It's been on our list, so we tried it last Saturday. We were greeted and seated promptly. The seats and tables are comfortable. There is a bar area with a flat screen TV set, and there was a good crowd at the bar when we arrived. Our server passed out the menus, which took a minute to take in. Do we go with a cocktail, or wine? We decided to go with red wine. For the wine, we went with two different glasses (one for each, but we shared). My wife went with the A & D Merlot, which was very bright with a surprisingly smooth finish. I went for the Ivory & Burt Cabernet, which was a good cabernet. The charcuterie is named, so we went with The Frank. It came with a good selection of sausages, cheeses, and mustard, along with dried blueberries, dried plums, and crackers. The selection and flavors worked well with the red wines we had selected, and the wines did a nice job of clearing the palate before we dove in on another cheese or sausage. I noticed they had a wine club - you can sign up for $35 a month (month by month charge, cancel anytime). If you are a wine club member, you get 20% off your purchases. We joined on the spot, got 20% off our ticket, and the two bottles of wine from this month. This isn't your usual DeKalb bar. This is a nice place with solid service. The art on the walls in some cases is for sale, and the owner's personally curated wines for sale are stocked on the back wall. We wrapped up with desserts - my wife had their Chocolate Mousse, and I had their Strawberry Cheesecake - these are served in small glasses, and are just perfect for finishing up. If you are looking for an interesting place to visit, this is a place you NEED to visit.

We have been twice in the past week and the food is outstanding! The staff have treated us like family and the restaurant is super inviting and "homey." We have found that many of the Italian restaurants in the area have catered to an Americanized palate by adding heavy sauces or too much cheese to dishes that do not need it. However, this is not true of Maria's Little Italy! The food here is authentic and made with care. The ingredients are also of high quality: from the beef being locally raised on the family's farm to even the sun-dried tomatoes being made on their farm. My only criticism is that I wish they had kept a regular pasta menu rather than moving to only having daily pasta specials. But hopefully in time, and as the community comes to recognize this wonderful new restaurant, they will be able to add more pasta back to their regular menu! read more

This place is fantastic. From the food to the service. Authentic Italian food, all homemade prepared by Italians! It doesn't get better than this, pasta specials are all so good. The panzarotti are the best I have ever had and the focaccia bread is out of this world, definitely worth the 90 min wait! Order ahead and get there to eat it hot, one of the best things I have experienced! This may be one of the most authentic Italian meals I've had. It is very easy to tell that everything is made from scratch and absolutely delicious. my husband and I tried several items. bruschetta, which was very nicely plated w/ excellent balsamic glaze. the panzerotti...to die for. it was buttery, flakey and HUGE. we also got a Panini to share which was very delicious as well. Maria's Little Italy is a new restaurant in the Dekalb - Sycamore area. It is off of Sycamore Road north on Bethany Road behind the bank. My wife and I had lunch there September 2019. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived hot and well presented. This is not a fast food place or a pizza parlor - real Italian cooking at moderate price. We really enjoyed our meal - and took some home for dinner! A cozy place with fresh modern decor. We highly recommend Maria's. read more

I have been looking for an Italian restaurant in this area for a while now, and Maria's little Italy definitely hit the spot! I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese pasta, that came with a salad and homemade bread. I also had an order of their dough bites and brushetta! The brushetta was the best I've ever tasted! We love Maria's so much!! I can not say enough good thing about this quaint little gem we have in town now. It feel like you are stepping into a little cafe in Italy!! Lord, where to start…read more... The reviews were mixed at best, but we haven't been here in a while so we figured we'd give it another chance. Walking in and seeing new trim around the windows - okay, good sign. Also seeing a paint can on a table....? Okay, not a good sign. We decided to try this place again because we saw a sizzling steak on their roadside reader board as we drove back into town from the south. The last few times we went here, it was sandwiches only, so maybe the new owners were moving to the next level? Inside, you see a sign Salt 7. The bill reads C.C.S. Golf LLC. The menu - Salt 251. Confused yet? We ordered their Lobster Dip Appetizer. The photo only shows half of it. My wife said "I couldn't find any Lobster in it." Neither could I. It was tasty, but if you say Lobster Dip, shouldn't you find some Lobster in it? From there, we waited. And waited. And waited. And finally, the waitress / bartender who was working the restaurant by herself (while the two owners were doing something else) stopped by and took our drink and entrée orders. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife ordered a Gin Martini. The combination waitress / bartender admitted she had to look that one up. Both drinks were okay, I've had better Manhattans. For entrees, my wife ordered their Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I had their 8 ounce Garlic Sirloin. This took a fair amount of time, around 20 minutes to plate. Both dishes came with a nice, fresh salad, with dressing in a small cup on the side. Given the size of the salad, they needed to provide more dressing. I was scraping the rest of it out of the small plastic serving cup. On to the entrees: Shrimp Scampi That's a pretty regular dish - grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and white wine and served in that sauce. The grilled shrimp was there with some seasoning, but the rest which makes it Scampi wasn't there. Plus, the fresh vegetables were in a teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and of course didn't blend well with the Shrimp and it's seasoning. It came with a baked potato that my wife said "It must have had a bad spot - a chunk was missing. Whaaaaatttt? Never had that in all the baked potatoes we have had. Not a good first. I was there for the steak, so I ordered their 8 ounce garlic sirloin, medium rare. That should be a warm, red center. I could see the garlic on the sirloin - but the steak was well-done. Gray, hot, chewy (chewy chewy), and I had to use steak sauce to make it palatable. Now two people who we think were the owners come by (they didn't introduce themselves) and ask is everything okay, of course we do what everyone does, we fib - yes, everything's fine. They apparently don't watch Bar Rescue - their combination bartender / waitress could have used some help serving or covering the bar, but nope, she didn't get any help. She didn't complain, she just did her best. I did order their Tuxedo Bomb Dessert, which was actually pretty good. A slice of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate mousse, covered with vanilla mousse, with a chocolate coating drizzled in vanilla icing with some whipped cream. It was the best part of the dinner. Of course, I failed to get a picture of that. Argh.

Sam was serving our party AND other customers in the restaurant, and the bartender was also responsible for our group and the rest of the restaurant. It took approximately 45 minutes for everyone at our rehearsal dinner to receive their first drink. The staff was stretched so thin that I found myself putting food out and bussing tables during my son's rehearsal dinner. When we arrived, there weren't even enough tables and chairs set up for our guests, so our family helped set those up as well. What was especially frustrating is that we paid an additional fee for an event coordinator, as well as a fee to use the space. I'm still unclear about what those fees actually provided. I would have expected an event coordinator to make sure the space was ready, adequate staff was scheduled, and the event ran smoothly. That was not our experience. I initially chose not to leave a public review because I wanted to give management the opportunity to address my concerns directly. I emailed them after the event explaining our experience and received no response. I resent the email twice and still received no acknowledgment or response. That lack of communication is ultimately what prompted me to share our experience publicly. Again, the food was excellent and Sam and Brooke deserve recognition for working so hard. But for a special event that included additional charges for the space and event coordination, I expected a much higher level of planning, staffing, service, and follow-up.

Outdoor seating as well as indoor seating was available, seat yourself style. We sat inside. The noise level was not loud at all. Perfect for table conversations. The menu had too many tasty sounding items. I chose the Fatty Melt with the Cajun Fried Potato Salad and Coleslaw. My wife had the Chicken Club Wrap with Onion rings and Beans (for me). The little had the 2 mini sliders with fries. Being family we share the sides and the onion rings were a hit. The number one treat in my book was the Cajun Fried Potato Salad. The bean had a good smoky flavor to them. Last but not least our server should get top billing in the review. Jordan did a fantastic job accommodating our requests and took the time to answer questions without feeling rushed. She made us feel more like a friend than a patron. Hats off to you Jorden! Thanks for making our visit enjoyable.

Honestly, why drive all the way to Ladd when you can get the same delicious chicken right here in Rochelle?
