We were in the Cape Cod area back in the spring and decided to stop by Brax Landing Restaurant before the busy summer season kicked in. It was a nice time to visit, relaxed and not too crowded. We ordered a Caesar salad, steak tips, fried seafood platter (fresh cod, scallops, and clams with fries and coleslaw), clam chowder, and a kids' grilled cheese. Overall, the fried seafood platter was the standout and definitely the best way to sample a bit of everything. The fish, scallops, and clams were all fresh and nicely fried, and the portion was generous. The steak tips were also solid, tender and well-seasoned. The clam chowder was decent, though not especially memorable. The kids' grilled cheese was a bit overdone on the outside and came out slightly burnt, but otherwise was fine for a simple kid's meal. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere had that classic Cape Cod waterfront feel that makes it an easy, casual dining spot. We did notice quite a few tables ordering the lobster roll, which we'll probably try next time we visit since it seemed to be one of the more popular items. While we were vacationing down at the Cape we decided to stop by Brax Landing as it was recommended to us by our host. This is a solid option for seafood and American food in Harwich Port. My girlfriend's family all ordered a seafood dish (scallops, lobster roll, and seafood platter) but I opted for a hamburger as I am not a huge seafood fan (ironic in Cape Cod). I took a bite of some of the seafood dishes and objectively can say they were pretty good! I was a fan of my girlfriend's lobster roll. My burger was standard, but it also came with Canadian bacon which I have never seen before on a burger. It was a good addition. Fries were very good as well. Service was great. The service is friendly and the vibe is relaxing and chill. I had the mixed sampler starter, which includes oysters rockefeller, clams casino, and grilled shrimp. It was ok but not something I'd say you need to try. Next, I had the clam chowder and the fish tacos, both of them are worth recommending. The crowd in front of the place said, "This place must be good!" My boss, who lives nearby, said, "This place is good." So I had high expectations. I started with the Lobster bisque. Major letdown. very thin and not a single piece of actual lobster meat anywhere to be found. Campbell's makes better soup. My main course was the "Broiled Scallops", which, in the description says, "Baked scallops". Ok, minor faux pas. The scallops thesmselves were actually good, true sea scallops (a bit on the small side). The flavor was very good and I was content. The vegetables that came with it were steamed broccoli and cauliflower. They were cooked right, but didn't even have butter or ANY seasoning. I had to dip them in the broiled butter of the scallops to make them taste like something. The sweet potato fries were decent. Two glasses of house wine ($12ea) rounded out the meal and I ended up over $100! Service was good and friendly. I left full, but disappointed. We ate here on a whim. Futzing around Harwich Port we Googled what seafood was around - tried this place based on its locality. Plenty of parking. Really nice view, on the harbor, lots of boats and docks to see. Crowded place. Seemed as though they have two main rooms and a full bar. Big, clean, and a very nice staff. Typical New England nautical decor - nice and reminiscent of the 1970s. Started with the raw bar, which was very well done; testers and shrimp - ice cold, but not so big. Lobster bisque was serviceable, but not as good as the bisque from The Sagamore Inn. The lobster roll was just fine, but not as big, filling, or cold as those from Tony's Clam Shop (Quincy, Mass.). The experience was nothing bad or egregious, but nothing really stellar or standout. Seemed more like a townie joint, a little off of the beaten path. Kickin it with a solid 10 on the queer o meter scale, Brax lands me in a conundrum. Can I give 3.75 stars? No? Well then, the waitress tipped the scale to the 4 star slot. She was so nice, patient and accommodating. The atmosphere is busy. (This is based on inside seating fyi) inside is a cozy setting with a harbor view. The view isn't so great along the left side, where there's a parking lot but we weren't out for a romantic lunch. That said, this is a fine spot for lunch. At 1pm on a Thursday we waited about 15 min for a table and on our way out, it looked to be about 30 min wait at least. Food: Chicken fingers and fries were tasty. The fries were SO GOOD. Hot and fluffy inside. I wanted to eat them all before they got cold. Perfectly done. My wife got an adult beverage - same as usual pineapple and Bacardi (yuck) and said it was good n strong. The way she likes them and her date. ha ha ha Anyhoo... I got the lobster roll. I like warm ones usually but this one was served cold. I'm SO torn at the review. It was huge. No mistaking that. And the price reasonable, $30. It came on a sub roll lined with a little shredded lettuce and tossed in light mayo and dill. The lobster was all claws and knuckle. Finally that's fine with me. I don't mind that at all. However the meat was floppy? I can't think of a better word. Like maybe it was previously frozen? It didn't taste fresh steamed to me, which is why maybe they can provide a huge roll. Not sure. I personally would rather a hot dog roll with less meat and have it fresh shucked. Drove all the way out to the cape for a job interview, so I obviously wasn't going to leave without getting a taste of the local food scene. Of course, most restaurants were closed for the off-season, but not Brax Landing. A+ for that. I was craving seafood, and this place had mixed reviews, but I did not have too many other options. First off, ample parking. Awesome! Walked in, and was a little confused. It looked like there should've been a host stand, but there wasn't. Anyways, I took in the lovely decor. Brax Landing understood the assignment. It really took me back to the olden days of the cape, the rustic, wooden fishing accents were so great. And after walking down the hallway pictured, it opens up into a lovely restaurant with some big windows overlooking the water, which we were seated by. So lovely!! As for the meat and potatoes of my review, the waiter came over and asked my mom what she would like to drink. She replied water, he asked "with lemon?" "Sure!" She responded. He did not ask me what I wanted to drink, oddly enough, but I did want the same. He returned with two ice waters and no lemons. Oh well. My mom and I both ordered the clam chowder and the lobster roll. He didn't forget to ask me this time! I really liked the chowder, it was chock full of clams and there wasn't any bacon in it, and the potatoes were a good texture. It was very creamy. Not the best I've had, but it was good! Now, the lobster roll- I thought it was delicious! My mom didn't like how mayo-y it was, but I thought it was really good. It was served with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle, but I only got around to eating the fries which were also good. I enjoyed them a couple days later with some Cane's sauce, iykyk. My family ate here recently and enjoyed the food very much. The service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was rather rustic I would say. You can sit outside with a great view of the harbor or sit inside and have a nice view also. I had the Cape Cod Ruben which is similar to a Reuben sandwich except with fish. It was absolutely delicious. The fish was deep fried crisp and flaky and the french fries and the coleslaw were a fine compliment to this Sandwich. My wife had the shrimp and my son had the steak tips and both enjoyed them thoroughly. Brax's had an incredibly long wait for a Sunday night at 5pm. It was over 40 minutes. There is no room to comfortably wait for this long, especially because it was raining. We were fortunate to find a small nook in the back by the lotto. The restaurant was incredibly and uncomfortably hot. We were sweating while we were waiting and while we were eating. The food came out quickly and our server was quick. However, she was not sure when the fish and oysters had come in. She was also unsure of a few other questions we had about the food. She never offered to find out the answers and just stated that she didn't know. The lobster bisque was excellent. The clam chowder was missing flavor. The lobster roll was good and only $29.99. Their Cole slaw is subpar and watery. My father ordered medium wings and they were incredibly spicy. The oysters had great flavor but getting them off the shell was a messy task and there was no option for sauces. I honestly was a little disappointed with the food for all of the hype and the wait. The looming heat in the restaurant is what really bothered me the most. I guess I was more upset that the hostess offered us outside seating initially when it was about to downpour and told us that we would have no opportunity for seating inside if it did. We had a 3 year old with us and 70 year old parents. Zero thought on her end. I doubt we will return there. We are frequenters of Cape Cod and this is definitely a place I can pass on for dinner in the future and I'm disappointed by that. I really wanted to love it. read more

Brax landing set a record for us. We had dinner there on Monday and loved it so much that we returned for lunch on Wednesday. This seems to be the rock star of seafood spots on the Cape. It's right on the harbor, with an amazing view of the marina and boats going by. It really couldn't be better. When we went Sunday evening, it was packed. Three of us stopped in for lunch and were acknowledged immediately and were seated a short time later. Out server was very pleasant and helped with our selections. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder, salmon Caesar salad, fried fish sandwich with fries, and the swordfish sandwich with onion rings. The clam chowder came out pretty quickly and looked great. The salmon salad had a large filet of salmon grilled nicely very tender and well seasoned. The fish sandwich had a large piece of cod, topped with a slice of American cheese, served on a bulkie roll fried to a perfect golden brown. The fish was very flaky and fresh. Plenty of fries, again fried nice and crispy, came with the tree. The swordfish sandwich was nicely seasoned and grilled. Very flaky and the cucumber wasabi sauce that came with it was a nice touch. The sauce had a mild flavor with a little kick to it. This is where things fell off a little. The onion rings were not fried very long at all. They could have used a few more minutes in the fryer. I don't know if they were pushing the order out quickly or not but won't be ordering them again. Which is unfortunate as the slices were good sized and the onions themselves were tasty. All in all a good visit, taking out the onion rings. We'll definitely go back again to try other lunch or dinner items. Traces were found in the penultimate bite, then disappeared again for the close. Go for the view, be taken care of with good service for an eatery making money on the turnover margins during the high season, be underwhelmed by the food. Brax was awesome! We spent the entire day exploring Chatham and decided head up to Brax for an early dinner, per the recommendations of my in-laws. We walked in and were quickly seated, which apparently was a rarity, as it gets super busy. We sat down at a table close to the water and our waiter was quick to approach us. My husband and father in law ordered frozen espresso martinis and I decided to stick with the original. They came out and the boys were definitely heavier, but they enjoyed them on the hot day that it was. My espresso martini was okay, but not the best I had ever had. We quickly placed our order - my husband ordered the crab cake sandwich and I ordered the fish sandwich. I also wanted to test out a cup of clam chowder, which I was happy I did because after trying multiple clam chowders on the Cape - this was by far the best one. We did have a couple of ordering mishaps but our wait person was quick to remedy the situation. I highly recommend the prime rib as it was completely awesome and the serving was plentiful. Everything is great, except the food. I felt that the interior was enjoyable to have a meal in, and the service was attentive and friendly. Maybe too efficient in that my food was cleared was while I was quickly in the restroom. I had the lobster bisque, a stuffed quahog, and the fried seafood platter. I found none of them to be up to expectations. The bisque was too heavily weighted towards the alcohol, so much so that even two pats of butter couldn't bring it back into balance. The quahog stuffing was so full of other things that not only was there no clam flavor but it was a muddied jumble. The highlight of the meal came on the fried seafood platter. The fresh cod was so flaky and most, I can absolutely recommend anything with it. Otherwise, the breading on the fried seafood was pretty bland, but at least the seafood tasted like it was not bad nor a freezer special. I was told that the outside seating is a pleasant place to have a meal during the months that it's open, but that's not anything I can speak to. There was an extensive menu and other people seemed to enjoy their food, so maybe worth a try. read more
