We don't order pizza often but when we do, it's always from Dough Bros. And we're always been pleased.... Until last night. Very disappointed!!! I don't believe my order was complex but, I like my pizza the way I like it. I'm particular about it... I like extra sauce, easy cheese & well done. We ordered a 12" pick 5 While it had the toppings requested, I ALWAYS ask for extra sauce & it barely had any at all. Like literally NONE. Almost as if I said easy or no sauce- which my receipt shows I did not. It was extremely dry & flavorless as I also always request slightly well done. One piece for us both (in fact it was 2 bites for me) removed the toppings to see a couple specs of red & in the trash it went. Not sure what's going on in the unit at the end of the strip, but it was a madhouse & made parking a bit of a challenge... I probably would've opted for delivery had I known that. However!!! I WILL say the checkout/pick up process once made it in, was smooth, fast & the staff was friendly. You'll see by my reviews, I'm NOT a repeat constant bad reviewer. I personally always check out reviews before trying somewhere & when I see negative ones... I'll click on that person & when I see NOTHING but bad reviews- I take those reviews with a grain of salt because the person obviously is never happy & has nothing good to say about anything... I was looking for a new place to grab dinner, and this one caught my eye. Since I was in the area, I ordered and stopped in. First off, carry out only at this location. If you want to dine in, go to their Elburn location. I was looking for a pizza with everything - I got their healthy choice, and substituted sausage for the spinach, and then added pepperoni. Good choice! I was driving the pizza 30 minutes home, so I know it came right out of the oven steaming hot, and was reasonably hot after driving in my car for 30 minutes or so to get home. To be honest, the pizza was actually very good. The crust was good, there were plenty of toppings, and it had good sauce and lots of cheese. For price, you get what you pay for. This isn't one of those chain restaurants - it has people who hand make pies and do a good job of it. I was out the door for $31.50 for a large pizza. Is this place for you? Well, do you like good pizza? If you do, pay your money and enjoy some. Also, if you see someone go into the back door, you might see their Christopher Walken Cooler - complete with his picture on the door. Not great. Fundraiser, so they were busy. However, 40min wait b/c of a fundraiser. Great. Nice community involvement, but be staffed and prepared and don't let quality suffer. We've been before and we're happy. But this trip stunk! Regular crust overcooked and brown/burnt on top. Thick crust overcooked with very inconsistent sauce. 1/4 of beer nuggets were overcooked chunks. $65 was a little much on sub-,sub-par pizza. read more

Short review. Had take out when we were at Whiskey Acres. Ordered ahead and picked up. Pizza was hot, fresh and delicious. Good blend of sauce, cheese, and sausage. Nothing overwhelmed one flavor or another. Crust held up nicely and not overly greasy. Perfect for what we needed. read more

Cheese If you like pizza, most likely you love cheese... To me they go hand in hand. Of course there are people that don't like cheese or can't eat cheese, so they make cheese free or cheese alternatives. I ordered a cheese calzone which is basically a pizza sandwich. If you like pizza a calzone can be picked up like a sandwich and is mostly stuffed with cheese. At this point you can see I keep mentioning cheese which is the basis for my review and 4 stars instead of 5. I paid $1.50 for extra cheese for a cheese calzone that should already have cheese inside. You may have guessed it, but I LOVE CHEESE! So I paid for extra cheese to ensure I was getting a calzone stuffed with cheese. There really wasn't much cheese at all, certainly not extra cheese. That said if I hadn't paid for extra cheese I'm not sure if there would have been any cheese. If I pay for extra cheese I want to see a lot of cheese and have it oozing out of the calzone as I bite into it. I've been getting calzones at many other restaurants and I've never had to complain about the amount of cheese, so I don't think I'm being unreasonable. I'm giving 4 stars because of the lack of cheese, but not less than 4 because I thought overall the food tasted good and good quality. It's definitely worth checking this place out.... Always good! I picked up a large Pepperoni, onion, and Green Pepper. It was great, with tons of toppings. Nothing I hate more then ordering a topping and there's 1 small piece of said topping on each slice. Beer nuggets are good also with cheese dipping sauce. read more

Ordered an individual size pizza that was mediocre at best, almost inedible. Cheese, olives fresh garlic. The cheese was barely noticeable and flavorless, nowhere close to the edges. Was a hint of the garlic but not much and not a crushed garlic. Crust at edges was very overdone and as hard as a pretzel. I have been ordering here for 12 years and it was always very good but this was very disappointing like they put minimum toppings and making a cheaper product. I have had better frozen pizzas and from other restaurants. UPDATE: My compliments to the owner who contacted me by email, apologized for the bad pizza and offered me a credit. It is rare that a business will take such measures and I give them credit. Dough Brothers is back on my "A" list. read more

It was my first time ordering from Dough Brothers. We got a 16" Sausage, thin crust with garlic butter on the crust. It.was.amazing. I can't tell you the last time my husband and I finished off a pizza but we had an empty box by the end of dinner. I think it's there sauce that really made the pizza. It's definitely a bit different than most but SO good. I'll definitely be ordering again and I hear they also have a cauliflower crust pizza so I will definitely be trying that! read more

I've had this pizza a few times now and honestly, each time it's a bit different. This particular review is for the pan pizza with pepperoni and garlic I just had. First the good, it's a lot of pizza for your money. This 14" pie was super heavy and comfortably fed a few people. It was square cut, which was unexpected but not in a bad way. The pepperoni was greasy with a good taste, and being cooked on top of the pie gave it a nice, crispy edge. The edges of the crust were nicely crisped, too. Gave the whole pizza a nice crunch to it. Pretty rare for a pie of this depth. The not so good? Maybe nitpicky here but I thought the garlic was a bit over powering. I like garlic quite a bit, but this even made me pause. My bigger gripe was what I thought was a lack of mozzarella on top. I read the reviews here and people faulted them for too much cheese, but for a pan pizza I was hoping for more. All in all, it's a substantial pie and I wouldn't hesitate to order again. I would probably rethink the toppings though. read more

If you are looking for a pizza other than Giordanos, this would be my next pick. They deliver to DeKalb which is a far delivery from Courtland but it's worth the wait. It's a decent pizza joint that has good thin crust pizza. The toppings don't slide off the crust when you bite into it! The crust is thin and crispy! The only reason why I had to rate it a 4 was because it took more than an hour to get my delivery but I always call Dough Brothers if I'm craving that thin crust. read more

Very Impressed ! I see this place every time I drive through Cortland, but never tried it. Growing disappointed with so many of the DeKalb pizza places, and seeing all the positive reviews about this place on Yelp, I thought I'd give it a try. Tastes Great ! Lots of tasty ingredients. The Italian sausage was the kind I like but never seem to find. Great spices. I'm on the south side of DeKalb so it was a quick shot to get over there, gas up with cheap Cortland gasoline, and pick up my pizza. It stayed piping hot in my thermo bag. Why did I wait so long to try this place? I noticed a lot of pick ups for other items on the menu, too, so will have to give them a try. read more

I grew up eating Chicago pizza. I have had the vast majority of the staple pizza joints in Chicago and the surrounding area. With all that being said, this ranks up with the best of them. Wasn't expecting much from a place that is frankly in the middle of no where, but I was pleasently surprised. I ordered a Chicago style pizza and when I went there to pick it up, it was heavier than I expected. They are so generous with the toppings, I was in heaven. It was so filling and beyond delicious that I savored every last bite. Sauce was to die for and toppings were fresh. I am looking forward to trying their thin crust and double decker pizza! Pizza here is fantastic. We have found that the difference between the normal dough and double dough pizza is negligible, so save the extra few bucks. Otherwise the sauce is excellent, and the pizza is far superior to any of the major pizza brands. Other menu items are hit or miss, and I was not impressed with the portion sizes of the appetizers. But all in all, I order from the joint at least 3 times a month and love the pizza. It should be noted that the dining room is closed, so this joint is carry out or delivery only. read more
