Another very overdue review (kindergarten teacher life! ), but this one is especially special…read morebecause Bert and the Elephant became part of our wedding story long before our wedding day. About a year before our wedding, my husband and I were exploring Lancaster as a potential wedding location. While walking down the street, I spotted a giant pink elephant. For those who don't know me, Delirium is my all-time favorite beer, and its logo is a pink elephant, so of course, it immediately caught my attention. When we walked inside, and I realized it was a Belgian beer bar and restaurant, I was absolutely ecstatic. Bert, the owner, noticed how excited we were, and we started talking. Bert is incredible! He is so knowledgeable about all of his different beers and cares about every single detail. He even has a different glass for almost every beer because, to him, the details matter. But what really stood out was how he treats people. Bert makes you feel like family. Before we left that day, he even gifted me a little ceramic pink elephant straight from his decor. I was absolutely giddy, and I still have that little elephant proudly displayed in my home today. I knew right then and there that we had to have our after-party at Bert and the Elephant. And we did! We were able to rent out the entire place for two hours after our wedding. We had an open bar for the first hour and delicious finger foods for a late-night snack. I'm sure you're thinking, "That must have been insanely expensive," but it wasn't! And it was the perfect location, right down the street from our hotel, so everyone could walk there easily. Our wedding day fell during a heatwave, and unfortunately, the heat definitely affected how many people could make it to the after-party. Everyone was exhausted from the day, but Bert and his staff still made sure that everyone who came had an amazing time. They were welcoming and attentive, making the night feel so special. Bert and the Elephant turned out to be the perfect way to end our wedding night. What started as a random pink elephant catching my eye on a walk through Lancaster turned into one of my favorite wedding memories. We are so grateful to Bert and his staff for helping us end the night with great drinks, delicious food, and even better memories.

It's not the most comfortable place due to the size, but the smells and vibes are good, so it's worth checking out. I got the blue crab benedict with potatoes and my husband got the short rib tacos. Service was quick and we were overall impressed with the food! My one gripe is that they didn't have any fun coffee drinks, just black coffee from what I saw.

And then they charged us full price. And that was the final nail. We made a reservation for a noon brunch on a Sunday, we knew it was going to be busy and we got seated right away, amazing! And then it was down hill from there. We were seated right by the bussing station, I was staring at dirty dishes my entire meal, at one point I was hit and I spilled my entire cup of coffee all over my table and lap and had to clean it up myself. The French press itself was border line in drinkable. The grounds were too finely ground causing there to be grit throughout the entire pitcher of French press. We each had about one mug each. The food came out and my over easy eggs were over medium at best, the entire bottom of the yolk was hard through to the middle. Only one biscuit got gravy. And then once my partner finished his eggs he found a long black hair under where the eggs were. Needless to say we were very much done with The Bread Pedaler by the time this happened. We let the waitress know. She brought the check, which still included the food we didn't eat because there was a hair in it. Not wanting to start anything we just paid (still tipped 20% because I'm not a jerk) and left. I wish this was the great review I was hoping to leave. I was so excited to eat here. But this was truly one of the worst experiences I've had in years.

The atmosphere was lively, our server was attentive, and everything came out at a good pace. We started with the wings and nachos, which were both excellent and easy to share with the table. Several of us ordered the tenderloin tips, while others had the fish and wraps. My tenderloin tips were a bit underwhelming and could have used more seasoning, but everyone else seemed happy with their meals. The beers were also a nice complement to dinner. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'd probably branch out and try something different from the menu.

Everything is tasty enough, nothing really stands out but I do have some favorites-the mac salad is worth the price of admission in itself. Food and drink prices are decent. There's a significant bar with comfortable seating and attentive friendly bartenders and Several low tables that get filled and crowded quickly because of proximity. It's a downtown staple with an option for everyone. I swear I wrote a review before but here I am again because I don't see it anywhere.

There was quite a crowd at the bar, which I think may have been attributed to happy hour as it seemed to clear out about halfway through our dinner. We had the Irish soda bread and in order of chips for a starter. The soda bread was served with butter and jam. It was pretty good. The chips appeared to be hand, cut, and well fried. They had a very good taste of them. They were served with three sauces, two of which were cream based and were pretty tasty. The third was supposed to be a curry sauce, but it was extremely thin and did not have a great deal of flavor. I have the bangers and mash and my wife had a steak. Both were very good. Service was OK but the bartender who poured my second Guinness could probably take a remedial lesson in how to pour a Guinness as it was definitely not a proper pour. All in all if I were in the area again, I would probably come here.

Having a Guinness is always nice and, my shepherd's pie was pretty good, but the fish and chips was as bad as it gets and it was all a bit overpriced. The shepherd's pie had a nice presentation and good taste, although perhaps a bit low on meat. The fish and chips looked like someone's first ever attempt at making it. A greasy mess with more batter than fish. Service was slow as well.
