This Residence Inn experience was so good that we found ourselves recommending it to any and every local family or friend for an excellent stay-cation spot. Between comfortable rooms, easy access to the next door Aldi for your cooking needs, and comprehensive amenities like a laundry room, pool, basketball shooting area, large fire pit conversation area, and exercise equipment, this is everything you need to relax. Rooms are large, and this is unquestionably one of the nicer Residence Inn properties you'll find. Prices were very high on a recent visit, but when there's an event in town you don't have much choice and they're dog friendly so quite a few people in the hotel seemed to have dogs. Breakfast is average, my welcome at the front desk upon check-in was the most aloof I've seen in 25+ year of travel, and I still don't have my points after 2 weeks so will probably need to fight for those in the coming week(s). It's a newer and nice building, and the rooms are about the best you'll find at at a Residence Inn. I would definitely consider staying here again when in the area. read more

We booked this property because because the Champlain Residence was full. The location is not especially convenient to I-74, but we like the Residence Inn while traveling. In short, the stay was as expected. Reception was smooth, room was clean and supplied as expected. Shower is large and hot water plentiful. One change to expect if you stay here (and at any similar property I expect) is that the hot breakfast has been replaced with all wrapped foods, a Covid accommodation I'm sure. Breakfast sandwiches are provided and a microwave is there for heating them. All pastries, etc. likewise are individually wrapped. We would stay again. read more

Not impressed with this particular hotel. Room 1. Upon checking in after a long drive I immediately used my toilet to find no toilet paper. 2. Shower amenities are nice (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). The body was container was stuck in the closed position and thus not available. 3. The hot water for the shower was adequate in that it wasn't uncomfortable but even turned up to full hot the water did not get as hot as I would have liked it to. This occurred through my stay in morning and at night so I don't feel as if it was an issue of others running hot water out. 4. The heater/air system can be quite loud compared to many other places I have stayed Overall hotel: 1. Pool area: First and foremost if you look on their website and see that there is a hot tub in the pool area be advised that these are OLD PHOTOS. I felt like I had been misled because I specifically booked this hotel because from the photos it appeared to have a hot tub. Nope. In addition, on my first evening the entire pool area was 'closed for maintenance' but no one seemed to know why and thus no one had a timeline on when it may be open again. It was open on my second night. 2. Breakfast: typical breakfast fare. I made my bowl of oatmeal and found that the container labeled for brown sugar packets was empty. I asked the staff member working the area and was informed they were out. So I decided to sweeten my oatmeal with syrup from the waffle making area. There was no regular syrup available and when I asked was curtly informed once again they were out of everything except the bottle of sugar free syrup. Went to use it and it was empty. So once again the worker seemed disturbed by my interruption to ask if there was any more. She brought a new bottle of the sugar free syrup out and placed it down on the counter. Still had all of the wrapping/seals on it. Sure I can open it but it just seemed like customer service was extremely lacking. 3. There is a 'bar area' in the lobby shown in pictures. This area is also still at the hotel but they no longer open this area. Any drinks you may want you will need to purchase from the limited options in their small market store area. 4. The announcement board. This really wasn't an issue for me but I think it speaks to the lack of care by employees at this location. Their announcements were still the same from when Covid restrictions were in place. The fact that no one has bothered to update the program for 2 years indicates a lack luster commitment to what most have come to expect from the Marriott brand. Overall the room was adequate. Size of the room was very big with a large couch to relax on and a large desk area to work at if needed. Ultimately this location served its purpose but next trip to this town I will try a different brand nearby hotel. read more

We enjoyed our stay here! The receptionist were great!!! And everything was very clean. We stayed 4 nights for thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed our stay! They were great during Covid being sure we had clean towels and sheets at all times. All you had to do was call the front desk request new towels, trash bags, dishwasher pods, and they brought it straight to you! The grounds were very well kept! In order to use the gym you simply had to let the front desk know you'd like 30-1 hr gym time, and your name would be put in a list for your gym time! The indoor pool is out of orders due to Covid which was due to obvious sanitary reasons! We will stay again! We also stayed here last year for thanksgiving and we had an amazing stay last year in 2019 also!! A+++ read more

The room itself was nice but the check-in experience left something to be desired. When I checked in, the asst. mgr gave me the keys to my room and when I entered the room, I noticed that there was luggage and items for someone else. I went back to the front desk and there was confusion on why that room was occupied. It took a few minutes and they finally figured out I was given the wrong room. This was very disturbing that the mgr did not even know which room was vacant and which was not. I was just very luck that no one happened to be in the room at the time that I entered. This could have been a huge issue if someone had been in the room at the time. read more

This property scheduled carpet cleaning during the weekend I was staying there. I reserved the room over a week in advance and I was never notified. The worst part is that the carpet cleaning company can go into your room without permission and without any consideration for a customer's wishes. You pay for a room to get some rest after days of traveling and yet they can disturb your peace at any time. I asked if I could cancel so I can stay in another hotel, but they said they require a 24 hour notice for a refund. So in short they won't give you advance notice about the work that will be carried out INSIDE YOUR ROOM, so you are stuck here because they won't issue a refund anyway. By the way, the carpet is so old and worn out that no amount of cleaning will make it look decent. The carpet needs to be replaced. Stay as far away from this property as you can! read more

I'd write a longer review, but honestly a short and sweet few words will tell this story. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the noise was low. Hotel has a small "bar", firepit and basketball court. The breakfast options were good quality, but be prompt because I did notice them taking items away shortly before cutoff to get ahead of the clean up. Just opened the third floor, so rooms there are especially new. I'd recommend this hotel to anybody coming to the city. read more

Stayed at this hotel due to a work trip. Tammy the General manager was very nice and checked my coworkers and I in pretty fast. My room was like a mini apt and I felt very comfortable there. The bed was comfy and so were the pillows. Housekeeping was great and even replaced my towels everyday even when I hung them up to reuse. Breakfast and dinner is provided at this hotel Monday through Wednesday so that helped me with my funds. The woman who set up the dinner was very nice and even made us homemade chocolate chip cookies! :) my group and I really appreciated that. The shuttle guy Chris is very friendly and I'm thankful he got up extra early to take us back to the airport. The only things I didn't like about this hotel is that you can hear people walking above you while in your room and them flushing the toilet. It wasn't that bad but the first night there the flushing startled me because I wasn't expecting that. Overall if I came back to Bloomington I would definitely stay here at this hotel. It deserves 4 stars in my opinion! read more

I just can't believe the value, cleanliness and and friendliness of this place! We have been here two days and our kids are loving it and especially the location! Breakfast is limited due to Illinois shelter in place; however, a decent spread. We are so pleased and the circumstances we had to need a place to stay were overcome by the great price and service. We will likely always stay at Marriott/Residence Inn from now on. Nice brand new Residence Inn right next to State Farm's Corporate South location. Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite - and everything was very nice, clean and nicely run. The breakfast is included and while it is not amazing - they do have several good options and well maintained. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent if you have to work at the Corporate South location - as you can pretty much walk to some of the buildings. Some food options nearby - but then again not far to drive anywhere in Bloomington. Like any new property - they do have some bugs to work out - and one is actual bugs. Small brown bugs that the front desk said were some kind of wood mite because the property was recently built on what used to be a field just a short while ago. And that they should be gone soon. My family and I travel through Bloomington every year and stay at this hotel on both the outgoing and incoming trip since they opened. This hotel has been amazing for families traveling with younger children with a full breakfast (although they are currently doing take-and-go bags with requests for a variety of food items to comply with the current COVID restrictions), a great salt-water/heated indoor pool, a fire pit/outdoor conversation area, basketball courts, and the rooms which accommodate a family very well (especially the 2-bedroom suites). The surrounding area also has walking and cycling paths, a small pond, and a nice kid-friendly park all within a mile of the property. It is located adjacent to the State Farm corporate headquarters, so most of their clientele are extended stay associates and visitors. That said, the rooms have full sized appliances and a stocked cabinet with all the dishes and utensils you would want or need to stay long term or have a meal "at home" while on the road. The rooms are kept in excellent condition and the gym and pool are constantly maintained. During COVID, they also bag the TV remotes with disposable bags and have masks and hand sanitizer everywhere if needed. The gym has 3 commercial grade treadmills with individual TV screens and cable sources with wide tracks and long decks. They also have a free weight bench and a great array of free weights. There are fresh towels readily available and even a scale to check your progress. The gym is open 24-hours a day. In the past, the salt-water pool was fantastic as my kids have a sensitivity to highly chlorinated pool water. An additional benefit is that the room the pool is in doesn't sting your eyes as you enter because of the high concentration of chlorine in the air. During a recent visit to the property, we had a couple of minor issues which Kevin (the General Manager) addressed promptly and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable on our return trip to the hotel a week later. He was very courteous, understanding, and made us feel more than welcome. My wife and I have both (individually) been Platinum Bonvoy members and have visited countless Marriott properties over the last 25 years (from Paris to Dubai to Bloomington) and we have no hesitation in stating that this has been one of our favorite properties, especially when we have the kids in tow. We look forward to our visits to this Residence Inn in Bloomington and with Kevin for many more years to come. read more

This hotel has an insane rule for the use of the fitness room. In order to use the room, you have to make an appointment, but it has to be the day of use. I cannot get an appointment for 5AM in the morning unless I make the appointment at 12:01AM. And then there must be a 15-minute time between appointments. So I have to set an alarm for 12:01 in order to make an appointment for 5 hours later... Had I known about this silly restriction, I would not have reserved my stay there. read more

The short version: this hotel is fantastic and exceeded expectations in every way. The long version: I arrived in town earlier than expected, and Assistant Manager Sarah was able to get me into a room anyway. I've never known a hotel to be so accommodating as to get me in at noon. Any place else I would have had to find something to do for at least an hour or so. The front desk attendant was Lexi, she was very pleasant and answered my questions about the area, saving me some time. The lobby is spacious and beautifully designed. Lots of natural light, attractive furniture and a fireplace really created a pleasant common room. It was a little disappointing that the bar is only open monday through wednesday, but they have a shop at the front counter that sells food and beer/wine. The best thing about the lobby for me is that I couldn't smell the pool. I hate smelling a pool when I don't want to be there. I stayed in a one bedroom suite, and it was phenomenal. The bed and couch were comfortable, the shower water pressure was perfect and the water temperature was easily regulated. Both televisions worked, and there were plentiful plates, glasses, and silverware. The heater was also very responsive, making my time in the room enjoyable. I was a little late for the breakfast, so pickings were kind of slim when I got there. That's my fault though, I got there at 9:40 and breakfast ends at 9:30, so no hard feelings. I still had very well prepared eggs and sausage. All in all, this was a great stay. Not only will I be back, I'll recommend Residence Inn to friends. read more

To whom it may concern : I made a reservation at the above Hotel for 14 days stay. I checked in 02/26/2021 and received an unpleasant welcome from the front desk by the name "Allysann". Unbothered by her demeanor, I settled in my room, today 02/27/2021 I heard a knock on my door about a smoking complaint from "my room" that I obviously wasn't smoking in. Was I surprised? No. She claimed the smell was from my room without any proof so her I asked her to walk in and check, she did but was still bent on her claim and asked that I vacate the room/hotel premises in an hour. Literally without no proof but a smell only she can perceive. I have stayed at several, uncountable Marriotts hotels in the past 10 years without a single complaint neither have I ever experienced any embarrassment like this. Not only did she ask me to leave within the next hour, but she also mentioned I will be charged $200 for "smoking "in the room and will also be charge for the of 02/27/2021 that I didn't sleep in. Mind you I am Marriott Bonvoy Gold Member. To avoid unnecessary drama, I decided to pack my bags and leave, barely 5 mins into my packing I heard another bang on my door, lo and behold it was 2 police officers standing right at my door. Basically there to enforce my removal from the hotel for no unjust reason. Not only was I ejected from the hotel, I am being charged $200 for an unconfirmed violation claims, as if that wasn't enough, I am also being charged for an extra night that I didn't sleep in the hotel. This is the most embarrassing, unpleasant and outrageous service I have ever experienced from Marriott in my entire life. I recorded all the activities and intend to share it on my social media so others know not to visit that location and quite frankly believe the hotel staffs are being racist, the location definitely speaks a lot of volume. All of their accusations are 0% baseless. If you are a person of color, I'd say to think twice before staying at this hotel. I have contacted Marriott and hoping to hear from them soon read more

I'm a Lifetime Platinum Premier member for 20 years. My awful experience starts with Front desk and the very very poor service. My Room wasn't ready at 340 pm, despite a mobile check in. She also wouldn't accommodate the floor that I wanted, even if I waited. I decide this isn't my hotel. I ask to cancel my reservation, she tells me I'm past the cancellation period. I've never had that happen at Hilton in my life. It might be a fun Marriott policy to hold their guests against their will. I leave the hotel, call customer care only to be treated worse that at the hotel. She actually refuses to escalate the call to a manager to get the hotel canceled for the night. Email Customer Care and get ignored with a response. Again, Hilton always responds with my Diamond member status. Check into a new hotel, her treated amazingly by the front desk and completely accommodate me at a moments notice in the same town. I then get a text from this property, from "Kelly" saying that I've been upgraded. I text back that what I really want is to simply have the room canceled, as stated when I left this property. The response was that it was past the cancelation period. Again, every hotel lets their guests cancel if the hotel is up to the level the guests expect, except this one. I replied to have the gm contact me. There was no response and I never heard from the gm or anyone else from this property and they charged my Visa. Very poor customer service and needlessly wasted a couple hours of my time and have this experience shared with all of my colleagues and Yelp. Its amazing the difference between a professional property and something run like this property. Awful waste of time by everyone at Marriott on this one. read more

This has been our go to hotel on trips between Michigan and Texas but our last stay was disappointing. Two main issues 1. The shower didn't work, the handle just spun in a circle, 2. The refrigerator was not working as temperature was tepid even on the coldest setting so any food we put there wasn't properly kept cold. Front desk did nothing on either account. read more

I travel a lot for work and pleasure. I can honestly say that the staff at the Marriott Residence Inn treats you like family. It's been my home away from home for the past 7 months, and every visit has been equivalent to a FIVE STAR rating! I would put this staff up against the best in the US. What a great hotel to spend over Thanksgiving weekend! The check in was flawless, a bright smile at the end of traveling, followed by my family excited about the huge room and beautiful decor. They even were excited about the oven and thought we should move Thanksgiving dinner to the hotel room. All it takes is one bad thing to turn off a customer. If I go to a restaurant I expect to get a comfortable table in a reasonable time, get served quickly by a polite and competent person, find food I like on the menu, have it served hot, have the server check back from time to time and get the check when I am ready for it. And maybe even some more things like a lack of insects and rodents and a clean restroom. If any one of these comes up short it colors my experience. Yes it is tough to please customers these days. So it is with a hotel. And this hotel comes up short on one of my current pet peeves. They do not have newspapers! No complementary paper. And they won't even sell papers in their shop. Yes, the grounds were neat and tidy. Yes, the desk clerk greeted me according to her training. Yes, it was all clean inside. No bedbugs. Yes, the complementary breakfast was the current standard we expect. Yes, the room was what I expect from a R. I. But, I like my morning paper for two reasons. First, I am an old guy and the morning paper is a habit. Sure, I spend a lot of time on the internet and can find any news (and even cartoons) there. But, second, we need to support journalism! As advertisers shift to buying clicks instead of buying display ads, newspapers are shutting down and journalists are losing their jobs. Most of what I see on the web is bullshit opinion rather than supported facts. It makes me wonder if Marriott is just supporting Trump. read more

Do not stay there! Got bed bugs bites bad! Contacted the hotel and the assistant manager completely disregarded my complaint. Terrible!

So upon checking in with my family of five tonight I was asked how many would be sleeping in the room. For the past 18 years we've been all sleeping in the same room. The assistant GM then told me that the room wouldn't sleep five...it does if you have an aero bed. From there this 52 year old was lectured about how the room will only sleep three adults; how I had only put one adult down when making the reservation...busted...and how she would begrudgingly 'let it go this time'. Marriott is known for their superior service. I've been in their rewards program for years and try to stay at their hotels whenever I can. I've never been scolded and embarrassed like I was at the Bloomington Residence Inn. I'm a bit at a loss. The hotel itself is great, nice, clean and new. For that they get one star. read more

Been staying in this hotel for the past 3 months for work every other week. The rooms are always clean, the food is always great and the employees are super friendly. They also go out of their way to make sure that hey meet whatever needs you may have that come up. Also have some nice amenities. Nice workout room and a rockin hot tub. Thought we'd try something " different " as we do on an occasional road trip with our grand daughters. As we were attending a hockey game in Bloomington we chose this hotel... I'll try to put it short, cause I could do pages ... This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed, in our mature age - hundreds. To sum it up, BUGS BUGS BUGS, live & dead in the room & beds under the covers & on top of the comforter, they moved us to another room SAME ISSUE, along with used glass in the kitchenette (we chose the two bedroom suite) The asst manager actually said after she picked a bug off the bed & squeezed it to its death...and flipped it on the floor, "they only live about 4 hours" " we are having a major problem" I said you just flipped that on the floor, she said " well we are moving you to another room anyway" UNREAL. The manager's lack of customer service was shown when he said "well this wasn't your first hotel choice anyway" Certainly right on that Mr GM & it won't even be on a list ever again.... This hotel was absolutely awesome! Beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. We had a king room for 2 nights and it was pretty much a studio apartment. King size bed, large desk, section sleeper sofa, large closet, large sink area, walk-in glass shower, and a full kitchen (minus an oven). The bed was very comfortable and the kids even enjoyed the sofa bed. So many amenities, I can't name them all. The RF reader door cards were high end, an indoor pool and hot tub, outdoor area with gas fire pit and bbq area, large lobby with plenty of comfy seating, and the breakfast was AMAZING! One thing to note: we stayed Saturday and Sunday night, on the 3rd floor, with no issues with noise. I have heard that Mon, Tue, and Wed nights have some special events at the bar, so it may be louder. read more

I would have given this hotel five stars, were it not for the fact that, when turned on, the TVs in the rooms automtically default to Fox News. Is the hotel paid to program their TVs to default to Fox News? If not, why would all (we had a suite with three TVs, total) of their TVs be programmed in this way? If indeed they are paid to do so, I find this despicable. In these divided political times, it is 1) highly concerning that a hotel organization would make this decision, and 2) a violation of conscience, to turn on a TV and be faced with the type of programs / messaging that this channel broadcasts. This is our go-to hotel for family visits; however, I won't stay here again if I call ahead & am told that all TVs continue to default to Fox News. Disgusting. read more

I had planned a 3 night stay at this location due to the swimming pool and hot tub. I had many options but I am a Marriott member and the hotel did have 2 bedrooms. We arrived and the room was ready but I was informed that the pool is closed I asked why and was told Covid but I said other hotels allow 1 family at a time with an appointment but that news went on deaf ears. I was also informed that the breakfast was going to be grab and go. Did not know what that means but we were at Stay Bridge Suits and they sure had a better breakfast grab and go. Juice, fruit cups , yogert and waffles as well as individual wrapped bread and bagels. They only gave us a brown paper bag with a granola bar, multigrain bar ,a small Otis spunkmeyer muffin plus a bottle of water. I asked about this setup and was told Covid 19. I asked for juice or milk for my kid and they wanted me to pay for that. My son was super disappointed for he really likes waffles and juice but that was not to be and for each day we had the same bag of Marriott's idea of grab and go.The manager texted me about our stay and Mr. Shaw did not think that what he was serving was wrong. I explained the other hotels had provided better options and he did not respond to my text. The total for that grab and go was less then 1.00. Knowing his guests are still trying to stay at a hotel you would think he and the staff would be more creative with the offerings. I had even suggested to him he could have given the guests a list of nearby restaurants and considering this pandemic work with them for his guests to get a discount. But Mr. Shaw is treating his guests to a kids lunch snack. Too bad Marriott's name is on this manager's nametag. Motel 6 had a better breakfast grab and go. Our friends stayed there and were served better. I would have given the hotel a 1 star but the room was clean and they had a basketball court. There was no seating in the court area and I went to buy a basketball for I was not sure if that was Covid 19 blocked like the pool. read more

Excellent customer service from beginning to end. I called the hotel front desk to make the reservation, and was assisted by a very efficient, lovely woman (I wish I could remember her name.) She was able to book me at the rate I was not able to get on the internet due to a glitch. Check in was a breeze, and the two bedroom, two bath suite was immaculate, and tastefully decorated. My grandchildren enjoyed having their own bedroom, and loved, loved, loved the pool and Jacuzzi. The microwave popcorn in the room was a nice touch. We all enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
