We had an amazing experience at La Quinta! Juliana that checked us in was so kind and so efficient and she even let me store my special ice packs for my medication in their freezer. We have been traveling on the road for hours. We were exhausted we had our kid and two cats and this place made us feel so much better! I came to check in. Everything was paid for in advance. I have the receipts. They confirmed that they know everything was paid in advance. Yet they won't check me in. They're holding onto my ID and my credit card. I've been waiting in the lobby now for over 10 minutes. I needed to stop and use the restroom. They told me to use one in the lobby, which had shit in it. Somebody peed on the floor and there was no toilet paper. This place is a complete dump. they're incompetent and I'm still waiting for the room. I already paid for. read more

We stayed here during a road trip and really wanted to like this place especially because the front desk manager was very kind and welcoming. She genuinely tried to help us find the best room possible, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the rooms just didn't meet our expectations. We were shown a few different options, but each one had visible mold in the bathrooms, and the furniture layout was cramped and awkward, making the rooms feel tight and uncomfortable. For a chain like Wyndham, that was surprising and disappointing. When we first pulled up, the staff was outside chatting and didn't acknowledge us right away. Not a huge issue, but it didn't leave the best first impression either. In the end, the manager's effort was the highlight of our experience, but the condition of the rooms made this a one-time stay for us. read more

I had a pretty good stay here. The overall facility seems to be well kept and presentable. Very decent spot with modest decor and design elements throughout. I'm bummed I didn't get to check out the fitness center but peeking through the door windows, I caught a tiny glimpse of it across the swimming pool indoor space. I'll have to check out the rest of the amenities some other time. It was super busy and various scents could be picked up throughout the hallways; I didn't think much of them. The whole process was fairly cordial and friendly, including the various staff I spoke with over the phone and in person. They also have longer than average options for extended check out times if you're willing to pay extra fees. I was able to check out as late as 3p which worked out great for my visit. The room was very decent. No strong scents. Just pretty nice. If you looked closely, you may notice some broad and scattered "wear & tear" but it was nothing distracting to me. Like another reviewer we often stay at La Quinta due to its (generally) predictable quality. When we arrived at 11 pm the night clerk was gone - when they returned their demeanor was odd - no greeting, flat affect, almost had the feel of being put out at our presence but not quite. I attributed it to the trend that nighttime employees are often a little different...the entire interaction was just off putting. As we step out of the elevator the hallway has a lingering odor of cigarette smoke, dirty and an unsuccessful cleaning attempt to deal with the odor. We get to our room which is like stepping into a sauna - hot, musty and humid but was quickly dealt with by turning on the air conditioning and opening the window to get fresh air in (it was cool night). Then the bathroom...shower mat covered in hair, hair on the walls of the tub and generally dirty - but that wasn't the best part of the stay... The best part was the smoke detector battery starts going off at 3am - and it isn't the slight beep like on a home detector - but a loud, obnoxious beep that could not be ignored. Almost a sleepless night - what sleep that was had was out of pure exhaustion. With the overall lack of attention to so many things it's not surprising that the staff would fail to change the batteries in their smoke detectors on a regular basis despite just about every fire department in the nation reminding everyone, every year, to change out the batteries in your smoke detectors twice annually to ensure they work... If this were some mom and pop hotel off the beaten tracks with low occupancies and few resources I might give them 2/5 stars - but this is an established chain with Wyndham's name....the fact that they can't reliably clean the general facility including the bathrooms (not just my experience - but a trend based on other reviews) but they also don't seem to have a routine maintenance schedule that includes maintaining the smoke alarm battery replacement. This isn't just an inconvenience, but a safety issue that has no excuse for being overlooked. Do yourself a favor - keep driving and find somewhere else. This is the worst experience, people do not sleep here, do not stay here , people must be on drugs because they are up all night with the tvs full blast. Update: went to the front desk, they really worked with us and tried to make things right. They moved us to another room which is a lot quieter and a much better experience. After we settled in our room we noticed a lot of dirty hair and dust all over the floor. It was getting on our bed with our socks and the pillows/mattress are so cheap and uncomfortable. Called front office to ask if someone can please come sweep and clean the floors and the check in person said she was the only one here. Expensive for one night only for the room to be dirty and bed/ pillows be so uncomfortable. We barely got any sleep because of how uncomfortable the beds are and so NOISY when you barely move they squeak so loud. What a waste of money. Very disappointed. We got the spa room and it was disappointing... the spa tub is a tub shower and very shallow and dirty. We have stayed and less expensive hotel chains that had better layout and spa rooms for less money. I would not recommend if your looking for s romantic room... it's a small and cramp room even for one night... our toilet Became logged and my husband had to get a plunger because the front desk said there was no maintenance staff... what a waste of money The reason they got one star is that they did accept my comfort animals (cat) while relocating so she did not stay in a cold car.... this was our first stay at at La Quinta and the last. We called and booked a room for one night. When we walked in the Inn we noticed a bad smell. After we got out room key and went to the 4th floor, there is a very strong smell of WEED in the hallway. our room had NO table and very poor lighting. The TV kept going in and out. This hotel was an alright stay. We had a big shower, very comfortable bed, a clean room, and very good breakfast. The lighting in the bathroom mirror was great. The room was nice and felt updated. But, We tried to check in a few hours early and they said our rooms just got done being cleaned but would be a $35 charge checking in early so we waited a little bit more and then checked in. Front desk lady just took forever to check us in. Sketchy parking, hardly any parking too. Tweakers outside on both sides of hotel. The floor was NASTY in the hallway. Like so gross. They had no extra blankets so I was freezing. The shower had nothing to put your products on so you had to put them on the ground which kind of sucked. The lighting in the hallway was so dark and like creepy feeling. No natural light. Our room had no main light just a bathroom light and 2 lights on both sides of the bed and a floor lamp. It was so dark in there and there was no light by the tall mirror so it was super weird. The room also just felt so tight and small. The pool was closed.... Very upsetting because I like to book a hotel with a pool and they said it was closed due to a small hole in one of the pool steps and a kid cut his toe on it. So stupid and they should get it fixed asap to reopen it. She said it probably won't be open for the next 2 weeks as their maintenance guy was out. I think we should have gotten an email or a notice that the pool was closed so we could find a different hotel. Not great service at all. Another huge thing was that our air conditioner smelled so bad that we had to turn it off and open a window. Later that night I get woken up at 1:30am due to this crazy chick yelling at her boyfriend outside the hotel in the bushes next to a creek behind the hotel. She's going off on him and it was escalating to where I had to call the cops. So annoying. So don't really recommend this hotel at all but if you're just looking for a comfy bed and good breakfast and don't care about any of that^ than I would stay here. read more

Honestly idk y this hotel doesn't have more stars!! We loved this hotel, super nice and friendly staff!! Gave us our extra hotels at check in as requested online. They still served breakfast even with covid (which hardly any hotel is doing, just some are and some are just giving muffins, other not even coffee!!) So we definitely were happy we got food and good food! We has waffles , eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, orange juice and coffee.....it was nice, hot and delicious. We had our kids and my son needed milk for his cereal and instead of me or my husband having to run out to the store/gas station the front desk asked if we needed anything and guess what....had milk and gave us 2 cartons, they said "here one for now and if ur son needs one for the morning!" My husband and I couldn't have been more impressed and happy with our visit and stay. It smelled clean, it looked clean, it was great!! We appreciate your guys staff and because of this experience the rest of our trip we tried sticking with La Quinta as our hotel! read more

Horrible stay, the staff is completely rude and tries to blame you for anything they can. They charged us $150 for a couple towels that got dirty, then explain that they are high end hotel which is why they are able to charge for dirty towels, which we are not there were homeless people all in the parking lot all night around people's cars and they were in a terrible location in a dirty part of Salem. I do not recommend anyone stay here the motel 6 across town is better than this place. read more

We had to get out of our house for a few days while our cabinets were being painted and the La Quinta was the only place in Salem I could find that accepted cats. We were very happy to find this out. The hotel was very nice: the lobby and rooms very clean, extremely comfortable beds, good WiFi. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was awesome!! It was a hot buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage, two types of waffle makers, biscuits and gravy and of course all the usual pastries, fruit, yogurt etc. This is very conveniently located next to a Costco, Denny's across the street and numerous restaurants and fast food within a mile or two. It's also right off the freeway We did not encounter any issues with homeless that I had read about in other reviews and parking was always available. We didn't use the pool but we saw others heading in. I'd highly recommend and definitely stay again! read more

I feel comfortable here. The carpet looks dirty but the beds and bathroom are sparkling. I think they have a homeless problem. There was a new fence to prevent homeless hanging in the parking lot, although they still do, they just walk around. Very little supervision of who comes into the hotel. I was engaged in a conversation in the parking lot. A person wanted to pet my dog and know the name. They followed me in closely, appearing to the front desk to be with me but staff barely looked up. When followed to the elevator, I detoured. People seem to use this parking lot who live in and out of their car. Some sleep in their car. The parking lot has no cameras. In around 2018 our car was hit. Someone in the lot backed into our car at night time. Still, I feel comfortable here. Be cautious though of the parking lot. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to staying at this hotel. My wife's brother had passed away unexpectedly and we traveled to Oregon for the funeral. I booked my stay via the Wyndham website for two nights at the La Quinta in Salem. The room was ok, but the carpets in the hallway were filthy and lights were broken in our room. We notified the hotel staff but nobody ever came to fix the lights. We were also told there were two TVs in the room but there was only one. Not a big deal because we weren't really there for vacation or anything. During the funeral I got a phone call and the person from the hotel was rude and talking to me in a raised voice saying they went to clean our room but our bags were still there. I said we were staying for two nights but they said they had received a confirmation for only one night. So I had to stay on the phone for 90 min while they sorted it out between Wyndham customer support and the front desk. I asked if they could just sort it out and send me an email as I needed to get back to my family for the services, but they said I had to remain on the line. It was really bad that I had to miss that 90 min and was quite angry. I then filed a complaint with Wyndham and sent about four follow up emails. I finally called customer service again (1 month later) and they said they refunded one night's stay. I asked why I was never contacted, they said they didn't know. I asked if they received all of my emails, they said yes, but they didn't know why nobody responded to my emails. Overall a very disappointing and upsetting experience. To top it all off, in the Wyndham Loyalty Rewards Program I am at the Diamond level, the highest they have. If this is how La Quinta treat their "Diamond" customers, I'd hate to see how they treat their "regular" guests. read more

A spot in front of ac feels like you will fall through the floor. Can't use the pool covid 19 so only those with a pool reservation can use it and they are all booked. Traveling with person with medical needs and water was shut off with no warning in the morning. No plan for compensation at the desk in the morning. No toilets in the hotel, no shower, no breakfast, and this hotel manager who I had to speak with on the phone would not comp the room. Incredible!!! Crackers on the ground which means the room was not vacuumed, pee stains on the toilet, picture provided below for all to see AND mold. So disgusting. There's no central air so unless you're in the room it's unbearably hot and muggy. Then in the morning we woke up to no water. We called down and it was hotel wide they said it would be about 30mins and would call. An hour went by no call. We went down stairs after not being able to shower or brush teeth or even use the restroom. There was no apology or any kind of compensation just that it might be back up soon. I stayed for two nights (Sunday Night Check in/Tuesday check out.) I really like this hotel. The room was clean and quiet. The property was nice. The staff was friendly, check in was smooth. I got a great deal on Priceline (my room was next to the ice machine (which means I could pop out and get ice whenever, and didn't have to worry about the volume on my tv.), It was surprisingly quiet for being next to ice machine. My friend who came up to check out the room pointed out the super high ceilings, The front desk called to check if the room was okay. Housekeeping did a great job and was friendly. When I wasn't sure if my friend would be able to pick me up by 12 PM checkout, the front desk said I could stay until 1 PM, which was very considerate. There is a candy machine, soda machine and ice machine, all nearby. There was a nice flat screen tv. Also, Pergo floors in the bathroom. It was unusual and I liked that (the floor wasn't so cold.) If I had one complaint, it would be the coffee maker. It had something like a thermos type carafe, which didn't seem to work well. I would stay at LaQuinta Inn and Suites and recommend it to anyone. read more
