The DoubleTree in Oak Brook is a perfect reflection of the Hilton brand. From the moment you arrive, the guest service stands out--warm greetings, exceptional professionalism, and even an early check-in that set the tone for a great stay. You can genuinely sense the pride the staff takes in their work. The hotel itself is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Its location is also a major plus, with plenty of restaurants and shopping options just minutes away. Overall, an excellent stay and a property I'd gladly return to.

Terribly worn out and outdated property. Still trying to figure out why I gave a second star, but I'll never stay here again.

What can you improve everything. I don't like giving poor scores, but this place definitely needs renovation. The lobby looks fantastic but past that it's in serious need of an overhaul. Even the hallways have stains. Inside the room, especially the bathroom. The ceiling paint is peeling off the walls. Not sure they even tried to upgrade anything recently maybe the bathroom mirror.. there is no refrigerator or microwave. The toilet kept running, and I was unable to turn the heater down, so it was extremely hot. I tried calling the front desk to change rooms, but no answer. It rang and rang and rang and rang. Ended up having to go down to the front desk. Talked to the lady and immediately she said full disclosure. Every single room is the same. Because I wanted to change rooms. I know they're not just looking out my window. I see rooms with balconies so I don't appreciate being told incorrect information when they just don't feel like helping me out. Thats the feeling I got and it's unfortunate. I will not stay here again.

Mini staycation in Oakbrook in celebration of my husband's birthday. He's been working so hard. With all of the busyness in Chicago his off days were canceled. He hates when I make a fuss over him but I love the joy it brings. Doubletree has always provided comfortable accommodations, great customer service and let's not forget about those warm chocolate chip cookies. As we checked in, Sean at the front desk was telling jokes. He said you have got to have fun at work. We agreed. Love his personality. Our room was nice and clean, comfy bed and good pillows. We planned on getting up early for the breakfast buffet which is included with our stay. We both slept past breakfast. I picked a nearby place and made reservations. Thank you Doubletree for a good night's sleep.

Moved to another part of Chicago to be closer to this area for work. Beautiful hotel and it is a great event space. Room was nice. The bed was amazing. Based on availability ended up in an accessible room with a bathtub based but it works. Being here on business I was annoyed that the ironing board was missing and they are half sized. There was one outside my door on checkin and just disappeared as it was beat up and never replaced. Thank goodness for wrinkle release. Special shout out to Camella at the front desk and Anna in the restaurant and bar. These two employees are amazing and do their jobs well with exceptional guest service and attitudes. Some things to mention that were not on brand was the Terrible toilet paper (stiff, thin, not confortsble and the cheapest) and the amazon essentials washcloths. I mean it ok but not what you except. The most important issue was the indoor pool and jacuzzi/spa was drained and closed which was not advertised and still offered as an amenity. I thought, I brought my trunks for this? The hotel is beautiful on the inside, great spaces and meeting rooms, guest rooms are warm and inviting, and you can't go wrong with their cookies. I loved that they were not stingy with cooks or water for Hilton Honors Members. As a Diamond member, I really appreciated that the accommodated an early checkin and the extra bottles of water when asked. Get that pool fixed and I'll stay here again. Not too far from downtown and really great hotel.

Time for some upgrades to the room. Everything else in the area is so nice specifically the restaurants. But when you come to a room looking like this with holes in the wall. Come on. And we are also taking on water through the ceiling.

I've stay at this specific hotel 3-4 times and I will not be returning. The location is great, and feels safe but the hotel itself is pretty run down. The hotel needs some help (upgrades, cleaning and maintenance). The furniture and TVs in the rooms are dated. The shower heads are so low, it makes it really challenging to shower. The shower water pressure makes it impossible to shower quickly. As I was showering, I found myself standing in a huge bathtub of lukewarm water because the tub would not drain (eww!). The warm cookie and complimentary water bottles are not enough of an incentive to come back. Really unfortunate because the location is great, but not worth the price you pay. I will definitely be looking into other hotel options when I visit the area again. PROS: * free parking * parking garage * great location * breakfast buffet for $16.99 per person (nice to offer something, but not anything to go crazy about - eggs, potatoes, French toast, bacon, sausage and pastries) * bar/restaurant on site * variety of surrounding restaurants * mall is across the street * welcome warm cookie * complimentary water bottles * great front desk customer service CONS: * AC didn't rework during November stay. I set the thermostat to 64° in hopes to cool the room down, but the room felt like it was at least 75°-78° at all times * black hair all over the bathroom floor (these rooms are not cleaned thoroughly) * flat old pillows * no refrigerator in room * furniture in rooms is worn down and needs attention * no room cleaning unless you stay more than 4 consecutive days

Don't want to bury the lede so: BEDBUG STORY. My wife and I went to Chicago to visit a daughter and I had booked a room at the DoubleTree in Brook Park. It wasn't close but it was Labor Day weekend and I had waited too long to book and it was close enough and affordable (still, about $200 a night!). I checked in through the Hilton App but when we got up to our room on the 4th floor right away our senses were assaulted by what smelled like rotting old used carpet and garbage. There were floor fans running and it was obvious there had been a flooding (cause unknown). We went into our room but the smell followed us, so I went down to ask for a different room. They sent us to room 221 but that already had someone in it so back to the front desk where they said they meant to send us to 224 (their mistake). Truth to tell we could still somewhat smell the moldy carpet way down on the second floor so the water was obviously sinking downward, but we still stayed that first night. We came back to the hotel after being out the next day only to spot a bedbug sitting right on one of the beds in the middle. My wife freaked out and this time they moved us to the sixth floor (and comped us one night) where we didn't see any more bugs and we were above the water stink smell. However my wife still didn't sleep well. We guessed the water from above might have chased the bedbug out of hiding, but just a guess. My real complaint is the same as always. The staff tried their hardest to make us happy but their is only so much they can do when ownership allows maintenance to be lax in a hotel that has the name HILTON on it. Rich corporations screw workers and customers when they let buildings decay. The carpeting in this place was really old and dingy, so no surprise a little water brought out the worst. Also the pool was out of commission (maybe for a long time? There was black tape over all the Pool signs). Do better Hilton!!!

It was... disappointing and NOTHING like the real Drake…read more Honestly, upon arriving and seeing the place up close, I decided to leave and not stay after all. I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

We stayed two nights at The Drake Oak Brook on a trip in for a concert at Allstate Arena, and by…read morethe end of it, we were already talking about when we'd come back. This is a hotel where the staff is genuinely the star. The valet, a seasoned guy with a classic Chicago accent, was warm, quick with recommendations, and set the tone the second we pulled up. The front desk matched him. For a four-diamond property at around $200 a night, it punches well above the price. The property itself earns its reputation. The landscaping is beautifully kept, with a gazebo and plenty of outdoor seating that works for a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink. Inside, the lobby has what look like Chihuly-style glass sculptures and a mid-century-Chicago kind of grandeur -- you can tell this place has hosted a lot of weddings and receptions, and it would be great for them. Our room was impressive. No real view, but the finishes were strong, the shower was good, and, a minor miracle, the TV actually worked and streamed without a fight. The in-room drink cart was generously stocked with pre-made cocktails and select wines, a nice touch you don't see often. The bar downstairs was a highlight: the "skeleton key" in the room unlocks a free off-menu drink, which is exactly the kind of small-theater move that makes a hotel feel like it has a personality. Our Platinum Marriott status got us a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast, and they were generous with points on top of that. The breakfast was nice -- though I'll be honest, I wouldn't have paid $24 for the quality of their continental spread without the comp. Parking was easy, valet is free, and the gym has Peloton bikes (we didn't use them, but good to know). 3.7 stars overall. The honest gripes: doors on the east building are thin. We could hear hallway conversations clearly, and at times other rooms, not a dealbreaker this time as people were quiet at a reasonable time, but surprising for a property at this level. The exterior lighting has also not been maintained, bulbs are out around the building, and only the "th" in the classic mid-century "The Drake" sign was lit up, which is a shame because that sign is a whole vibe when it's fully on. Also, fair warning: a traveling baseball team had effectively colonized the bar during our stay, with a swarm of tired kids and tireder parents. Not the hotel's fault, but worth knowing if you're coming for a quiet getaway during kids baseball season. What would push it to four stars: better sound insulation on the east-side rooms and a maintenance pass on the exterior lighting. Both are fixable, and the rest of the experience is already there. We'll likely be back.

The cornerish room (edge middle room between two corner rooms) they gave me looked to be recently remodeled. It looks like everything in the building is recently renovated so things for the most part seem newish. No cobwebs or dust in sight (aside from the top of the fridge being a bit dusty, but alas I don't think 6'+ housekeepers are common.) Rooms are equipped with dishwashers, full size electric ovens (some don't have an oven so you have to request it,) a toaster, microwave & a fridge. They feature stand-in showers & low height toilets. Pretty much everything in the rooms is low height which is perfect, especially for those with disabilities. The Residence Inn offers a free all you can eat breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:00 am Monday thru Friday & from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on weekends. There is a pool, jacuzzi, laundry room & gym. It also has a small "marketplace" next to the front desk that consists of a few items you can grab like soda, TV dinners & snacks along with personal care items. Since the hotel is small, all of the amenities are scaled to match. This means things like the marketplace & breakfast buffet have nowhere near the selection of other busier Residence Inns like the one in downtown Phoenix which also includes things like salisbury steak, chinese food & whatever they felt like cooking for breakfast alongside the standard waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, meats, cereal, etc. The breakfast here is a measly eggs (cage free,) bacon, muffins (jalapeno cheddar biscuits in muffin form so not sweet dessert muffins,) & oatmeal. Even though the breakfast ends at a certain time they do have mini fridges that have fat free milk & yogurt along with coffee/water dispensers that are always available (they shutdown the juice dispenser once breakfast closes.) There are several cons though. My room preferences were completely ignored when they assigned the room. Since the edge room they assigned me was on a lower level & near the exit...hearing the frequent slamming of the exit door as people took the stairs was not ideal. Speaking of doors...my door was defective & wouldn't close all of the way naturally so I had to push it until it clicked every single time otherwise anyone could literally just push the door open. The view was also terrible as it overlooked the parking lot & had trees, street lights, etc. blocking the window. The ice maker on the fridge was way too loud. It produces ice at a super slow pace & the buzzer seems to go off every 30 minutes or so. When the ice is done it makes a loud bang almost like a bomb went off as it dispenses the ice into the bucket. The second con is the lack of in-house food options. Third is that there's no shuttle that'll take you to nearby places which is a missed opportunity to earn a lot of extra business from traveling professionals & tourists. For some reason there were no baking pans even though my room had an oven although they did have utensils, plates, pots, etc. The rooms are also not as soundproof as they should be... with me being able to hear people walking outside in a hallway as well as them coming in going from their rooms. I also occasionally heard my neighbors upstairs & adjacent to me moving around or snoring all of which is concerning as it leaves me wondering how much they heard from my room? For a place geared towards business...privacy should be a priority. There was also whisper levels of strange electrical noises that seems to have come from the minisplit HVAC system. I was told house keeping cleans every other day, but they didn't touch my room for the first four days even though I saw them in the hallway. It took me sitting my overflowing trash cans outside of my door for them to go inside & clean the room. Even then they didn't actually clean anything, moreso just replaced the towels as well as made the bed after taking out the trash (of which the recycle bin was returned with large bits of food in it which wasn't mine so even that was not cleaned.) Also be aware of the $5/day parking fee added to your room bill which is charged even if you aren't even driving & therefore aren't using the parking lot. There was no hand soap as well as no lotion in the room so I had to use the liquid body wash in the shower along with my own lotion. Overall, this is a much better option than the normal Marriott hotel in Downer's Grove. The bed is actually comfortable enough to sleep on, the minisplit HVAC system doesn't kick in like a mule (other than the electrical noise it's rather quiet when on,) and every other amenity is leagues ahead of a regular Marriott.
