This was my first time staying at the Residence Inn here in Oakbrook. Overall I would say it was a very nice experience. It is a nice location close to a number of restaurants along with shopping! Staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival and all throughout interactions during my stay. It was super nice to have a social hour/dinner provided during my stay. They provided burgers, salad, chips, beer & wine (all free of charge) they also have a number of other events throughout the week. There are plenty of nice touches they provide which sets them apart from others!! Rooms are spacious with plenty of room to spread out. I would say that the rooms and amenities are a bit outdated and could use some upgrades. Elevators are extremely slow and the heaters in room appear to be very old and start to over heat/smell if you have them on too long. Fitness room has limited equipment but enough to get a basic workout in. Certainly a nice place to stay!

All I can say is just DON'T Go Here!!! This was our 3rd visit here and the rooms were NOT clean ECAH time! Each time we had to be moved to multiple rooms and 2 of the 3 times I had to reach out to Ken Whiteside the Assistant General Manager multiple times. The 1st time it took almost a year for him to respond, I'm STILL awaiting a response from this last stay June16 - 18, 2023. They REALLY do NOT care about the level of service they provide. The attached photos are from our last stay.

I travel to Oak Brook a LOT. I have stayed in at least 7 different hotels in the area and this property will get my return business. When I arrived the gal at the front desk (pretty sure her name was Deborah) was so incredibly welcoming it set the tone for a comfortable 2 night stay. The rooms are large with a full kitchen, clean and nice sleep quality. They do complimentary breakfast each morning and an evening Happy Hour some nights. Plenty of parking and tucked away in a quiet business park despite proximity to the freeway.

Very clean hotel. My room was quiet and clean. The staff at the front desk are wonderful, courteous, and helpful. They have breakfast and cocktail hour with food. It's a great value. My only negative, was my room couldn't get dark at night. There are very bright lights in the lot of the hotel and I couldn't adjust the curtains to shut it the light. Other than that, a perfect experience.

This place was completely disappointing. My husband and I were here for work. The A/C didn't work during the day and the temperature outside were in the 80's. The elevator broke and I got stuck in a hot muggy elevator for 10 minutes. I tried using the emergency equipment to call and no one ever answered or came to assist. Finally the elevator moved and I was able to get out. I called later to see if the elevator would be working in the morning (so we wouldn't have to lug all of our luggage down the stairs), the lady at the front desk had the nerve to be annoyed I was askinThe icing to the cake was discovering a leak in the vent above the toilet....maintenance came and put a bucket under it, but if we want to use the bathroom we have to go down three flights of stairs....I will never come back to this place.

Residence Inn holds true to its' name. I really felt like I stayed in a condo complex where everyone got together in the morning to share in the HOA provided continental breakfast. As you can see from the photos, the standard size room is quite large. Besides the bathroom and bedroom area, there's also a "living room" space with a couch, 2 comfy chairs and a tv. The kitchen and small dining/bar area is what really did it for me. Full size fridge, a full set of silverware, plates, wine glasses, juice glasses, dishwasher! Plus, they offer free grocery shopping service. Write down what you need and they will purchase it for you (purchased items billed to the room). Although I didn't use that service, just having that option was very tempting. I really felt that I lived here because of the kitchen. The indoor swimming pool is small with a max depth of 5 feet. The hottub was frequented by little kids. The exercise room is next to the swimming pool, so you can watch people swim as you run on the treadmill. Other equipment in the room are ellipticals, free weights, and some stationary bikes. Each machine has a remote to the tv, which is handy.

Spent a weekend here with my family about two months ago, but I did not get around to finishing my review. The hotel has recently gone through a renovation. All the rooms are clean and decorated nicely. I especially liked the social area adjacent to the lobby. This area doubles as a dinning area for the breakfast service, but once clear, it is comfortable place to sit and read or watch to a game on the big screen TVs, with other guests. The staff here were courteous and very accomodating with all of our requests. We would definitley come back here for another stay.

It was... disappointing and NOTHING like the real Drake…read more Honestly, upon arriving and seeing the place up close, I decided to leave and not stay after all. I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

This is a hotel where the staff is genuinely the star. The valet, a seasoned guy with a classic Chicago accent, was warm, quick with recommendations, and set the tone the second we pulled up. The front desk matched him. For a four-diamond property at around $200 a night, it punches well above the price. The property itself earns its reputation. The landscaping is beautifully kept, with a gazebo and plenty of outdoor seating that works for a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink. Inside, the lobby has what look like Chihuly-style glass sculptures and a mid-century-Chicago kind of grandeur -- you can tell this place has hosted a lot of weddings and receptions, and it would be great for them. Our room was impressive. No real view, but the finishes were strong, the shower was good, and, a minor miracle, the TV actually worked and streamed without a fight. The in-room drink cart was generously stocked with pre-made cocktails and select wines, a nice touch you don't see often. The bar downstairs was a highlight: the "skeleton key" in the room unlocks a free off-menu drink, which is exactly the kind of small-theater move that makes a hotel feel like it has a personality. Our Platinum Marriott status got us a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast, and they were generous with points on top of that. The breakfast was nice -- though I'll be honest, I wouldn't have paid $24 for the quality of their continental spread without the comp. Parking was easy, valet is free, and the gym has Peloton bikes (we didn't use them, but good to know). 3.7 stars overall. The honest gripes: doors on the east building are thin. We could hear hallway conversations clearly, and at times other rooms, not a dealbreaker this time as people were quiet at a reasonable time, but surprising for a property at this level. The exterior lighting has also not been maintained, bulbs are out around the building, and only the "th" in the classic mid-century "The Drake" sign was lit up, which is a shame because that sign is a whole vibe when it's fully on. Also, fair warning: a traveling baseball team had effectively colonized the bar during our stay, with a swarm of tired kids and tireder parents. Not the hotel's fault, but worth knowing if you're coming for a quiet getaway during kids baseball season. What would push it to four stars: better sound insulation on the east-side rooms and a maintenance pass on the exterior lighting. Both are fixable, and the rest of the experience is already there. We'll likely be back.
