We live in Prospect but have never ventured Northeast on US 42 but were lured up there for some automotive needs and discovered Dragon Cafe. They immediately became our favorite Chinese Restaurant with amazing rich, flavors and perfectly cooked food. This is a hidden gem. we now order from there at least twice a week. I drive from downtown Louisville just to eat here. This is hands down, no doubt, 100% the most consistent & most delicious to-go Chinese food. The chicken and vegetable lo mien are divine - get the Quart and have lunch tomorrow! Diet Chicken (D2) with no baby corn and no mushroom - also a classic. Mongolian Beef has such a yummy sauce!!!! We have been reliable customers for years. I am sad to say, the past two times have not been good. The Gen. Tsos chicken was gristly and only had two tiny broccoli florets. Food is good for a fast food Chinese's place. However, multiple times that I have ordered from there and picked up my order, I get home to find they've forgotten parts of my order. Once was my egg drop soup, the only thing I wanted. They have forgotten my egg rolls, gave me some weird soup that they said was egg drop soup, but it wasn't. And now today they forget the gravy sauce for my War Su Gai (with bought that, it's just chicken nuggets and white rice!). Every time I get comfortable and don't check my order first, I regret it. They act like it's no big deal when you call them back, and they say 'you want to just come and get it'. Well no, I would prefer not to go back out, waste more gas and time, and eat cold food now. Yet I have to go back or you wasted money on the missing food. They offered an egg roll for the trouble...I already have two with my order already. Dragon Cafe has raised it's prices but not on the menu. When I questioned the cost on my ticket I was shown a taped down piece of paper on the desk, 3.00 per entree increase. I had Moo goo gui pan. large size. 2 pieces of Zucchini, 4 snow peas and 4 pieces of chicken. It was loaded with old mushooms (20 plus) and no water chestnuts, no bamboo shoots at all. I literally drive from Middletown for this Chinese food. Not to be misleading, it's not like it's some sort of Michelin star restaurant. But it's the way Chinese food is supposed to be and its consistent. I thought it was one of the better places I've been to around here. I got the wonton soup which was good, the shrimp Lo Mein with crab Rangoon. All items were exactly what I expected them to be, so I was happy. There are a few booths so that was nice and a couple tables to sit and eat. I just ordered take out from Dragon Cafe. It was a HORRIBLE experience. The lady taking orders is in desperate need of Customer Service Skills Training. She needs to be moved to the kitchen , and not deal with customers Ever. She is not friendly and is rude. This will negatively impact business , if continues. She did not greet us, smile or thank us. I ordered a moo goo gai pan. She says I can't order that. I ask her why? She says because it was dinner. I did not ask for lunch price. I had one of the paper menus opened and in my hand at the time. I never expected or asked to pay the lunch price. She incorrectly assumed that is what I wanted. If she was concerned that I did not understand price, she could have handled situation better. When our old offices used to be near to this restaurant in Prospect, I probably showed up here once a week. Even after our offices had moved, I still came here from time to time because I think they produce great tasting food for a great price. In fact, this was the first place I went on my very first day of working at my company for lunch. We often dined in and had a good experience there. The cashier was very friendly and would often remember who I was, even though we didn't exchange many pleasantries. If I ordered to go, it also did not take very long to make a lot of food for me and they never got what I ordered wrong in the almost two years that I had spent going there. I would 100% recommend it. I wouldn't say that there were any particular dishes I'd recommend because everything I tried I thought was delicious. read more

I have been to this place a few times. Okay I lied I went to this place once or twice a week for several months strait. I am sad that I don't work down the road anymore and I could walk to this place. I only had lunch here but I was never disappointed in the food I got. I think I tried almost everything on the lunch menu and not a single item did I have a problem with or that I disliked. I would recommend anything on the menu considering I have had a lot of it and haven't been disappointed yet. Food is full of flavor and there is always a lot of it. The lunch portions are very good for the price. I also fell in love with the crab range. Most places put way to much cream cheese in them and it overpowers the flavor of the crab. NOT here. The filling was very well balanced and I could always taste the crab. The staff here is very friendly and the food is prepared in a timely manner. Everyone working always has a smile on their face and makes sure that you get what you want at that you are satisfied. I am going to miss this place. read more

It is fast and Yummy! Although the prices have gone up this year, they are still reasonable and of course it is convenient. This is still the best fast chinese food around! I love their Singapore Mae Fun and their pork spare ribs (not really ribs, just pieces of pork in a sweet/tangy sauce. The Singapore Mae Fun is spicy but you can ask them to dial if down a bit. I have told my family that I could eat this every day for weeks before I would get tired of it - it is that good to me! Had a delicious early lunch here! Got 4 crab rangoon, two egg rolls, chicken and shrimp lo mein all for $15 :) we got the small portions of the lo mein's and they were large size portions. Good flavor too. The Rangoon were very yummy as well. The egg rolls were so so, definitely needed the soy sauce I put on them. If I'm ever out this way again I'll for sure eat here. read more

First experience they gave me the wrong order. When I went back to get my correct order they just handed the food I brought back into the restaurant to the guy who actually placed that order. The food was good so I let it slide. Second experience the food wasn't as good as the first. Then my LAST order I was told I order the wrong dish, she assumed I wanted what they made. Decided to take my family here because we've lived nearby for about 6 months now. Upon entering the store and standing in line I observed a young man working there run the palm of his bare hand up the center of his face to wipe his nose. Can't say I've ever seen that before and was completely grossed out. Tried to tell my wife but it was our turn to order. I asked the same guy about an item on the big lit up menu on the wall behind him and he laughed and said it was about 8 yrs old and charged me a dollar more than what the sign behind him had for the price. False advertising. $50 later I get home to realize I didn't have all my food. Wasn't worth my time to call and complain but I felt obligated to warn people of this unsanitary and false advertising restaurant. Couldn't even eat thinking of snot face. Horrible! read more

Just tried Dragon Cafe for the first and last time tonight. I hate writing negative reviews! If you look at my other reviews, the majority are positive! But tonight the food and service was such poor quality, it warrants a review and warning. The lady who was taking the orders acted as if we were an inconvenience dining at the establishment. Heaven forbid she looked at us or expressed any common courtesy much less a hint of a smile. As for the food I will start with the mixed vegetables. They were not cooked, end of story. The baby corn cobs were still frozen on my plate. The broccoli tasted like it was cut right off the stall and placed on my Plate. Earth was present on the slices of celery, the stalks had not been rinsed. The mixed vegetable sauce was scarce and uninspired. The sesame chicken was a joke. I would have to describe the taste of the chicken as sketchy at best. The chicken tasted old was full of gristle. And how did they make it sesame chicken? Just sprinkled some untoasted sesame seeds right on top. Really??? Most places toast the seeds in the wok before topping the chicken. The best item of the evening was the crab Rangoon ... no crab in it, but the cream cheese mix was flavorful. Like I said, first and last time. read more

I asked the cashier if I could order off of the lunch menu and she laughed and said "no, by the time you're ready to order it won't be lunch anymore" I then ordered and paid before it turned 3 o'clock and she still charged me the dinner price. This place makes very good American Chinese food. The service is quick but good, and the food presentation is good even in the take out. Today while I was there, the Chinese woman taking orders spoke to the two farm hands behind me in Spanish. I'm not sure how many places in the world you get to see that!!
