I ordered take out on a Thursday night. When I arrived there was a long line of people to pick up their food. Part of the order was ready and bixed up but sauces and rice were not packed until the customer arrived, which caused the line to move slow. In my humble opinion it has always been difficult to find good Chinese food in Louisville. You find one joint and then something happens, and it isn't good anymore over time. And you try others who are essentially fast-food options who make food to make money without quality that are typically found in strip malls with their apathetic staff and menu that looks way too large for them the excel at anything good. And you categorize them all as bad, whether you have been there or not. And that was true of Double Dragon until I actually went there, but shocked that the food rocked. My visit there was like 6 months ago and I didn't bother leaving a review until now simply because it was in a neighborhood I didn't plan to frequent (near UL). But when seeking another good Asian restaurant I remembered that experience, re-looked up the name and noticed it was Double Dragon II, leading me to believe there was a Double Dragon I somewhere (perhaps closer to where I live) and find it is just off Eastern parkway near the highlands. And after asking a few people who live in the highlands, they all know about it but didn't share the secret! Ordered 2 sesame chicken and 1 general chicken combos and it was pretty disappointing. I don't know if my general chicken had any chicken in it. It seemed like I was eating pancake balls swimming in honey. 2.5 out of 5, sorry double dragon but this was a big miss. Occasion: Doordash dinner with my bestie Here's what happened... Wanted to order doordash and get americanized chinese food. Friend is a big fan of Double Dragon but they are not on doordash. Neither of us wants to get off our @$$es and go to pick up food so we decide to try DD2, foolishly thinking it will be similar in quality/preparation. Wrong. Here's what we tried: Crab Rangoon - these were pretty close to what we expected Tofu pad thai - interesting chinese adaptation of a classic thai dish. I am not going to criticize the flavor or noodles for not being traditional, as this should not be expected of a chinese place. What I will critique though was the preparation of the tofu and it was sub-par. Big square hunks that were overly chewy. I like my tofu crispy or seared on the outside with a soft center - this was overcooked to the point of dryness but was missing flavor; I cant explain it any better. Vegetable roll was OK but really really oily Sweet & Sour Chicken was missing all of the veggies that come with if you order from the original DD. In conclusion, next time I will either get off my @$$ and pick up from the original DD or decide on a different type of food. We've had sweet and sour chicken, chicken egg rolls, crab ragoon, fried rice, beef lo mein, chicken pad Thai, orange chicken, lobster fried rice, sesame chicken, pho beef needle soup, and a few more things and it's all great! I've been here several times and never had a complaint about the food or service. The portion sizes are nice along with the prices. Customer service has always been top notch. I will continue to come here. I usually get egg drop soup and crab rangoons but lately have been venturing out of the box. However I do enjoy dragons so why not get them doubled in the Double Dragon is where you get that I still go with the general tso's chicken with the rice the thing I don't like about their eyes as they put onions in it I'm not a fan of onions I know a lot of people. I used to order the General Tso's online but for some reason General Tso chicken and a few others were moved off to their own mysterious category on the menu where what you're getting and the size is not listed or clear. You're able to choose between pint/quart sizes for most of the chicken based items but not General Tso's. The dumplings were starchy and otherwise flavorless despite some kind of meat being in them. Double Dragon is the closest fast food Chinese food to our house. It's not the best in town but it's close and good. I've never had a specific complaint. I'm getting over a stomach bug so pork fried rice sounded safe and so far it is. My boyfriend ordered his typical beef with broccoli. We have no idea what he actually got but he likes it so he's going for it. It's just too cold to complain and drive back up there for a replacement meal. Pity. read more

A wild dining experience. My husband and I went for dinner at about 6.30 on a Thursday evening. There were a couple of folks in line in front of us. There was a lot of loud Chinese/Vietnamese (don't mean to be politically incorrect in identifying the language but it was of Asian decent) conversation going on behind the counter that was very distracting between the employees. Several of the customers were loud and it was just annoying. But we ordered dinner for eat in. It took about 20 minutes with all the commotion going on the entire time. The girl brings our food to us in a to go bag. SO we have to unpack it and find plates, etc to eat in. By this time the loud talking had subsided so that made dinning more enjoyable. We both had soup that was not very hot and my wanton broth was just too greasy to eat. the Wantons in the broth were fine. Egg rolls were hot and good. But we split a sweet and sour pork and it was not very good at all. It was soggy and a bit greasy. The fried rice was good. So all in all it was just OK. It is located in a strip mal so plenty of parking and prices are reasonable. We have eaten there before and had a better dinning experience and will probably go back and give them another try. read more

This is some of the best Chinese food I've found in Louisville! We order this for work quite a bit as I work nearby. The egg rolls are amazing and the crab Rangoons have thick pieces of crab in them, not that liquid stuff you get at some places. Overall a great spot for traditional go-to Chinese food. read more

This is not a fancy place, nor does it pretend to be. In fact, it looks like almost every other quick service, take out Chinese food place found everywhere. However, the difference with this place is in the details: food prepared with care, great pricing, and friendly service if you take the time to notice. The food is the standard fare, but prepared well, with care and with quality ingredients, not the bargain crap that seems to get served at a lot of places. I especially enjoy the lo mein, it is prepared simply but is very flavorful. The service is good, and if you are friendly, they will go out of their way to make your experience even better. This is reviewing it for what it is... quick serve, strip mall Chinese food. But it is good for what it is. The spicy food is actually spicy, the meat is not overly fatty or gristly like at so many fast food Chinese joints, the fried food is crispy etc. While many people review Chinese takeout places harshly for being "cheap Americanized crap" or whatever, I gotta admit, I had plenty of cheap and kinda crappy food in China too. This food though is pretty good. It isn't fancy, but it is tasty and I've managed to feed two people dinner here with leftovers for under $12 read more
