I would first like to say that Doubletree hotels have become one of our best hotel experiences while traveling throughout the years. This hotel was buzzing with activity when we arrived. People were in the lobby with bathing suits on and the banquet area(close to our room) had two large events going on. One was a girls gymnastics banquet with the girls running and playing in the common area. The surprising thing was that when we closed the door to our room, we couldn't hear any of the noise coming from the banquets, very nice. Our room was clean and we had a mostly"restful night's sleep until there was a very loud, aggressive, series of knocks on our door at 8:15 in the morning. I was sleeping as check out wasn't until 10am. After being woken up, a second very loud series of knocks a few seconds later, caused me to get up and investigate the noise. By the time I got to the door, a third series of again very loud banging knocks were coming from our door and as I got to the door, I could hear the mechanics of the door and someone was entering our room. I physically pushed the door closed and yelled"what are you doing?!" We got dressed and went to the front desk to let them know what had just occurred. The woman at the front desk casually said"oh that must have been house keeping". I explained that as guests, this was not OK and if he had walked into the room I would've been standing there without any clothes on. It all seemed matter if fact to the front desk staff. Check In at this hotel is 4pm. That should give the house keeping team ample time for cleaning and preparations for the next guests to arrive. If it weren't for this experience, I would've given this hotel a higher ranking. Unfortunately, it gets a very generous 3. After all, most guests come for a good night's sleep read more

I stayed here this past week for a conference hosted by my company, and I was blown away by the excellent service. Jasmine and the rest of the front desk team were so lovely and kind to our staff. A special shoutout to the food and beverage team for providing such a wonderful and delicious spread. The rooms were spacious and clean, and that cookie was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and I believe the rest of the team did too. We will definitely be back! read more

I stay here frequently. This hotel is consistent. It is close to many food locations and a Starbucks. It has a bar inside. It has a usable fitness room. It has ample parking. It has usually good rates. Staff is courteous. It offers a paid breakfast. What I don't like as a frequent traveler is the room. It has very inadequate lighting. I cannot see to put on makeup. It makes me think the low lighting hides something which is not true it is just the impression it gives. Also, the hotel is a bit loud. If you play Pokemon Go- this is a good place to stay. I've stayed at this hotel for an annual conference for the past few years with nothing but a great experience until this year. Upon checking in and inspecting my room to ensure housekeeping cleaned it to my expectations, I found urine and a large blood stain on my mattress. This is unacceptable and a bio-hazard. Housekeeping should have had the mattress replaced but instead ignored the issue and made the bed. They did find me a new room but no other compensation for the issue. I arrived for a conference that I booked months ago, they told they are having some issue with some rooms and that I now have a reservation 6 mile down the road. I asked why I wasn't notified in advance they shrugged their shoulders. I then ask how I was chosen to relocate verse anyone else and he said it was based on when you arrived, while I was standing there a women arrives after met checks in and get a room so that was a lie. The manager admitted they over booked and asked if I wanted a cookie would that make feel better. Susan was completely rude when I asked the location of the other hotel just that it was 6 miles down no address, I said 6 mile north or south they just pointed. They were the rudest people I have ever encountered at a hotel. I don't know how you can be so rude to someone who has a confirmation number and reservation. No one apologized and the other hotel was more like a motel. One star is too much for how I was treated. read more

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the whole place was spotless seriously, it smelled amazing every time I walked in. My room had two queen beds, which were comfy enough, but honestly, the pillows were the real MVP! So fluffy and supportive, I practically melted into them. Highly recommend! read more

Decent hotel with comfortable beds and free drink coupons for Hilton rewards members. There's a little bar in the lobby and a breakfast area that is actually pretty nice for a hotel in a rural area. Great stay this past week for a work trip. Check in was quick and easy. The whole hotel and rooms seem to be redone in the last couple years. Room was fresh, clean, big flat screen TV, and a fantastic walk in shower. Breakfast is great with a selection of pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, coffee, juice, and cereals. Several issues ...1). No supervision at indoor pool. My 5 year-old daughter as unable to use the pool because there were several rowdy kids without parent and no supervision. 2). A room for 3 people was stocked with only a half a roll of toilet paper and one bath towel. 3). Dishes sitting on floor of hallway outside of another guest room for several hours. 4). The interior of the main elevator door looked like it was from a public DMV office rather than a nice hotel. 5). Several areas near the main entrances and the elevator stunk of marijuana smoke. Minor item was that parking was at a premium & wound up in their convention center's lot behind the hotel. That presented a legit concern about both my personal & my vehicle's safety after dark back there. Was in Bloomington for a work conference. This is a decent location if you're in the area. The front desk staff is great and friendly, especially David. My reason for 3 stars is housekeeping. I'm pretty sure my sheets had not been washed as they smelled used. The shower in the room appeared to be be dirty and not have been thoroughly washed. My other issue is the housekeeping came through the hall at 8am and began locking loudly on doors yelling "housekeeping". I was a late check out and had the do not disturb sign on my door and several times the housekeeper knocked and had to be told I was still in room. Aside from that this is a nice hotel, with good amenities, but I feel Doubletree could do better. read more

I have stayed here every time I'm in this area. This place was the place to stay! They had a killer breakfast, there was a bar next door (Fridays), and the rooms are nice. The rooms are still nice. I understand businesses change due to the market so I won't blame them. It just seems like quality dropped. I stopped at their in-house bar "The Brickyard" and it was hot. The bartender said it was the coolers. They were putting off a lot of heat. She served me my beer and asked if I would like to order food. She was eating a plate of something. I asked her if the food was good. She stopped eating and said "we'll....." I didn't order. I asked why they no longer served breakfast and she said "they do, but you have to pay for it now". That's not what the front desk said. . Well anyway, there is a Panera in front but don't use the drive through in the morning, they won't come to the window. They open at 7, I drove through at 715. The hotel options around here have mixed reviews. I chose doubletree for my first stay and it has been very pleasant. The have breakfast and dinner room service available. There is a full bar in the lobby if you want to grab a drink. The rooms are quiet and reasonably updated considering it isn't really a destination city. Ample parking and a couple of food options right nearby. All of the staff was very pleasant and very accommodating of any requests I had. Two minor misses were my digital key did not work upon check in and they don't have guest laundry. I would definitely stay here again for the wonderful staff. read more

I am a travel planner for a living and I do not recommend booking here. Front desk woman was rude and unapologetic. This hotel gave away our early check in room that we confirmed 3 times over the weeks leading up to the reservation. We received a text that our room was ready, we went to the counter and they said it would be an hour longer. We are going to miss a family wedding now because of their irresponsibility with reservations. Do not book here for events! Also they closed the hot tub so that blows. Seems like it may only be open when they feel like monitoring it. Sub par service, sup par hotel. Thumbs down. read more

Couldn't enjoy breakfast how I wanted to them here's the best of it all They charged me on my account today for $250 for the stay that was approved and charged when I entered the hotel like y'all double charging me and now I have to wait 5 business for a one night stay when y'all literally approved my credit card for its full amount . Y'all are wrong for what y'all did to me cause as far as I know I was the only African American to stay there that night and now that I'm being double charged please prove to me y'all did this to other people I NEVER SMOKED IN THERE I DIDNT DO anything in that room or hotel besides sleep and cried cause of a funeral I went to the day before . I had not stayed at the hotel in a couple of years, and the updates were a great improvement. Hotel staff reached during the stay to see if they could do anything to make my stay better. Horrible experience, I picked this hotel because of the cookie and the fact they have an airport shuttle. While waiting at the Bloomington airport for my luggage the shuttle just leaves. After I got my bag and saw the shuttle gone I called the Hotel and told them I needed a shuttle from the Airport. The front desk girl says we only shuttle those with a reservation, to which I say I have a reservation. She then says well that was the last shuttle and we are not coming back. As I began to protest she hung up. 8 unanswered calls later I'm stranded trying to figure out what to do and the Doubletree shuttle flashes by the Airport without stopping. I get a co worker staying at another hotel to allow me to ride with her paying cash, only to arrive at an empty hotel. For 3o minutes I had the run of the hotel NO ONE there. I finally started calling to numbers on the front desk phone asking anyone who would answer to check me in. One GM hung up on me. The front desk lady finally shows up, no apology, no explanation, just a check in with no cookie. Someone the next day calls with an apology. Everyone at every level handled this poorly. I travel for business two sometime 3 time each week, so I sleep in hotels a lot. My reservation is always made through the same corporate travel website; in the corporate travel website my profile states that I am allergic to feathers and requests a room be set at turn with no feather bedding. Most of the time hotels see the note in the file and I get a feather free room. This property did see the note, but as the note was not in the section of the reservation where they expect to see it they did not honor the request; I know this because that is what Josh at the front desk told me. Josh then walked away from the front desk and left me standing there. After Josh walked away the clerk I was talking to when Josh interjected with his comments told me there is no manager on duty but she would call her boss and ask him what to do. Taylor (the guest services manager) told the clerk I was talking to he had no solution, and I told the clerk she needed to void the transaction as I can not sleep in a bed that has had feathers in it without ending up in a hospital. At this point Josh returned with a top sheet, a bottom sheet, a pillow and a blanket, maybe he thought I was going to strip and remake the bed, or maybe he though I should sleep on the floor. I booked a room at a different hotel and left. The last time a hotel missed my feather free request was also in Bloomington, although Bloomington, IN. The hotels general manager apologized for the oversite, took a vacuum and new bedding up to my room striped the bed, vacuumed the bed and then remade the bed so I would sleep in comfort. Clearly the manager of the Bloomington, IN Marriot hotel understood that he is in the hospitality business. read more

We had 30 people attend the Mother's Day buffet at this motel. It was fantastic in all areas! The service was terrific. There was a wide variety of food and all of it was very good! Would heartily recommend this buffet. We were told they have this buffet on Easter and Mother's Day every year. Great place! read more

I had this reservation set up by my company. Otherwise I probably would have picked a different hotel because when it comes to hotels, my needs are very basic. I'm not saying that the Double Tree is bad though. The bed was comfortable, a lot of pillows. I could turn the heat up to 90 degrees and it would stay nice and toasty. There is a huge TV and a moderate amount of space to store your things. The breakfast is nice and filling. They have a workout room (kind of small, but it doesn't the trick). I wish the hot tub/jacuzzi was working but it was DOA. They have small refrigerators in the rooms as well as a two cup personal coffeemaker. They also have a full ironing board with iron. They have a shuttle in the afternoon that will take you just about anywhere you want to go. And you can always take a cab elsewhere. I few things I did not like are: Everyone knows about the rules of using towels. If you're done with it, you put it on the floor. If you're reusing it you hang it on the rack. They have signs/pamphlets indicating that they conserve water and follow the rule, but everyday I would hang my towel on the rack and everyday there were new towels (unless they just pick up the used ones and refold them...*shrugs*) Anyway, 2. I like hot water, but if you turn the sink faucet all the way to the hot, it is major scalding hot. So you spend like 5 minutes trying to gauge if you've got the right temperature and end up burning yourself anyway. 3. The wifi...or lack there of. It may be a flaw in design or maybe just so many people trying to connect, but at most I would only get 2 bands of Wifi on the 1st floor. It would consistently kick me off and I ended up getting faster speed with my 3G on my cell. 4.They have coffeemakers in the room w/coffee & tea, but no sugar. 5. It was hard to get in my room because you have to leave the key in the slot a little longer than normal to allow the door to open. So when you're tired at the end of the day, who the eff wants to take 15-20 tries to get into their room? The staff said they'd send someone to check it out, but who knows. I left and went to Panera Bread. I won't really touch on the service since I spent all of 2 minutes checking in and checking out. I'll probably be back to Bloomington so hopefully I can update this to 4 or 5 stars next time. read more

Illinois good safety symposium conference is here today and I have to say I am quite pleased at the conference location and space. It's a really nice hotel and the ample parking provided. THis is something I can really appreciate as some Hotels have parking but only enough for 100 cars, this particular hotel has parking in front on the side and in the back, also another entrance. I can appreciate a Hotel that has history and I love it when staff know about the history. The rooms are nice and have everything you need, I was lucky enough to ask for the highest floor possible and they accommodated. My room had microwave, fridge, desk and all the things I needed for a pleasant stay. I am very thankful for that. It was nice to always have toiletries when I needed them, and of course the maid who took care of the room was going to be happy, as I love to tip them accordingly since my mom once was a maid at another hotel of course. Another thing that I really love is that there are so many stores all around here. I mean, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, the Mall less then a mile away. This is really a convenient spot to be in. I was shopping at various stores all week since I came a few days earlier to relax and have a good time with thinking. Not your typical hotel since it is vintage filled with many antiques so if you want super fancy front desk, go elsewhere, But I like vintage. The only thing that I will say that was not the best is that the chlorine bleach could be smelled from all over the hotel, especially the first floor. But it wasn't super bad for me at all, just a little bothersome. I used a coupon to get a free hotel day stay so make sure you look for coupons buy googling this hotel, plus it had tons of other coupons also that were able to be used around the area. read more

Our stay at the Double Tree by Hilton - Bloomington was fantastic! At check in we were given warm cookies, a nice touch. This hotel is quite large with a TGI Friday's attached and a conference area. The beds were SUPER comfortable and the rooms spacious. The TV was nicer than most hotel televisions as well! Breakfast was one of the best comp breakfasts I've had. The usual stuff, but the quality was much better. The coffee was actually pretty great! I really enjoyed spending the morning sitting and drinking my coffee in the spacious and quaint courtyard. Pool, hot tub and work our are we're all available. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! All that being said, no brainer, I'd stay here again. read more

The Doubletree by Hilton in Bloomington is a spacious and comfortable hotel with plenty of on-site convenience. Check in was a breeze and the staff throughout our stay were friendly, professional and pleasant. The rooms were large and comfortable, with two beds, a writing desk and a spacious bathroom with a large hot shower. There is a bar on-site and during check in we were offered a couple free drinks (along with complimentary cookies!). There is also a gym, pool, and hot tub, and the offerings don't stop there. This is a very large hotel, with several large banquet halls and conference rooms. It is an ideal location for any kind of get together be it a wedding, birthday party, or business conference. In addition to the bar, courtyards and many rooms, there is also a restaurant attached to the hotel. The height of convenience. Our stay here way one of our favorites. We will be back! read more

Of the many hotels that I have stayed in here in the Bloomington/Normal area, the Doubletree is my favorite. There are a number of really I prefer this hotel: 1. The staff here are friendly and very efficient at their jobs. I've dealt with Ana, Paul, and Kelsey and each make it great to come here each week. A shorter blond girl was also sweet, but I forget her name. 2. They have a bar right on the property in the lobby. Great bartenders and fantastic drink specials. I haven't had the food yet, but it's nice to be able to get a drink and some snacks right downstairs. 3. If you're staying at a hotel in this area, there is a good chance you are working at Big Red. This is the closet hotel to their corporate headquarters, which makes the drive to work a breeze. 4. Rooms are nicely appointed and clean. Some rooms have fridges and microwaves and all rooms have HBO. 5. The warm cookies are amazing. Best cookies in the business! They don't need to add the calories on the package though! 6. Effective, quiet and easy to use AC/Heating units. 7. Fun random events for guests. They know must of us here are business travelers and make our lives easier when we're away from home. One thing they need to upgrade is the internet. Right now I'm getting 1MB/sec download speeds which isn't that great. See you at the Brass Elephant! read more

Check-in: AWESOME! Great, friendly staff. Their outfits were color-coordinated, really friendly, efficient, and welcoming. They have whiskey wednesdays, happy hour in the courtyard, and other awesome events for HHonors members that they give you all the flyers/paperwork about. Room: I was upgraded to a room with whirlpool and a fireplace (wall fireplace that separates the living room and bedroom). The fireplace was so cozy to sleep to and kept the room so warm and cozy. Living space was huge, had a wet bar and a refrigerator. Breakfast: The ambiance is a little lacking... Florescent lights, a little crowded, and table arrangements are a bit awkward. Breakfast itself was pretty decent. eggs weren't too "fake"like, soymilk was available. Business center: there wasn't one available during my stay- it was under construction. Pros: -Clean, modern, spacious rooms -Nice facilities -great service at the hotel bar -Attached to a TGIFRIDAYS next door to Panera -Front desk staff were friendly, upbeat, and helpful -Conference spaces were recently renovated. Very easy to get to different rooms at the conference -Beautiful ballroom for events -Comfy beds and pillows -large and abundant free breakfast buffet! Cons: -bottled water in the rooms were not free, but the labeling implied that it was free for Hilton Honors members. I was staying on the HH floor, but still got hit with a $3.50 fee for bottled water -would have liked a place to fill a water bottle. It was impossible to do this in the room sinks and I didn't see a water fountain. I asked the front desk where one was in the building and they gave me a complementary bottle from the fridge at the front desk. -would have liked a place to recycle. Had some cans and bottles in the room that I felt bad about throwing them away. -was never offered a trademark cookie :( Overall, a pleasant conference stay. Stayed at the DoubleTree for their New Years Eve party. Very nice to just be able to come upstairs after a night out. Their party was very fun. Food was excellent, entertainment was great, and an overall good time. The room was clean though starting to look outdated. I would think they will need renovated soon. The morning breakfast was better than I expected-very good biscuits and gravy. The best part, however, were the cookies at check in. Best cookie ever.
