Great place! We came during the lunch rush on a Sunday afternoon and it was PACKED. The hostess did an amazing job with quickly seating us (and other parties) quickly. Our server, Bonnie, was so sweet and attentive. She gave excellent recommendations and was very knowledgeable on menu items. It was good, I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger & had the garlic mashed potatoes on the side. The restaurant is on the expensive side for the food they served. I really liked the garlic mashed. I wanted to get the Mac & cheese burger but the waitress informed me that it wasn't a good day to have it. She said it's been sitting out since yesterday & it was hard. I'm happy the waitress told me but why would they have leftovers for the Mac and cheese burger??? My boyfriend had the buffalo Chicken grilled cheese which was really good. Well I have eatin at Double S more then enough times and given them a lot of chances to be good and it just isn't. I am from the south and bbq south is smoked right and sauces are thick and flavorful. Bbq is just as much about the sauce as it is about the smoke. The food is bland or not cooked right. The sauces are so thin its like water and the flavors aren't good. It runs right off the meat. The onion rings were squishy and batter was terrible! The pulled chicken has no seasonings or anything. The prices are extremely high for what is offered. They charge $5 for a glass of lemonade! The 1st time my husband and I dined in it was $80 for 2 ppl!! We won't be back. (I requested a side or horseradish sauce to compliment them, and it was "on point," as the kids say. Speaking of sauce, each table in the restaurant is equipped with a local brand of hot sauce (Moes, I think) made in Hewitt NJ -a 15 min drive away. Additionally, there are four house-made sauces. Flavor wise, my favorite is the Carolina. Texture wise, I liked the tomato sauce. I found The other ones to be too thin and runny For my tastes. Here's the thing; the service was painfully slow. We waited 15 minutes for the bartender to bring us a second round of drinks, even though there was no other visible activity he was involved in. The kitchen or servers failed to include Ingredients we requested be added, and the filet mignon I had was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor, And was full of chewy tendons. I would not return here. I've been waiting for a good, dedicated BBQ joint to set up shop since Chumleys closed down, so far I'm happy with this place. Stopped in for lunch today with a friend, was pleasantly surprised by the environment and portions. For starters - the drinks came in 24 ounce mason jars. Super size not necessary, but welcome. The fried pickles had a bit too much breading and were a little soggy, but the smoked pulled pork egg rolls were fantastic especially when paired with the Carolina BBQ sauce at the table. I had the "Smokehouse Burger" which in itself was OK but the stars of the show were the toppings, smoked pulled pork, brisket, and sausage along with coleslaw, all were very flavorful and the pulled pork had just the right amount of smoke. The side of Mac & Cheese was alright, on par with Stouffers if you've ever had that. Service was fast and attentive with a good sense of humor, and the orders were filled quickly. I'm sure they've got some kinks to work out being new, but I'll gladly go back to further explore the menu. Dreadful. The owners clearly spent more time and money on BBQ "decor" than they did researching and testing quality recipes. No imagination, no heart, no flavor. Wings tasted like they were brined in sawdust. Overly sweetened sauces with no punch or pizzazz. Fried Green Tomatoes featured pickled fruit, not fresh. COMPLETELY tasteless dips. Brisket that barely qualifies as meat, let alone BBQ; from a lack of a savory dry rub to an excessive amount of fat, it was just a giant wobbly slab of gristle on a piece of Wonder bread. Watery pulled chicken that had clearly been reheated. I'm sure it sucked when it was originally cooked as well. The positive red neck reviews notwithstanding, this place was an utter let down. Additionally, we ordered the queen cut prime rib. The prime rib had to be sent back because it was over cooked. First let me start this off by saying, I DRAGGED my husband here after moving back to the area because of how GOOD this place USED to be. Upon arriving at 3pm there were only 2 other tables. I said to myself, "it's the 4th of July, most people are at actually BBQ's." Boy was I wrong. I said to the waitress "Any idea how much longer on the drinks?" It had been 40 minutes since they were ordered.. she informed me the bar tender was new and in training. 20 minutes later the two drinks (a martini and a mojito) come out. The martini was miniature and for $15 insane. The mojito had no mint, and what tasted like was just straight up seltzer water with lime. There was no senior bartender training this poor girl who was absolutely distraught. I end up sending the mojito back and just asking for a sprite for my husband instead. The sprite never came out and I had to ask the waitress again. I will say the Hushpuppies were great. The fried pickles were literally falling apart and burnt. Our meals arrived after another 30 minutes. My husbands brisket French dip was cold. The Au Jus was thick and cold and tasted SOAPY. My fried chicken sandwich was so tough that after two bites I said I can't do this. It was hard to even cut through the chicken with a knife. The kids meal chicken tenders was a bunch of fries and TWO mini chicken tenders. For $9. I was astonished. When I discussed my sandwich with the waitress she said "if I can would you like me to remove it from the check I have to call the owner though" I was amazed at this. I kindly said yes I'd like this removed from the check and I'd like the check at this point we are ready to go home. I am fighting everything in me not to lose my cool at this point because an additional 20 minutes go by before I even see the waitress who I assume is attempting to contact the owner to see if they can remove this rock hard chicken sandwich off my bill. Still ended up paying $100 for two sprites one cocktail a kids meal one sandwich and two apps. I am blown away. To anyone considering this place for a nice dinner, consider it twice. I've had both breakfast and dinner at the Double S Smokehouse, and both times I've thoroughly enjoyed the meals. More recently I went here for breakfast and had the summer Benny, it's their eggs benedict with avocado, tomato, goat cheese, and arugula. It tasted incredible. Their breakfast menu is large and offers up options for every craving. They also have a drink menu with plenty of brunch styled alcoholic drinks to chose from. Will definitely be back to this place. The food here is below average. I tired multiple dishes because I was out of town and needed dinner and leftovers that were gluten free safe. The people on phone ensured me that they were gluten free educated for celiacs standard, which is the only "gluten free" standard. Food just didn't taste right. Perhaps low quality meat. The meats were gummy, gritty, potato salads were off, overcooked perhaps. However, Bartender who waited on me since I was first in restaurant, didn't speak much yet took my order. My food was brought cold yet I was first one there, bizarre. He is a disservice to diners since he has no commentary, warmth or customer service whatsoever. The other staff were helpful but the vibe of this place is very odd. Unsure why. Leftovers came with no sauce, so how do I eat the dry meat? LoL. Find another place. I was looking across places to eat in Warwick for dinner after a day of picking apples at a near by farm and this restaurant came up and I usually don't like going to BBQ restaurants because I don't eat meat but I decided to look at the menu anyway because I wanted to find a place that was good for the whole group I was with. I was so happy to see that they not only had vegetarian options but they had little green checks next to all of the vegetarian options on the menu and I actually had a fare amount of options to choose from. We came in for dinner and we were seated within ten minutes and when you sit down they give you pop corn as a little snack before your meal. As a hard working man running a business I never want to bash any establishment however this needs to be said to make this place better. My brother in law picked up a large order of wings and fried pickles last. Close to 100$ for a to go order. Needless to say the wings were disgusting and some were pink in the middle, dried out, the fried pickles even though won't travel well which I get were horrendous. Also if your paying over 100$ don't you think maybe some carrots or celery would be included. Not just a huge tub of blue cheese. I'm more then disappointed in this place and it's not even my $. My wife and I tried this place this past Saturday. We mostly go to another BBQ joint on New Windsor/Cornwall border, but I will not name it because I do not want to be blamed for trying to shill for another restaurant, but we wanted to try another local place. We ordered a half order of the pulled pork nachos and two ciders two start. The pork in the nachos tasted "off" to me almost sour. There was not much cheese, and what was there seemed heated in the microwave and too much sour cream. Cold in middle and on bottom. My wife ordered the turkey BLT with fries and said it was ok, but really not much to mess up there. I was concerned about the pork, but still ordered the smokehouse sample which had pulled pork, brisket and ribs with garlic mashed and baked beans. Garlic mash was ok, but the beans tasted like any brand of canned pork and beans not like a homemade baked bean. The pork again tasted off and no smoke and a large glob of fat that i had to put to the corner, so i tried the Carolina sauce on it. Only vinegar taste. Then like many of the other reviewers, I have read after the fact, it spiraled downhill when I tried the brisket. Tough fatty gray meat like it may have been sitting too long, no smoke ring or smoke taste, way way too much pepper, no fat rendered out. It was the worst piece of meat I ate in my life. I tried a couple of more pieces, but I had to leave it. The ribs were too fatty, and fell off the bone like they might have been boiled and over cooked, no smoke flavor, no pull (BBQers know what I mean) and I tried a second sauce which did not taste much different then the Carolina, too much vinegar. I am being honest and I know I was stupid at the fact that I ate as much as I did because the plate was 35.00 and I should have complained, but I just wanted to get the bill and go because I was so angry and I did not want to start with wait staff that have nothing to do with how the food is prepared. I should have read the reviews before I went and I hope they make some changes. Our total bill was $99 dollars for two ciders, half order app, one soda, one sandwich and a dinner plate. read more

Great placed to come with the family. There is an outdoor patio space for nice weather days. They have the best fried pickles. The Mac and cheese is also really good.
