Came here for breakfast which didn't start out great as the hostess didn't even welcome us or even say hi just said "it's two?"... fortunately our waitress was very friendly the whole time. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla which was decent however there not enough cheese. My boyfriend ordered the eggs and brisket and the brisket was literally disgusting, dry and inedible. He even choked on it at one point and had to chug water to get it down. It seemed like it was left over from the night before. I decided to try Double S again last night after two mediocre experiences. The waitress Ashley was very sweet and I asked if I could sit outside while I waited for my to go order. They have a very nice comfortable seating area on their back patio. I was hopeful. I ordered a full rack of ribs ($25) which came with 2 sides and cornbread. Passing through after a long days drive , this place is exactly what I needed. After a recommendation from the front desk receptionist at my motel this place is delish. Service is awesome. We went to dinner Friday night. My mom ordered 1/2 rack ribs with side of brisket. When the dinner came my mom could not cut the ribs with knife and asked for a better knife. My mom still could not cut & I tried and could not do it either. My mom called the waitress over and send the ribs back as they were inedible. The waitress came back & told us she could not take off our bill. We brought the ribs home & they were so overcooked they were like beef jerky. Used to love this place! I mean our go to place in the area! Recently it has gone down hill. Portions are way smaller and food quality is poor. Brisket was extremely overcooked and the pulled pork was mostly huge chunks of fat. The sides were ok. Cornbread good but not impressive. I ate here with my wife and three young daughters. We found the food to be excellent, and the service was very good as well. I enjoyed the brisket meal very much, with mac and onion rings on the side. The smoked chicken wings were also very tasty. They give you four varieties of house made sauce, and I found all to be very good. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals as well. The kids meals came with plenty of food, and we brought some home. Dont skip desert, we shared the giant cinnamon roll and the fried dough fries, both came to the table warm and were delicious. We went on a Wednesday is 5@ wing night. Got the garlic butter ones. They were good. Ordered 2 early bird dinners which were beef brisket with a side salad and dessert. It was pretty decent. Really liked the popcorn before dinner. The corn bread was really good. And there selection of BBQ sauce was good. We went here for Breakfast. My wife is gluten free and loved the pancakes with optional real maple syrup. We both had omelette with grilled eggplant, mushrooms and Gouda cheese. It also came with sliced hash browns. Both were excellent. Service was outstanding with plenty of coffee refills. This will definitely be our new breakfast place in Warwick. I have lived in Warwick for quite a few years. This establishment just opened not long ago, but I always drove by it because I have my favorite places I go. This time I stopped, and I am glad I did. The smoked chicken was off the charts. Perfect balance of smokiness and as tender as it could get. The Mac and cheese is ridiculously entertaining and awesome, as well as the collard greens and bacon. Then for desert they have these apple pie egg rolls which you can dip into fresh whipped cream. The menu is limitless with so many things to try. Next time I am in I am going to get the ribs. Also tasted the brisket. Fuggetaboutit. Sensational. Good southern barbecue comes to Warwick. In a restaurant that has a $99 menu item called the Garbage Can, an $80 item called The Lid and a $55 Ultimate Hog. They could have told the truth that it fell on the floor and they missed us. But you would have thought that they would have noticed us there waiting... as they refilled our waters. People came in after us, ate, and left before we even got served. THEN, to add injury to insult, they add a MANDATORY %17.5 gratuity! WHAT! When the waitress was so gruff that one of our friends was thinking about slapping her! I do NOT recommend this place. I will say, the food was pretty good, but I can get just as good at Friday's for less $ and 1/4 the wait time. My advice, if you go, bring a lot of cash, expect to be treated gruffly, don't worry about the tip, they are gonna take it no matter how bad the service (And NOT do anything about it)... Went in with a friend... looked at the menu and ordered two sliced steaks...Medium rare $16....what we received were two skirt steaks and without knowing the difference.... ate them... I am positive we told her sliced steaks.... $22 for skirt steak the was well done and barely chewable...I told the server we ordered sliced steak but she said "that's a sandwich"...... big difference in sliced steak and skirt steak..... added $12 to our lunch tab. This place I'm rating very poorly because my chicken was raw. They say it's smoked and it's supposed to be pink but it shouldn't be raw. I've tried all 3 locations this guy owns, the original diner used to be good, but now it's horrible and a gamble if you get sick or not which is pathetic. The other smokehouse location never even got a second visit out of me it was so poor. We figured maybe 3rd time is the charm, maybe a different chef, you don't know til you try. Unfortunately, it lived right up to the predecessors reputation, gross. Started off with the soft pretzel. The pretzel itself was ok, but the dipping cheese sauce it came with was flavorless, the only taste you did get was just some funky cheddar, really wasn't appealing at all. My best guess it's Velveeta mixed with some cheddar, real 5 star chef action goin on here. Other half ordered the Southern Reuben, I went for the Texan burger which is a burger with some brisket on top. We both got sides of mac and cheese. Turns out the Reuben is an open faced sandwich , we didn't see any mention of that on the menu. It was a thinly sliced piece of rye with a pathetic amount of pulled pork, mostly made up of coleslaw, basically the cheap stuff, which in turn made the bread just a soggy mess. $13 Texan burger was mediocre, asked for medium, got rare. Topped with a small amount of brisket, which was tender, but had such a overbearing smoke flavor that killed it, same could be said for the small taste of pulled pork I stole off my other half's plate. $17, yeah, your read that right, $17. That's more than I paid for a similar burger at another smokehouse, in Times Square, which is a tourist trap. That burger was amazing I might add, unlike from here. Mac and cheese was just absolutely disgusting, mac was barely cooked, I'm surprised it wasn't crunching while I was chewing it and it was just drowned in the same horrible cheese sauce the pretzel. My dog would think twice about eating it, and the second thought would be a no. If it wasn't 2 o'clock and our first meal of the day we probably would have barely touched our food, based on other reviews getting our money back wasn't going to happen anyway so we just bit the bullet. Total waste of time. MASSIVE RIPOFF, 1 app 2 cokes and 2 sandwiches, 50 bucks without tip, and nothing was above mediocre, most was just crap. I'm done at this point, never getting another dollar from us, whether it's here or the diner. We work too hard for our money to get ripped off by someone more worried about being greedy and could care less about quality or customer service. Want a good burger? To open a new restaurant and have service issues is to be expected. Customers expect some mistakes and anticipate a longer wait time. But in the case of Double S, the problem goes beyond the "normal" service glitches and food mix-ups. When you come to a town like Warwick with so many friendly restaurants like Wolfies, Opa, and TNT, you can't expect to win people over by arguing with customers, yelling at workers and serving poor quality food along with the mean demeanor. Which is quite funny because They don't even have a barbecue sauce you can add to it. Then my sandwich came out the bread was so hard not sure if it was old or over toasted but couldn't even break it with my fingers. Nice people but mediocre experience at best. Waitress didn't know what kind of beer was on the menu. If a beer is on your menu with a funny nickname you should at least know if it's an IPA, stout, lager, etc... Food took 1 hour to come out with what looked like an average sized crowd. This is a small town and if you don't change it up then you won't have any repeat customers. The food is CRAZY expensive, and definitely not worth the money. I had a hamburger that was extremely over done and my husband's brisket was dry and had no taste. The outdoor seating was very pleasant with a pretty view. However, the food was underwhelming & disappointing. I ordered a Santa Fe Salad with smoked brisket ($20). The portion of brisket was generous, however very salty and dry. The other ingredients were sub par - beans and corn (likely from a can or frozen) and a heaping load of shredded cheddar cheese. I removed the majority of the cheese, which was the size of a baseball. Judging by the sheer amount & the flavor, I suspect it was inexpensive and low quality.
