After nearly 30 years, the heater/air conditioner finally died and needed to be replaced at our rental property. Since we live in another state, we wanted to hire a company with integrity- one we can trust, so we contacted Double R. Double R provided estimates with choices of heating/air conditioning units and duct replacements. After reviewing the options and making our selections, Double R went to work. Using a crane, since the unit is on the roof, they safely removed the old unit and replaced it with a new one. The unit was properly installed, tested and everything worked fine. All this was done within 2 business days after we submitted our request and there was no damage to the property or new unit. In their honesty, Double R inspected all the ducts and indicated to us that there was no need for the ducts to be replaced, saving us unnecessary costs in the thousands. Some companies could have taken advantage and charge for this unnecessary procedure, but not Double R. We now have a happy tenant who will keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer and we highly recommend using Double R for your heating and air conditioning needs. read more

Highly recommend Double R Heating. I was referred to them by a neighborhood group member that had only positive things to say. Within an hour of submitting an online inquiry, Ricky fixed my problem! He responded to my request and was able to help solve my problem over a video call. I appreciate that he explained thoroughly what I needed to do and why, as well exercise patience with me as I shuffled things around in my garage for the call. My heat went out in San Francisco peak winter, when the inside temperature of my home is 50 degrees without any heat. I wanted to move quickly to get my furnace replaced, and contacted my home warranty Old Republic for Double R to come out and provide a quote. Everything went great with them until I received the invoice. The duct work Double R quoted was going to be 4k plus an additional 2k to do asbestos abatement. Instead of bundling the asbestos abatement into the quote and hiring an external contractor like other HVAC companies would do, Double R required that I do that myself. When I reached out to a few other companies to get quotes, I realized that 6k total for the duct work and abatement was double the price of other companies that were able to do it for 3k. I reached out to Double R multiple times, told them that they could fulfill the furnace installation, but I would hire another company to do the duct work and abatement like they requested! However they dragged their feet for weeks, didn't return my texts, and made me wait around 3 weeks in the 50 degree cold only to cancel the job and said they were no longer interested in the work. I have a pet at home that needs heat in order to survive, and my pets health has been in jeopardy by their lack of communication, so overall I can't recommend their services. They should have had better communication with my home warranty company, and also should have followed up with me after the quote to see where I was at in the process. Overall a bad communication experience with Double R and I can't recommend them. read more

Bad service especially if doing Work connected with a home warranty. Do not hire. Check your NextDoor websites for reviews for this company. They should hire a separate electrician for electric work. They do not standby the work they do. They did some work and a year later want to charge $250 to come check out the faulty work they did! So frustrated with this company. read more

Highly recommend this company. I had an issue with the AC during the heat wave and Ricky and Robert came over and spent several hours getting to the root of the problem, which had several issues including leaks and the thermostat type and wiring. What a fantastic company and person Ricky is. I needed my hvac pipe cleaned out, has not been cleaned out in the last 22 years. So obviously a lot of you know what has collected over the years. We set up an appointment for today he arrived on time (which is a huge plus in my book) very nice, knowledgeable and just over all professional. Ricky is excellent! This was the third company contacted by my home warranty company-the first two were terrible, the second one didn't call me back x 2 weeks and missed two scheduled appts. Ricky was excellent, very friendly and professional. We were having problems with our AC not cooling for several months-during the last several heat waves and were anxious to find out problem. He quickly found the problem-broken pump and called our home warranty company to let us know it was not a covered part: went to 3 stores the same day to find a replacement but it was late on Friday so he had to return on Mon!- He didn't want to leave us hanging w/out cool air over hot weekend so instructed us what to do with broken pump by using only minimally). Ricky came on Friday and followed up first thing Mon Morning! Communicated very well with me and explained everything plus let us know the out of pocket costs up front. Even went the extra mile and inspected both outside and inside / made a few corrections for us and showed me how to monitor new pump. We are very pleased and I would highly recommend Double R! I was connected with Double R heating & air conditioning through my home warranty company due to issues with my furnace. They were quick to call and schedule an appointment with me. I received an 8 am - 12 pm window and called the morning of my appointment to get a better estimate of their showtime. The technician showed up on time, wore a face covering and shoe coverings, and was friendly and professional. My problem was not ultimately fixed due to the nature of the repairs needed. The technician had to check back with my warranty company for next steps. Although the furnace was not repaired, I still want to give them credit for their customer service and ultimate diagnosis of my furnace for the warranty company. read more

My experience with this company was the worst a technician came out today because our AC went out. He replaced the capacitor and left with out fully making sure the AC was working properly as soon as he left the AC shut off I had to call the office multiple times so the technician would ccome out again. When he came out he said the motor was out I was like then why did you leave the first time and say everything was fixed. Mind you it's 100 degrees outside and I have 2 kids this is not ok .so he has to order the part ,now I have to wait for who knows how long. No thanks I'm calling another company what a waist of time and money I'm hoping to hear from the owner or manager so this won't happen to someone else and to make this right very disappointed . read more

Would recommend...We have a 2 story house with 2 different AC units and noticed the upstairs AC was not kicking on. After confirming it wasn't a setting on our end we called Double R HVAC. Ricky, the tech that showed up, was very helpful and communicated next steps. He actually made us aware that we could work with our home warranty if we had one, which at the time we didn't know if we had one or not (we just purchased our home). After my home warranty company sent out the first company who had to come twice and we still continued to have the same problem, I was extremely frustrated. The first company told me my condenser needed cleaning and it wasn't covered. Thankfully they send out Double R Heating and Air Conditioning. Ricky immediately pinpointed the issue and the parts were ordered through the warranty company. Of course the warranty company lagged and then they ordered the wrong part. Months after dealing with the warranty company, Ricky came with the right part...only to discover that there was a crack in the furnace which was potentially a huge safety issue. Ricky immediately notified me and told my tenants that they needed to keep the heat off. He was diligent about communications with the warranty company and when he was en route to my tenants. Finally, we have both heating and air conditioning. I am grateful for everything that Ricky and his team did. This place is hard to work with . Very hard to get ahold of them and they don't communicate what they are doing. Oh, and the mailbox is full so you can't leave a voicemail. When you do get ahold of someone they seem nice but there's no substance behind what they are saying. Wasted several weeks waiting on them to come. I've known Ricky for a while now. He was able to do a quick repair on my heating vents a few years ago for an affordable price. I recommended him to my dad for a repair on his heating unit and we were sure that he would recommend to replace the whole unit since it was close to 10 years old but was able to do a repair for a few hundred bucks. Because he didn't try to cheat him, my dad had him install an ac unit and they took care of everything from the permits, installation, and cleaned up after themselves.
