Carpet needs to be replaced! See the tape holding it down?

This is an older hotel. The carpets need to be replaced and the fixtures are rusted. I was expecting better from Hilton. The elevators are slow and they had pool water all over the lobby floor. The breakfast wasn't bad yet it does cost. The front desk clerk Loyce was helpful.

Clean rooms (they still clean daily unless you request otherwise). I love these indoor open atrium style Hiltons. I've seen perhaps 3 in this exact style and they all have a neat retro feel to them. Breakfast was not included and a bit pricey at $20 per person. But, it was Chicago so what can you expect. Front desk was accommodating and the location was great for all of our activities. 4 stars since they were charging $20 for scrambled eggs.

Just two days before Christmas, two friends and I decided to do a staycation near Oak Brook, and this hotel was a great choice. The location is super convenient, making it easy to access nearby attractions. One thing that really stood out was how soundproof the rooms were--we didn't hear a peep from other guests, which made for a very relaxing stay. I also appreciated being able to park right out front--it was so convenient! While the rooms could definitely use some upgrades to feel more modern, they were comfortable and clean overall. For the price and location, it was a nice stay, and I'd consider coming back.

I was meeting some friends in Villa Park, so I thought I'd stay at this hotel, which I haven't been to before. The hotel is very easy to find..... just look for the Oak Brook Tower and Drury Lane. Upon arrival, I was able to find a parking spot right away, I was lucky since Drury Lane uses the same parking area. The hotel will give you a placard to display in the vehicle. Entering the hotel, which reminded me of an Embassy Suites with the open atrium, various setting area and then the breakfast area. The reception desk was off to the side. The staff was very pleasant informing me about the amenities of the hotel. When I had arrived at noonish, a suite was available. Entering the suite, was a good size living area with a wet bar. From there, I went into the private bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed. Even though the bathroom as two entrances, the room offers a separate shower and a bathtub. Granted the suite could be updated a bit, however, it didn't dampen my stay. For breakfast, I had two options, Full breakfast or the Continental Breakfast. The full breakfast was a buffet which was decent. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

It is not a clean hotel, I asked for a clean room, after I was given a room. They told me they were booked and could not give me one. I have pictures of the room, that they gave me. I did not put my bags down. The room was to dirty, and the lock did not work. I was staying alone. I told them that I can not stay in this room with a broken lock. They sent someone up to the room to fix the lock, but I just could not stay there.

BEYOND DISAPPOINTED! After an incredibly stressful weekend i decided to take myself and my little girl for an over night at a hotel with a pool. The total coat was $245 for a night. So you would think that price tag would reflect on the rooms? Oh was i wrong!!! As you can see in the pictures it was like staying in a motel 6. Broken and chipped furniture, things hanging off the wall, even a lovely spider egg hanging from the incredibly dated popcorn ceiling.I shared my frustration with the lady at the front desk who was very sweet and said she would leave a note for the manager to reach out tomorrow. I was not offered a room change. So i did not hear anything all day and took it upon myself to reach just around 4. Was told the same thing that the manager would reach out. This was tuesday. Then Friday when i received an automated email asking about my stay I expressed the same concerns (still had not heard back from a manager). Less than an hour later, I got a response from the general manager, basically saying that he would address these concerns. So A manager was unable to call me back, but was able to immediately respond to an email And was not attempting to fix the problem. I had to reach out to hotels.com because I booked through them. At this point I I was beyond frustrated. Which is understandable. Hotels.com then said they would have to reach out and get back to me. Today I received an email that the property refuses to give me any kind of refund. I urge you to rethink your stay here! I am by no means a high maintenance woman when it comes to hotels But this is embarrassing and unacceptable. ESPECIALLY For what they expect people to pay!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

    Holes in wall

By far the worst hotel we have stayed at of any brand. Holes in the walls, loose plumbing fixtures, moldy grout in the shower, peeling wallpaper, old scuffed furniture as well as visible dirt on the bathroom floor. We switched rooms and the new room was a little cleaner but just as run down. There was never a manager on hand for us to speak to. We wanted to check out early but the desk staff could not authorize that without a manager's approval. Some of the staff mentioned that they have heard all of these complaints before.

I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

This is a hotel where the staff is genuinely the star. The valet, a seasoned guy with a classic Chicago accent, was warm, quick with recommendations, and set the tone the second we pulled up. The front desk matched him. For a four-diamond property at around $200 a night, it punches well above the price. The property itself earns its reputation. The landscaping is beautifully kept, with a gazebo and plenty of outdoor seating that works for a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink. Inside, the lobby has what look like Chihuly-style glass sculptures and a mid-century-Chicago kind of grandeur -- you can tell this place has hosted a lot of weddings and receptions, and it would be great for them. Our room was impressive. No real view, but the finishes were strong, the shower was good, and, a minor miracle, the TV actually worked and streamed without a fight. The in-room drink cart was generously stocked with pre-made cocktails and select wines, a nice touch you don't see often. The bar downstairs was a highlight: the "skeleton key" in the room unlocks a free off-menu drink, which is exactly the kind of small-theater move that makes a hotel feel like it has a personality. Our Platinum Marriott status got us a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast, and they were generous with points on top of that. The breakfast was nice -- though I'll be honest, I wouldn't have paid $24 for the quality of their continental spread without the comp. Parking was easy, valet is free, and the gym has Peloton bikes (we didn't use them, but good to know). 3.7 stars overall. The honest gripes: doors on the east building are thin. We could hear hallway conversations clearly, and at times other rooms, not a dealbreaker this time as people were quiet at a reasonable time, but surprising for a property at this level. The exterior lighting has also not been maintained, bulbs are out around the building, and only the "th" in the classic mid-century "The Drake" sign was lit up, which is a shame because that sign is a whole vibe when it's fully on. Also, fair warning: a traveling baseball team had effectively colonized the bar during our stay, with a swarm of tired kids and tireder parents. Not the hotel's fault, but worth knowing if you're coming for a quiet getaway during kids baseball season. What would push it to four stars: better sound insulation on the east-side rooms and a maintenance pass on the exterior lighting. Both are fixable, and the rest of the experience is already there. We'll likely be back.

I attempted to give this hotel another opportunity after a recent negative experience where they promised to compensate me with 10,000 points and it took 12 follow-ups before anyone ever responded to me. The issue this time revolves around me being blatantly lied to about room availability. I booked a standard room and part of the perk of having status is upgrades upon availability. There were plenty of junior suites available the night in question, but the front desk was guarding them as if their life depended on it. Mind you, this is close to midnight and for one night, so it's not as if they had many opportunities to upsell the rooms. When addressed to management, they weren't very accommodating either and just made more excuses. I'm loyal to Marriott but will choose a better managed property the next time I'm visiting the area.

The cornerish room (edge middle room between two corner rooms) they gave me looked to be recently remodeled. It looks like everything in the building is recently renovated so things for the most part seem newish. No cobwebs or dust in sight (aside from the top of the fridge being a bit dusty, but alas I don't think 6'+ housekeepers are common.) Rooms are equipped with dishwashers, full size electric ovens (some don't have an oven so you have to request it,) a toaster, microwave & a fridge. They feature stand-in showers & low height toilets. Pretty much everything in the rooms is low height which is perfect, especially for those with disabilities. The Residence Inn offers a free all you can eat breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:00 am Monday thru Friday & from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on weekends. There is a pool, jacuzzi, laundry room & gym. It also has a small "marketplace" next to the front desk that consists of a few items you can grab like soda, TV dinners & snacks along with personal care items. Since the hotel is small, all of the amenities are scaled to match. This means things like the marketplace & breakfast buffet have nowhere near the selection of other busier Residence Inns like the one in downtown Phoenix which also includes things like salisbury steak, chinese food & whatever they felt like cooking for breakfast alongside the standard waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, meats, cereal, etc. The breakfast here is a measly eggs (cage free,) bacon, muffins (jalapeno cheddar biscuits in muffin form so not sweet dessert muffins,) & oatmeal. Even though the breakfast ends at a certain time they do have mini fridges that have fat free milk & yogurt along with coffee/water dispensers that are always available (they shutdown the juice dispenser once breakfast closes.) There are several cons though. My room preferences were completely ignored when they assigned the room. Since the edge room they assigned me was on a lower level & near the exit...hearing the frequent slamming of the exit door as people took the stairs was not ideal. Speaking of doors...my door was defective & wouldn't close all of the way naturally so I had to push it until it clicked every single time otherwise anyone could literally just push the door open. The view was also terrible as it overlooked the parking lot & had trees, street lights, etc. blocking the window. The ice maker on the fridge was way too loud. It produces ice at a super slow pace & the buzzer seems to go off every 30 minutes or so. When the ice is done it makes a loud bang almost like a bomb went off as it dispenses the ice into the bucket. The second con is the lack of in-house food options. Third is that there's no shuttle that'll take you to nearby places which is a missed opportunity to earn a lot of extra business from traveling professionals & tourists. For some reason there were no baking pans even though my room had an oven although they did have utensils, plates, pots, etc. The rooms are also not as soundproof as they should be... with me being able to hear people walking outside in a hallway as well as them coming in going from their rooms. I also occasionally heard my neighbors upstairs & adjacent to me moving around or snoring all of which is concerning as it leaves me wondering how much they heard from my room? For a place geared towards business...privacy should be a priority. There was also whisper levels of strange electrical noises that seems to have come from the minisplit HVAC system. I was told house keeping cleans every other day, but they didn't touch my room for the first four days even though I saw them in the hallway. It took me sitting my overflowing trash cans outside of my door for them to go inside & clean the room. Even then they didn't actually clean anything, moreso just replaced the towels as well as made the bed after taking out the trash (of which the recycle bin was returned with large bits of food in it which wasn't mine so even that was not cleaned.) Also be aware of the $5/day parking fee added to your room bill which is charged even if you aren't even driving & therefore aren't using the parking lot. There was no hand soap as well as no lotion in the room so I had to use the liquid body wash in the shower along with my own lotion. Overall, this is a much better option than the normal Marriott hotel in Downer's Grove. The bed is actually comfortable enough to sleep on, the minisplit HVAC system doesn't kick in like a mule (other than the electrical noise it's rather quiet when on,) and every other amenity is leagues ahead of a regular Marriott.
