delicious. And hey! Don't miss the COFFEE! I'm a caffeine connoisseur and the fact that they bring their beans in from all over the world to roast right here at home? Absolutely crackin' cuppa! And I drink a LOTTA coffee! Wow, what super fun place! I didn't know this place existed until we decided to go to an ABBA tribute band show. Very interesting and unique history with this building! It was dismantled, moved, and reconstructed! I was shocked at how good the acoustics were! I thought it was an excellent venue. There are several types of seating. Long tables and smaller high top tables on the first floor, then there is an upstairs also. I wasn't able to check that out, but I would make it a point to see it if I go again. Most of the parking is in the back, and while it wasn't obvious at first, it was easy to find. It was maybe 50 yards to the door from where we parked. The waitstaff all were super happy to please. Those people work hard- They were busy making sure everything was taken care of! The food ranged average to excellent. We certainly cleaned our plates! I got the chicken fried steak and my wife got shrimp and grits. Not a giant portion for the shrimp (which we expected) and so we shared plates. The desserts were really good! I am not a chocolate fan, but I tried the brownie dessert and it was quite good! The coffee and drinks were great! There were a number of interesting coffees. The one I chose was fresh and delicious. It was pretty noisy with conversation, so this is not a place for a quiet meal, but rather for a fun time at a cool venue. I suspect it might be a little quieter upstairs. You get to select your seats when purchasing tickets. Well organized and run facility. One of a handful of excellent small music venues in the area. I like this event concept, we went to see Crystal Gayle and the space doesn't have a bad seat in the house. However the tables are crammed so close together and one person has to get up so the other person can maneuver to get out. Way to many people in there at once all squished up. My food was good, I had the shrimp and grits and it was tasty! The salad before the meal was bland with barely and dressing at all. Someone next to me had the gumbo and it looked very unappealing. One of the servers was trying to maneuver down the isle to bring everyone their water and spilled an entire ice water glass down my back I was soaking wet on one entire side down to my undies! This other guy came over and I asked for some real towels as the paper towels they gave were not working and were actually shredding all over my black outfit. The guy said "what happened" kind of accusatory to me! He looked up and said did someone spill from up there???!! I said no this guy behind you had an accident and spilled the ice water on me. He didn't say anything else just sauntered off, not even an apology! He came back about 30 min later and said oh i am sorry I misunderstood what happened! The poor server who did it was humiliated and I told him I understood it was an accident. I felt bad for him really. The server offered to buy me a glass of wine but I told him no. As he was doing the water as a favor to our server. No other offer was made for anything, not even a 10% discount on the bill which was shady if you ask me. As close together as we were all sitting it was very unsettling. I don't go back there until covid is gone, if ever. If you want to see your fav musician up close and personal, and the claustrophobic seating doesn't bother you then this place might be your jam, wasn't mine. read more

Did we get over charged?? We have to call. Rippingtons show on 6/22/19 was fabulous! We love this venue and they get some headliners! To see Russ Freeman in a small setting is priceless. Ok well maybe not because we aren't rich. So we pay a $50 deposit on each ticket - Tickets were $138 each and it includes dinner (dinner/concert tix). This is what I hate though. You have to eat there and then you never really know how much the concert alone was. Also their seating is . . . sit tightly together in these long tables! Again this is not my thing. But to see the Rippingtons we go anyway - every year. The Food is more on the comfort/southern style which tastes good if you are up for that (5 entrees only - nothing fancy). My husband orders vegetarian plate as he doesn't eat meat. They should give you money back for that entree. You'll see our receipt attached. $88 plus 1 glass of wine (not so big - order the bottle next time). Our bill from the waiter was $200. So how much do we tip (we don't know the price of the meal) . . . We give the guy $30 (way too much!!). Our grand total (plus the $50 deposit x2) comes to $330!!! This is so pricey for a venue with subpar food and to sit like a sardine! Sorry What I think each time I'm there - 'why can't they just sell seats at the tables on the upper level for just concert goers'? Make it a two drink minimum and offer appetizers to order - keep the food/drink tab separate than the concert ticket. For those that want the full meal they sit on the main floor. I would LOVE that. They actually may get sold out evening - get more people in the upper area. Then I'd give this place a 5 star!! read more

With it being so close to us we really want to enjoy this place. I think we've been to about 8 shows here. About the only positives are that the sound is pretty good and it's a nice intimate venue to see an artist you enjoy. Other than that the food is bland to bad and very over priced, the drinks are probably the most watered down cocktails I've ever had, the seating is very uncomfortable, the servers are stretched to thin such that it's pretty bad service, and management seems to to care one bit at all. read more

I love Dosey Doe last time I went saw a female comedian and she was fantastic, was a great night out . Problem is that it seems like all they ever have now are " wannabe country western singers ". We used to go here a lot in the past saw several different singers and the comedian but it's all just one type show now days.. Total lack of respect for customers. Although they email you tickets for a concert (Marshall Tucker Band- 4 premium tickets $800.00+) they don't email you when a concert is canceled. Don't do as we did- drive through rush hour for 1 1/2 hours only to arrive and read a note on the door. I only gave four stars because the waitress overcharged us on the bill. Check your bill for extra items not ordered. Extra drinks were charged. Asked for "house" vodka, charged for Tito's. Knowing they get paid to play is first on the list. As for service I can only blame myself for expecting anything but the the worst. I need to set any expectations at the VERY lowest level and be happily surprised if it comes anywhere close! I have spent my last dollar here on food and drinks.. Went to see The Marshall Tucker Band last night. Our table was upstairs behind the tables against the railing and we had absolutely NO view of the band whatsoever! Which was very disappointing. There were six of us and our bill was over $300 For that kind of money, we should have had a better view. Or just a view at all!! So disappointed!
