Went here for dinner tonight, 5 people. The main dining room was so brightly lit it felt odd right away. The entrance is old and the place felt run down. We were seated in the main dining room next to a table that had just finished, they had small children. The floor around the kids had food all over it, no problem if the staff had cleaned up when they reset the table. They never did clean or sweep up the mess, just reset the table and left the dropping on the floor, gross. Our order came within minutes and left us less than satisfied. We did not take any leftovers home (which is a first, who doesn't like leftover Chinese food???). We will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone. This is definitely NOT the best Chinese food on the Cape as is claimed on the radio ads. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Went here with the family on vacation. Great staff and food. The food arrives quickly and tastes fresh. I went back with my wife and left the kids with their grandparents and had another good experience. We sat at the bar, got appetizers which were delicious and had drinks. The suffering bastard and scorpion bowl were strong and did the job! The bartender seemed cold and distant, very unfriendly woman and seems miserable. The rest of the staff was amazing! read more

I have to say that after my meal at the Double Dragon today I feel compelled to go online and give a review with a one star rating. Let me give you a short play-by-play on my lunch. Me and my dad decide to go in and give the place a shot because finding good Chinese food on the Cape is really a crap shoot. Anyway, we pull in for a late lunch about 3:15, the place is completely dead except for the tourists in the little nook of a bar wetting their whistle (who's irritating inebriated laughter is quite audible). Me and my dad are seated in a vacant dining room by a 6 foot tall Indian. I know India is in Asia but I wasn't expecting an Indian waiter at a Chinese restaurant. Besides being a little stymied by the choice of hired help, he was very attentive and there were no awkward waiter moments, at least until the end. Next comes the menu. I personally am a combination plate guy, and I know we were late for the lunch special, but there really isn't too many options when it comes to combos. And I don't know where some of the other reviews go for Chinese but the prices here are a little steep for Chinese food. So when it came to ordering my dad and I both were kind of pigeon holed into getting a "dinner for one" at 3:15. These "dinners for one" comprised of a soup, an appetizer, and an entree. Options here are also sparse, the soup is either egg drop or wonton, and the appetizer selection is the basic chicken finger, spareribs, egg roll, etc. The entree selection is just a meat (beef, chicken, pork) and "vegetables". We both ordered wonton soup and "beef with vegetables". My dad got a single egg roll and I had 2 chicken wings as my appetizer. This is where the real fun starts (not). I also have to add that our demeanor towards the meal was already beginning to head south, although the dining room was very clean with a nice view as long as you don't walk up to the window and see a dilapidated balcony that is hidden from sight at a seated position. The soup is served rather promptly and was quite hot and also had a nice presentation with garnishes, but the broth was very salty and there was barely a bite of meat in side the wantons. To put it simply it was pretty lame, but it is just wanton soup, although it did add to the declining atmosphere of the meal. The entree is where it really essentially hits rock-bottom. The "beef and vegetables" was a soupy mix of assorted Asian and domestic roughage completely covered in, and in a puddle of, MSG saturated Chinese "gravy". And one thing that both my dad and I found a little strange was the inclusion of a tomato in the "beef and veg" . The flavor with the gravy didn't work out, it didn't look right, and most of all I was left wondering what the hell they were thinking back in the kitchen. I know it 's small and if I don't like it don't eat, but really, a tomato? And I figured I'd try it since it was served to me. The beef had no flavor at all besides the overpowering, overly salty "gravy" and pretty chewy. To cut it a bit shorter, most of my veg was bamboo hearts which were pretty bitter And the other half of the meal, the fried rice, was very salty and after a good number of bites it seemed to taste weird and off, I've had a lot of fried rice and there was something amiss in the flavor, but it sneaks up on you and is off putting. Finally the coup de gras is what they call appetizers. My dad's egg roll was the size of a spring roll and way over fried. My two "chicken wings" were literally like cornish game hen wings. They were so tiny it was laughable at the first instance but was really lame, and I mean lame. They were some tiny wings. To sum it up, it looks nice but the food is simply crap. read more

Sometimes you just make the same mistakes over and over again. DD is not good. It's run down, the waitstaff is unfriendly and the food is awful. I should know, I've been going here for years. That being said, I will never go back. The last time I was there for take out, I made a plate at home, took a few bites of everything and dumped it in the trash. It was all the same. A refrigerator clean out of leftover meat and vegetables covered in a thick gelatinous brown gravy. Even the ribs were suspicious. I feel like I have to ratchet down my expectations when I'm this far from civilization but this is lower than I want to go. read more

I've been eating at Double Dragon since the early 80s. It used to be consistently mediocre/average, but they're open until 2am which is a great selling point. Unfortunately, we went there a couple of days ago, and the food was horrible. The chicken fingers were dry, the fried rice was terrible, and the beef terriyaki was so dry and tough that it was difficult to cut with a knife. I'll never go back. read more

If you're looking for Chinese cuisine (one can tire of seafood) while you're staying mid-Cape, then this is your best, perhaps only, option. Not saying it's fantastic mind you -- but it'll satisfy. The place does look a bit worn and nostalgic, but I wasn't there to eat the furniture. We only tried items off the Chinese portion of the menu this trip so I can't vouch for the rest of the expansive menu. Our meal (General Tso's, Moo Shu pork, Chinese veggies) was good. Had better but hey, every meal can't be a feast. Prices very reasonable...good service. read more

Did you ever walk in a resturant and regret it before you were seated? If not go here. The 70's decor doesn't remind you of a fun decade, just that tge place should have been updated at least twice. Who cares as long as the food is good , right? Well the dining room was empty so we couldn't ask anyone else. Here a neat little trick, start us with water and bowls of duck sauce. No fried noodles, must of forgot. So we request them and they are all broken and stale. Something tells me this the 1st table these noodles saw. Now I am a pretty typical Chinese food person and don't get too adventerous but I have been to enough good ones and bad ones to know this food was terrible. There was 7 of us at the table and no one liked there food. You think you would be safer with the popular items but they were terrible. So after the terrible meal the chck came and we were charged for the used fried noodles. We left feeling a little shanghaied. read more

want bugs with that? in three occasions we have had bugs in our food, mainly in noodle dishes.... gross right? the products seem out dated, not fresh, poorly seasons, poorly constructed, and the presentation is NASTY. the decor is old with plastic floating, anchored fish in the fish tank. the waiters seem high, disoriented, and tired. its open late so you get a lot of drunks in there from local bars (hey i have done it.... you dont taste the nasty when you have had a few points). Came here today with my family and were given a shrug when we asked how long the wait for a table would be. After 20 minutes we once again asked whether a table would be available and were given attitude and told to be patient (mind you we were the only people waiting to be served). Shortly after we were seated, but the waiter dumped some menus down and then disappeared. 10, 15, 20 minutes passed with no service. We attempted to politely catch the waiters eye and eventually began waving to get his attention but he made it clear we were being ignored - the whole experience was the wildest thing, we couldn't believe it was happening. You know those types of situations that are so frustrating you started laughing because of how ridiculous it is? It was like that. But eventually we were too fed up, hungry and flat out insulted by the whole debacle so we decided to take our business elsewhere. Just because Double Dragon has the monopoly in Orleans as the only Chinese place doesn't mean they can treat their customers like complete dirt. Would recommend instead going to the Thai place across the street, they're so friendly and the food is outstanding. read more

It's weird and funky, like stepping back in time, but the food is excellent and so is the staff.

The food was good and the view of the cove and the rising moon were very nice. Service was quick and friendly.

This was beyond terrible. Rude waiter. And I do mean rude! Every time I said thank you he just ignored me. No smiling, you could just tell he either hated us or he hated being there. There was one other couple when we walked in, which should've been our first red flag. I figured if it was any good maybe they should've been a little bit more busy than one other couple. The food was horrible! Dried out, over fried, and just over sugary! This was not authentic Chinese food by any sense of the imagination. It was glorified take out at best. I will never return to this restaurant, and I suggest if you have any other option that you avoid this place at all cost! It was beyond the worst restaurant I've been to and the most unfriendly. I knew I should've stuck with seafood, since I was in Cape Cod. A mistake that I will never make again. steer clear!!! And just in case anybody who works there, or the owner is reading this, you should seriously hire people that are friendly, and want to work there, or at least can fake that they do. read more

I'm not sure where these other reviews are coming form, because I've been eating at the Double Dragon for close to thirty years and the food has always been excellent. I live in Orleans so I can eat at the Double Dragon year round. The service is always friendly, the dishes are very reasonably priced and the restaurant is very clean. Exactly what I want to eat when I think of Chinese food. After 10 years of eating here, I've been spoiled. By far, this restaurant has my favorite Chinese food and I've been at least mildly disappointed by every other restaurant since. 10 years, on average once a week, and I never once had a bad meal. Whether take-away or eating in, the service has always been top-notch - fast and friendly. With a large party, there may be a bit of a wait for the food, but that is to be expected with 10-15 people. Even then, though, the slight wait is worth it. Portions seem slightly large for the price compared to similar restaurants. Atmosphere is above average, as well. Wait-staff is attentive and quick to respond. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Unfortunately, I have moved off-Cape, and I sorely miss the food here. Oh, by the way, the drinks are phenomenal and worth every penny. I recommend the Tai Chi chicken, pork fried rice, hot and sour soup, egg rolls (best ever), and a Suffering Bastard or a Zombie (as long as you have a designated driver!). read more

Chinese food and Cape Cod do not go hand-in-hand. The Double Dragon Inn is THE exception to the rule here, on the Cape. I lived on the Cape for about 28 years. Before that, New York, where I came to know what I believe to be good Chinese food. The Double Dragon Inn is hands down, by far, the very best Chinese restaurant on the Cape. I'd call them a traditional Cantonese restaurant. Their sauces are unique. Each dish is sauced differently, and all expertly prepared. Their hot and sour soup is by far the best on the Cape, and as good as I've had anywhere. Dishes like Som Hop Chicken, with fresh bok choy, black beans and a very savory sauce are exquisite. They make a Cantonese shrimp and lobster sauce exactly like the exceptional dish I had as a youth growing up in NY. Other Chinese restaurants on the Cape, for some reason, believe that sugar should be an integral part of most every dish. Not here. If you are from an area where you've come to expect good Chinese food, you won't be disappointed here. read more
