We stayed here for two nights near the end of September while visiting family in the area. We usually stick with Hilton properties and like the Home2 Suites brand, but the Salem Home2 was considerably more expensive than the DoubleTree, so we decided to give this place a try. We booked ahead and checked in online, though we still had to stop at the front desk for keys. We're not quite ready to rely on the digital key in the Hilton app due to past experiences. The hotel is right off the Market Street exit in Salem. The area is fairly busy, and getting in and out of the parking lot--especially near the neighboring McDonald's--can be a little tricky if you need to turn left. Our room setup was somewhat similar to a Home2, though smaller, with just a mini fridge, microwave, and sofa seating. We were on the side facing I-5, so road noise was constant. It didn't bother us much--more like background white noise--but it was noticeable. The heating and cooling were controlled directly on the unit under the window, which is typical of older properties. Newer ones usually have wall-mounted thermostats. That said, the room itself looked recently remodeled and was generally comfortable. The only real negative was the desk chair, which had several tears exposing the cushion underneath and definitely needed replacing. We didn't use most of the hotel's amenities, but there is a breakfast area ($15 per person) and a small bar, neither of which looked busy when we passed by. The property also has an indoor pool and fitness area. Overall, this was an adequate and reasonably comfortable stay, and we were satisfied with our choice.

I book DT for the free cookie.... Delicious. The rooms did its job. Please come and create your own adventure.

    Hair in the bed, Gross

I have no words! Stay at your own risk I was already worried about staying at this hotel but I wanted to be close to my daughter. I walked into the room it smelled bad. The floor is something you can't even walk on; how any hotel could stay open with carpets as disgusting and stained as these were beyond me. I had to leave my tennis shoes on the floors are so gross, dirty, and sticky. When I finally decide to get into the bed, I pull back the blankets and a little bug of some kind ran across the bed like a ant or I don't know what bedbugs look like and then there were little black hairs all in the bed. Absolutely disgusting then they've moved my room. The floors are still just as gross. The quality of the bed is horrible. I could only imagine what has slept on these pillows or the last time they've ever been cleaned they're flat and gross. I don't wanna look inside them to see how stained they are, but I could only imagine. I just need to get out of here and then I can't even work so they're costing me money with no Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is down which would've been nice if they told me that upon check-in perhaps I wouldn't be sitting in a room at 10 o'clock at night and I could've made other arrangements. Epic fail, this place Hilton should be ashamed of themselves for staying open under these conditions.

Was in town for work and stayed here. The hotel was very clean and the employees friendly. I had a room with 2 queen beds. The room was spacious and included a couch for sitting to watch tv. The property had a restaurant, bar, fitness center, pool, hot tub and laundry room. The bonus is the hot cookie at check in. Highly recommend.

    bed sheet stain

Got in the room - I always check bed cleanliness first. Noticed 2 hairs. 1 on the pillow, another on the fitted sheet. Immediately disgusted. Asked for new sheets. They comp'd our $10 parking in a tiny parking lot. Pulled back the sheets to change them. Noticed a massive dried stain with yellow edges on the top sheet about the size of my hand. More disgusted. Threw everything off the bed and grabbed backup blankets from my car. When we checked out, they did nothing other than to inquire about who made the bed. Used my 22k Hilton points to pay for part of this room. Very disappointed this was my experience. I hate this hotel and do not recommend it to others. It's under construction and lacks appropriate parking as well.

    Hair on shower wall

Mid shower I noticed several hairs from the previous guest. I called the front desk and had the management come in to see. They apologized but offered ZERO compensation. The staff was inexperienced and clueless to say the least. I have several pictures. Gross!

Checking in at the Doubletree = FREE WARM COOKIES

Enjoyed my two nights here! Older hotel but has been updated over the years and is very clean. Checked in using my mobile app and it let me pick my room and floor I stayed on. Bottled water and warm cookies given on check in. Big room with a king size bed (mattress very soft) and living are with couch and desk. Exercise room is tiny and has little air flow (and no a/c). They have a little fan in the room that I used. They have charging stations for electric cars but need to designate them for electric car parking only, idiots without electric cars were parked in the spot. Located near the freeway and restaurant options not far away.

    Batter UP!!!

Terrible experience. First, they're remodeling so the floors in the halls are covered with plastic tarp like on grandma's davenport. Pool was out of order. In the room, we found one bed wedged again the AC unit. The windows were filthy and the screen was hanging loose in one corner. The wall and floor were speckled with something. Maybe food, maybe worse. The lampshade was cracked and broken, and there was blood on the sheets. This is supposed to be a premium property, but I've seen better in a Motel 6.

Pretty Rough for $180 A Night! How Is This A Hilton? Great service from Bretta at the front desk at check in, super polite and friendly! Things started great there.... so 1 star more than I would have given for the quality/price ratio we experienced. The older lady was great at checkout as well! Otherwise this place would earn a solitary star! $180/Night makes no sense for how rough this place is! This place should be a $69 per night roadside spot and it would make more sense. We booked the room because of the Hilton name and wow, let down. This place is pretty rough and in a shady, I would add dangerous area off the interstate overrun by actual villages of dozens of homeless tents in many directions, under the bridges, along the roads and all over! What happened to beautiful Oregon!?! How is this a Hilton? Hallway smelled like poop Garbage cans were overflowing at the front door The pool is out of order Old squeaky spring mattress, not so great for happy sleeping Lamp electrical broken Weird old crappy pillows Shower floor was not likely washed as I almost fell in the slippery scum! Near painful fall! Cracked Up Door No working exhaust fan in bathroom! I've Machine on second floor broken, no bags for ice bucket either... Old Rough Couch! No breakfasts in the huge breakfast room, but they will give you a juice box and some snacks for $6... No thanks... Rooms are so ok'd they don't have phone charging outlets so bring your wall plug ins... They charge $7 for parking apparently to cover the guard since it's a rough neighborhood! Lol All in all we were tired, it was late and we just accepted our fate and went to sleep for 1 night before our escape!

Taken from the parking lot. Neighbors.

My room was far larger than expected, and was very well-equipped. In addition to all the standards (in-room refrigerator, microwave, etc.) was a white noise (and others) machine to assist with sleep (one minor gripe is that the sound isolation between rooms isn't terribly great), and a wall-mounted thermostat for the air conditioner and heat. One very thoughtful touch was two bottles of water, free of charge, already in my room upon arrival. Staff was incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly. My room was immaculate, and there were no signs of wear on anything nor neglected repairs. Complimentary breakfast was better than most. The mains also vary from day to day. There is a separate waffle station from the main hot dishes, and it features pastries that were far better than most, which was a really pleasant surprise. The covered parking garage is TIGHT, and is shared with the in-hotel restaurant (Bentley's), and the Salem Convention Center, so it can get crowded. There are two "Blink" EV charging stations, which is appreciated.

I was checked in quickly by Scott, given a rundown of how things operate such as breakfast, where the elevators are at, the onsite restaurant operating hours, and parking info. Upon entering my room, I found it to be clean and cool. The room also has a coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave. The hallways where the rooms are at are kept warmer at about 80 degrees. That is my one complaint. During my stay, it was hot outside and coming i to the hotel, it was cool, but going through the hallways to my room was hot. Breakfast is free and actually good! I couldn't wait for the breakfast because I liked it and I'm not usually a breakfast foods person. The hotel has an exercise room, pool, and hot tub open from 5:30am - 10pm. Many times I visited, the hot tub and pool were empty, leaving me to have a quiet, peaceful soak. I'm early to rise and Anjelica was also wonderful. I needed more coffee at 5am and she was at my service. She didn't come off as if I was bothering her. Offered me different types of coffee and asked me which condiments I needed. That's when I found out that there was also coffee and creamer in the lobby. Anjelica gave me a bag to carry all of my items upstairs. The hotel lobby store has items priced about average for a hotel, maybe slightly cheaper. One thing that caught my eye was the small bottles of distilled cpap water. The bottles were only $3. I've never seen that anywhere while traveling. Parking is free and easy to get to. The hotel is decorated beautifully. I throughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel restaurant is good and I left a review for them as well as the convention center. The value for the prices paid is really good! I will definitely stay here again, when I'm in Salem.

The receptionist put me in a far away room on one end of the building on the second floor when I asked for a high floor room by the elevator/lobby. Before I got to my room I was disappointed. I went back and had to wait a bit before I got helped. However, she switched me to a close room near the pool. I actually loved this room. Even though it was close to the pool, it was super quiet, recently remodeled, and convient to the breakfast room. They had sugar and peanut butter cookies at checkin with coffee and the breakfast was good. They even had grapes at breakfast too and a variety of food selections. They would switch the offerings so sometimes there was sausage other days bacon - and some days we had scrambled eggs and other days it was boiled and fried. Some days they had bagels other days they had English muffins. Lots of variety. I liked that they had a small little book and game library near the lobby too plus a variety of tourist literature. The place was cozy and felt like a small apartment. I had housekeeping one day, but not the others. I would have tipped to have housekeeping every day, but that didn't happen and i wasn't expecting it. I also had a bit of trouble getting recognized as a Choice reward member because my work made the reservation, but I did get things fixed. It's in a quiet business/medical cul-de-sac close to the freeway, but the rooms were quiet and the place had everything essential for a good stay. It's close to a pretty man-made lake. I stopped to see the geese and visit the bakery cupcake and cookie place nearby. It's a great value for what you get. I would stay here again.
