I haven't been here for years. ABG is a local pub on the edge of the city. Brooke, our server was very friendly was very attentive. They have wing special everyday for ...hold on... $1 each.. I got 5 Old Bay.. omg nice and hot and crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. I also had the onion rings, which i seldom eat. Again perfect. She came up and asked if I was ready to order I informed her I had a few questions about the order size and plate I was prepared to invest in . Found this little gem randomly after traveling to PA. We drove up and the outside is questionable and the inside is a typical grunge bar scene. We came In around 8pm and they were pretty busy and people steadily came In after us. We sat and figured we had to use our phones for the menus. There were only 3 or 4 workers so we knew we had to be patient, but we already expected that. Looking at the menu, I was quite surprised. It's not a very big menu but they had very specific items. We orders the nachos with beef, wings: garlic parm and house made bbq, pork belly tacos, seared ahi over risotto, Philly steak n cheese, and empanada. My favs were the nachos, pork belly tacos, and garlic park wings. The tuna was ok, it didn't have much flavor and the grade was questionable but the risotto it was served over was good. Went in to grab lunch. Bar had multiple open seats. 3 female bartenders behind the bar, another younger male, and two what looked like owners and managers. We were given menus after a couple minutes no water, didn't ask if we knew what we wanted to drink. We sat another about 10 minutes and what looked like an owner came up and asked us what we wanted to drink. Ordered a Bloody Mary and a beer. He ended up walking away and not even getting us our drinks. Waited another few minutes to see if he would come back ir anyone else would come over and nothing. We left. Literally there were 8 people at the bar... We were at a bar just the night before that had about 50 people and one bartender hustling her ass off and we never waited more than two minutes with an empty glass. We will not go back. read more

I've been coming here ever since I was young. It's always been a great place to go for wings and to meetup with friends. The establishment has gone through many improvements as far as expanding the inside to make more room for dining. The wings and menu is great, everyone is always friendly. There is usually plenty of parking but there is a possibility the parking lot may get full at peak times. If you love wings or oysters, you gotta come here and give them a try. It does get busy and it may be a little challenging to find a spot at the bar or seating but doesn't that show you something? Worth waiting for if you can. Unsure if you can call and reserve tables or not. It's located on the edge of the city and a pretty safe area so don't panic if you're new to the area and it looks a little intimidated because it's kind of sitting on the corner by itself. I completely understand that the restaurant business is struggling right now and I feel for them, I really do, but our server was super rude, the food took forever and everything tasted blah. This place apparently has the best wings in Lancaster county. If that's the case, the bar must be set pretty low. Pizza was raw, wings were over cooked and flimsy and the server acted like you just killed her dog or something. This is hands down one of my favorite bars in Lancaster! I've been coming here for years and it's just gotten better and better. The new expanded dining has allowed for much needed seating. The art hanging on the walls adds an eclectic ambiance and the mural painted on the outside of the building gives you a taste of what to expect on the inside. The tuna burger is out of sight! The wasabi aioli and red cabbage slaw is delicious, medium rare tuna....yum. I promise you the food will not disappoint. The wings are the best in town and the Bloody Mary's are awesome!! First time visitng so we didnt know how ordering worked. I asked for a high chair which the server brought out, but never asked if we needed menus or anything. Then he came back and asked what we wanted to drink (with still no menus). Brought us menus that didn't have a drink list on them so we looked online to see what they had. The list wasn't updated so he had to rattle off what they had available when he came back to fake the order. This was probably 15 minutes in. We ordered food at the same time... Our appetizers came out first but that was a good 45 to an hour after sitting there. They apologized for the wait and said the rest of the food would be out promptly. Waited another 15 to 20 minutes on that. We were there for 1.5 hours total and we had 2 little ones with us. We arrived before a good amount of the people there (seated outside), but somehow the server's excuse for the wait was that all the orders came in at once. The food was not worth the wait. Subpar apps, soggy fish tacos, bready shrimp po boys -- light on the shrimp. I never, ever write bad reviews but this was a BUMMER. My mom is headed back there right now to try to get her money back. I had high hopes since there are so many good reviews online. I can't see why we'd return. read more

We hadn't been back to ABG since before 2020... we were hoping it was the same as before and we were not disappointed! Our food was excellent... my burger was cooked perfectly to medium... my husbands wings (mango habanero) were sweet and spicy... just as he had remembered. It was Yuengling night so that was a plus! Our server was attentive and awesome. This is our favorite pub.. it's quirky and unique ... and the food and service are always amazing!!! So many places have gone downhill, unfortunately, since Covid... but this place is still top notch! read more

It's always nice when a bar/restaurant has vegetarian options that aren't boring. They had delicious general Tso's style cauliflower wings, a creamy curry/squash soup and an amazing spicy impossible meatball sub. All of which hit the spot. This place is a Lancaster city staple! My favorite "dive bar"/ neighborhood bar around. The skater vibe/decor is great, there's something interesting on the walls wherever you look! Staff and bartenders are always friendly and helpful - even when they're swamped! And most importantly, their food is AMAZING! Their wings are a bit pricy, but they have daily wing specials. Their flavors are out of this world good. Try the hot bbq cajun flavor. SO DELICIOUS I wish I could drink it! Their pizzas are fabulous as well, and the sandwiches. This is a pretty run of the mill 'dive bar.' It's not really a dive bar but it cultivates that sort of atmosphere. They have a pretty extensive beer menu. Seems like you can get a basic cocktail. I don't know that you'd want to be more fancy than that...one good reason to come, though, is the wings. Very good wings...nice and spicy. When we went it was about 6:15 on a Thursday. The place was packed. We were able to get a table...but the place stayed packed the whole time we were there, which was maybe 90 minutes. It's also pretty loud. So, decent....great if you are looking for a fun dive bar hang out night or maybe a place to watch sports while enjoying some beers and good bar food. read more

It breaks my heart to write this because ever since I moved away I sorely have missed this place. My mom and I went here to eat during my visit. The food was fantastic as always. Zero complaints there. However, we got to-go boxes and were ready to leave and had to wait nearly an hour to even get our check so we could go. Pile on top of this that it was raining really hard and it stopped for maybe 20 minutes. Had the wait not been so long, we would have been able to walk home without being totally drenched because the rain started up again. It also seemed very understaffed, but I can't fully speak on that. Pros: Food is amazing and I will gladly do takeout next time. Went to American Bar & Grill expecting a local watering hole or somewhat of a dive bar. We were referred here and recommended as trying some of the best wings in Lancaster by the discover Lancaster magazine. They were not wrong! As a matter of fact, this place was rather nice inside, and had a mixed crowd. We ran into some friendly birthday partiers, a few young people, even kids hanging out. They had games going on the flat screen and even a back dining room for those wanting to sit and dine further away from the bar area. The service was fast and excellent, we had a wonderful selection of draft beers including a seasonal Belgian, tried a few wings, Cheesesteak egg rolls, and a decent house wine. Believe the wing specials are on Monday and Tuesday night, but they also had the same deals between 4 to 6 for happy hour. The suicides were their spicier wings, and tasted great! We would definitely recommend this restaurant as a go-to spot if you find yourself looking for something to do in Lancaster ever. FYI - locals call this spot " ABG" read more

The fish prepared excellently. Very good and I am very picky with my fish tacos. Great selection of beers. Slow start to the service. It's clean but run like a dive. Does that make sense? The best part is, they have punk shows about twice a month. No cover charge. Relaxed atmosphere where you can get a great meal, inexpensive drinks, a no frills skateboard atmosphere and maybe get your teeth knocked in while watching a raucous band. The wings were EXACTLY what I wanted: meaty, perfectly fried & sauced! They forgot one order of wings, and when I called back, they were incredibly nice and apologetic, had the wings ready in MINUTES, and gave us a drink token for the next visit! The food here is very good, however, the service is terribly rude and awful. I have had the wings here once and they were very good. On another occasion, my party was kicked out for someone in my party being in the dining room section and under the age of 21, even though no one in my party was offering alcoholic beverages. On another night, the bar and dining room were very packed. There is no clear organization for the dining room with a hostess or wait list. After waiting in line for an hour, my party was next for a table. However, the server seated, instead, someone who came in way after us, and was very rude to us, saying we were cutting in front of "all these people" (none of which were waiting for tables and just drinking at the bar). If you refuse to keep a wait list,at least be organized and fair with who's next. In short, it seems like this place is only interested in you coming in and having several drinks before they seat you and feed you cheap wings. They also don't allow you to get takeout or take your leftover wings home, which is really weird. If you want to wait for a table and have a beer with dinner, they're not going to treat you well. The bartender(close to bald, probably mid 30s white man) who worked on Monday April 16th at 11pm refused to serve me because I showed my non-passport photo ID which is issued by the US government. He said "maybe next time, you should call us before bringing a weird ID". I even use my ID to board aircrafts. I showed my ID and it has been accepted in NY, FL, OH, CA, VA and also here in PA. I understand if the liquor law in PA requires international people to carry their passport(which is their ONLY PROPER IDENTIFICATION) to eat a burger and chicken wings at American Bar and Grill. But he seemed to have no willingness to listen to me, didn't look at my ID carefully enough not to call it a "weird ID" and how ignorant he was made me feel discriminated very much. read more
