Everyone in Sycamore is calling Sam's pizza tonight! I can see how some people many get a little upset about the lead time for their order. They told me 1 hour for pickup. I waited an extra 30 minutes for my order. While I was there waiting for my food at Sam's the phone rang off the hook! Order after Order! They could double the size of their place and still not reduce the lead time! The pizza was the best I have had in Sycamore. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza! The sauce was really good along with the rest of the pizza! Absolutely enjoyable meal! I recommend Sam's and please be patient with them they really care and work really hard to provide YOU with great pizza! We've gotten pizza from here twice. Both times carry out orders. Ordered both thin crust and stuffed. First time they said it would be ready in an hour. About 1 1/4 hours later we got there only to find that they hadn't even started part of our order. Waited more than a half hour more before our order was ready. The second time we ordered, they said it would be an hour and a half. My wife and brother-in-law went to get the order: three thin crust pizza and wings. They waited for more than the specified time them went and again our order wasn't ready. Took another 20 minutes before the order was ready. It would be worth the wait if the pizza was special but really it is not. Sausage and pepperoni aren't particularly flavorful. They chop their onions rather than thin slices. Mushrooms weren't necessarily the freshest. Taste overall was average at best. Won't be ordering from here ever again. read more

What can I say, as far as pizza goes in DeKalb County, Sam's sets the standard. Place has been there for decades and, unlike other places an have happen, it is extremely clean, including the kitchen you can see from the counter. You can order just about any pizza you can imagine from the extremely friendly staff/owner. This includes a Keto friendly cauliflower crust. My boyfriend and I were in the area so we decided to stop here and eat. We are from Chicago so we didn't expect the pizza to be great from the suburbs. We ordered to dine in, a 14 inch half sausage half pepperoni. He said it would be about 20 minutes, it took about an hour, no apologies or anything. I understand it's a Saturday evening but a simple "sorry it took so long" goes a long way. The pizza was decent not bad but not great. Filled with neon orange booths that look like they were transported from a 1981 McDonalds. Awesome. The pizza maker behind the counter is Sam's son, direct from Italy. I struck up a conversation with him and learned that he has been making pizza there for 37 years. THIRTY SEVEN YEARS. That alone is reason to visit!! The menu is small, but the pizza is great. This was the first time I ordered from Sam's Pizza and thought the pizza was great. It is the best pizza I have had in the Dekalb/Sycamore area since I moved here 5 years ago. The thin crust was perfect and the amount of cheese was just how I like it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of two things. I was told that delivery would be around 40 mins and it took almost 90 mins for my pizza to arrive. I do not have a problem waiting as long as they give me an accurate time. The nice thing is that the food was hot when it arrived. I also ordered bread-sticks and they did bring them. Normally with the forgot bread-sticks and long delivery time I would put this on my no go list, but the pizza was great and will order again. read more

I've began wondering about this pizzeria as I often pass it to and from one of my New Glarus beer hauls. Ordered a stuffed pizza to go, which had a 55 minute wait, which didn't bother me as I figured that it must be pretty good. Walked in and encountered a friendly grey-haired man making dough, who had a pleasant aura and demeanor about him. Pizza was pretty good, even though the flavor was rather light as I really never had a stuffed pizza wasn't either too cheesy or had too much sauce, this had an equal balance of both. We ordered a pizza( on the busiest night of the year) and it took 1 1/2hrs to get it in my car, they stated pick up would be an hour and delivery would be about 2-3, pick up it was. 1hr later we pulled up and sent my kid in with $. 25 minutes later they had not comeback, so I went in and saw him paying, then heard them talking and saw them making the pizza watched it bake and was waiting for a simple we missed it or a sorry(nothing free or money off) but it never came. much can be fixed with that one simple word, lawsuits have been stopped by "sorry". If you are looking for a well made large Pizza for under $15, Then Sam's is the place for you. Even though it isn't a deep dish pie, it is a real, homemade Chicago style Pizza. Sam's does use quality ingredients with an exceptionally good sauce and cheese. During my visit, there was only one guy running the entire restaurant, and despite that, he provided excellent service. The Atmosphere of the restaurant was casual and seemed like a great place to hangout with friends, not a Restaurant suitable for a first date. A good friend of mine at the school we teach at brags about Sam's Pizza place every day I'm with him. How awesome the pizza is, a local family owns it with the BEST D**M chicken wings. Well I live 55 minutes away from Sam's. So to shut him up I called his bluff, last night my wife and I ordered chicken wings from Sam's with a large thin pizza. I saw some of the other reviews mentioned that they tend to run late but not on our order. They quoted me 1.25 hours for the food order to be ready. When I pulled in a little over an hour later our order was ready. I brought a warming bag and it worked well on the long drive home-it kept everything hot. The tomato sauce tasted home made with a hint of sweetness, the vegetables were cooked perfectly with a slight crunch and the Canadian bacon was delicious. The pizza crust had a slight crunch but not too soft, excessively baked, or too doughy it was just right. The chicken wings were fall off the bone-out of this world. Fully cooked and the sauce had just the right amount of heat to wake up your taste buds. My apologies, my wife and I never tried their ranch sauce since we fell in love with the bar be que sauce. Usually my wife and I order a large pizza for leftovers on the following day but we finished both the pizza and the wings that night. We couldn't stop eating- it was soooo good! It is our favorite Pizza restaurant now. Place Sam's on your bucket list of restaurants to try. Yup, my friend was right. read more
