I loved everything about this restaurant. The ambience is warm, personal, minimalist, and cozy all at the same time. The staff looked very presentable and were attentive, yet also gave us space to look over the menu and eat. Speaking of the menu, I really enjoyed checking items off of a paper menu, it felt very old-school. I was there with my parents, and we decided to get a couple entrees to split family-style. We got ban ban noodles, yibin noodles, pork and crab dumplings, a breadier kind of dumpling which I think had pork in it, a scallion pancake, a beef pancake roll, and chrysanthemum tea. All were delicious, no complaints. My favorites were definitely the bready meat dumpling, it just melted in your mouth, and the yibin noodles. I also really enjoyed the chrysanthemum tea; they delivered a big pot and several cups, and there was enough in the pot to fill each of our cups three or four times. Dough zone is a clean and family friendly dim sum/ dumpling house. We visited on a weekend evening and were surprised by how warm it was inside the restaurant. I think the large window plus summer sun made for a greenhouse effect. There are many vegetarian options but I thought the overall flavor for the food was just average. Service was also slow and we had to call wait staff ourselves to ask for the check, water, etc. -Dan Dan noodle - because of the peppercorn leaves a tingling taste on your tongue similar to mapo tofu -Vegetarian spicy ma la noodle - also left a similar tingling taste. Went for our first time and after 30 mins of waiting, we were informed 75% of our order wasn't going to come out as their steamer wasn't working. At that point, might as well close the store but if you don't, it's so bad to let people sit there (in an empty restaurant - literally the only people in there) for over 30 mins AFTER ordering to then tell us we won't get our order. Outside of this, the server was nice but by himself so when we wanted to order, we had to wait while he took an order in the phone. Literally stopped us while talking to him to go answer the phone. We ate two items, noodles and wontons, as these didn't need the steamer (the only two food items we were able to get). They were great and had us looking forward to everything else that we didn't get to have. Server offered us coupons for a free item on our next visit. My friend & I split all the food we got but we got an order of the cucumbers, green onion pancakes, beef pan fried dumplings, and 2 orders of the Dan Dan noodles. We picked up a take out order at this restaurant on a Wednesday evening after placing the order online and the pick up was very smooth. The restaurant ambiance itself was great and I wouldn't mind eating in next time! Our intention was to go to a park for picnic and enjoy the food there and we loved it. They packed the food really well and the flavors were awesome overall. We got a Dan Dan noodle (9/10) if you like spicy, cucumber cold noodles (9/10) so delicious, I also added the spicy chili oil that comes with it. And the third one we got was the yibbing noodles (9/10) very delicious flavor. We also got the vegetable pan friend dumplings (7/10). This dumpling spot is definitely the new hot spot! The atmosphere was lively, and the prices on the menu were surprisingly inexpensive, which is always a plus. We love this place! Everything we had was good and totally exceeded our expectations. The smaller portions were just perfect so that we could try more items. I came in a large group of 12, and we were seated right away on a Saturday at 6pm. However, it became full soon after we were seated. This is what we ordered: Pork xiao long bao: good but not much soup Pork and crab xiao long bao: really liked it although could only really taste the crab Sweet and sour cucumber: a little too artificially sweet, I wouldn't get it again Braised pork ear: tasted normal to me (hard to judge because I'm not a fan of pig ear in general) Green onion pancake: super crispy and tasty Pan fried pork bun: this was my favourite! I was around the Sugar Land area with family on the way to First Colony mall. But one place was suggested to visit and that was Dough Zone Dumpling House. I had heard good reviews from friends and family of the restaurant for their specialties. And of course I am always up for it all things buns and dumplings. The restaurant is nice aesthetically and noticed there are also a few touch screens kiosks to place to go orders. But we were dining in. It was a first visit for me and wanted to pick out items to give me a feel of the restaurant. So I picked out: pork soup dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, beef sandwich appetizer, steamed buns and pan fried buns. The pork soup dumplings were flavorful and texture nice. Some places can make them too thin, not enough soup broth or too thick but these were the right amount. The steamed dumplings are good too. Good chewiness and packed a nice flavor. The beef sandwich I picked because of the "Chinese burger" item I would see but this was a bit different. The bun, amount of meat and pickled vegetables were great starters. But finally had to give the steamed and pan fried buns a try the steamed buns were a nice size and juicy. As you can see I was a bit optimistic so I took a picture to buns in haha. But what was great was the pan fried buns. Still that nice bun, size, contents were just right but that nice crunchy bite at the bottom makes me choose it over the steamed version. Overall Dough Zone Dumpling House was a good experience. The staff are nice and helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The place is very nice for your bao, dumplings and a few others craving. Not a huge issue for me but it was interesting on the timing of the dishes coming out to the table. Ideally I would like to go: appetizer, dumplings, baos, and last would be soup dumplings for a nice light finish to the meal. But it was interesting to have it go: Dumplings, soup dumplings, beef sandwich appetizer, and then last were the baos. Maybe I'm just nitpicking but having the appetizer in the middle was something that stood out. Having the starter in the middle of the meal had me internally scratch my head. Because typically those items are quick hitters and first out the kitchen. But not a problem at all if it was a more convenient way for the kitchen to get items out. Semi open, white kitchen to the side to ensure cleanliness. Courteous, friendly service at relaxed paced. I first tried Dough Zone in Seattle and was excited that it made its way to Houston. I remembered it to be not bad in Seattle and wanted to take my friend. We arrived on a Friday night and there wasn't a wait. Upon arrive the restaurant is clean and bright. We decided to share an order of xiao long baos, spicy wontons and beef noodle soup. The xiao long baos came with minced ginger instead of sliced ginger, which I did not prefer. The dumplings contained soup, so I was happy about that. Spicy wontons were tiny and you only get 6 dumplings. It was labeled as spicy but I didn't taste that much spice so I decided to add more chili oil that was provide at the table. The chili oil wasn't spicy at all. The beef noodle soup was light but not bad. My only complaint is the bowl is super tiny! Overall, I think the food is just okay. I've tried some of the best Xiaolongbao while living in China, so I always appreciate a good soup dumpling when I find it in the States. I don't expect full authenticity but definitely value the effort. So when I heard this spot opened in Town Centre, I knew I had to give it a try. The location is convenient, plenty of parking in a shopping mall area. The interior is clean with a modern feel. Easy to order (dim sum style) and quick service. I started out with the Dan Dan noodles, which were solid - good amount of seasoning with the Szechuan peppercorn but not that spicy, good texture. The star of the show for me were the Sweet & Sour Cucumber, excellent presentation, complements well with the Bao. The pig ears were very good as well. As for the soup dumplings, they were just okay, the broth was good but the meat was a bit underwhelming, it came across like slightly elevated frozen pre-made Baos. I've definitely had better homemade ones from friends/family. We got to try 2 orders plus an order of pan-fried ones. Overall, I still enjoyed the meal and appreciated the simplicity of this whole experience. It's a great addition to Sugar Land, offering another great option for Asian food. This trip brought back some nostalgia from my younger days living in Sugar Land, having only a handful of mom-and-pop spots for Asian cuisine. Ever since this spot opened, I've found myself coming pretty regularly when I'm in the mood for soup dumplings 小籠包. I had some initial reservations about authenticity given it's a franchise, but I've been pleasantly surprised. The food is tasty, the dumplings are pretty good, and the decor is very new and modern with a classic feel at the same time. I was seated promptly, and the staff were friendly. My food was served hot and fast. The pork xiao long bao had a good amount of soup individually, and the ratio of dough to meat was perfect. The fried wontons weren't crispy like I thought it would be. They were more like potstickers texture. However, I love the sweet spicy garlic sauce. The Q-bao was ok. The skin was too thick while the meat portion inside was small. The zha jiang mian could have more meat in the bowl. However, Dough Zone popped up on my social media feeds as opening a new location in Sugar Land only minutes from my house. We recently got dumpling world and even though it was good it was no ding tai fung substitute. Now, Dough Zone might well be a value replacement! There are many items that were comparable in taste but half the cost!!! I couldn't believe how affordable some of their items were. Their soup dumplings were delicious and I believe it is $9 for 8!!! Vs DTF is $13? For 6? Also here the crab ones are the same price as the pork and shrimp! We literally ordered 47 items for our table so there are so many things to go through. But I will say the Dan Dan noodles, the beef noodle soup, and the cucumber were other standouts. I took my family out for dinner here. I heard many great things and wanted to try them out. as you can tell. We have a lot of different types of dumplings and noodles. They were all good. My mom loved their food and that's a rarity coming from her. My favorite was actually the cucumbers. Everyone should at least get that. Some of the items they claimed it is spicy. Scale of 1 to 5 with 2 being mild, I would put their spicy at a 2.5 . The cucumber weren't spicy to me. Despite some of the stuff being premade, the quality of the food was really good. (Some dishes can't leave out the spiciness. For example, the sauce for hot and sour glass noodles.) if you want your food to be spicy, you may need to rely on the spicy sauce that's on the table with soy sauce and vinegar. if you're looking for like Indian Pakistani level of spiciness, maybe not this location. We went here for lunch. The place was surprisingly large. They have bamboo steamers as part of their wall decor. They had so many choices on their menu that I wanted to try so we ordered a lot. They provided ginger in a small plate. On the table, there is vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil tat you can mix with the ginger. We liked the sweet and sour cucumber, pork and shrimp potstickers, fried wontons with chili sauce, and banana naan bread. The beef in their spicy beef pancake roll was interesting. If you're looking for casual Chinese food, I'd give this a 4/5. If you're looking for something authentic, I'd give it a 2/5. My family liked the pig ears the best. The xiao long baos were lacking in flavor and filling. They would satisfy a craving, but authentic soup xlb's have lots of filling and soup. The sour and spicy noodles didn't taste great, had a very monotone flavor. The spicy bao I've attached a photo of is literally sitting in oil which made it very unappealing and unappetizing. The ube taro drink is okay, quite artificial and a bit sweet. Comparable to Sharetea-type drinks. The interior was clean and decorated, plenty of parking, and the service was great! A major con is the lack of physical menu's. I imagine a good amount of older people would want to try this place out and have a relying on small phones isn't ideal. read more

Newest dough zone location in sugar land! I was excited to try this chain from the PNW. It's a prime location by the first colony mall and there's plenty of parking available. The interior is nice, very open and bright. Tables are clean and there are many workers, service is pretty good. You mark what you want on a paper menu and they input it for you. Soup dumplings, 8 for $9. We tried pork and crab. These were pretty good, the skin was the right thickness and they tasted pretty authentic. The crab flavor was extremely subtle, but I still enjoyed these. Price is reasonable considering how much other restaurants charge for soup dumplings these days. Red oil wontons- just ok to me. Decent filling and not overcooked, but I've had some spectacular ones at other places and this portion was really small. Pan fried wontons- the exact same wontons from the other dish, but pan fried with the lace. Tastes good but not really a wow factor. Also super oily, which I didn't really like. Q Bao (sheng jian bao)- I liked the flavor of these, they actually tasted pretty close to ones I've had in Shanghai and places in Chinatown. They are very round on the top, which makes me think they're machine made. Yi Ben Noodles- the only noodle dish we tried, but looking at other people's orders of different noodles, I wonder if all of the noodles are the same and it's just the sauces that are different. Flavor is nice, but portion is so small. I think this tiny bowel was ~$8. Cucumbers- a popular appetizer from the looks of it. I liked the sweet and sour flavor! Pig ear- thinly sliced which was nice! Slight spicy kick was pleasant. Classic app! Banana naan- basically Chinese pancake with a little bit of banana, pan fried and served with whipped cream. This was so oily, it was almost off putting. The flavor itself was good, I would have liked if there was chocolate or red beans. The pancake dough didn't have the texture I was expecting, which almost makes me think it was prepackaged or frozen before. My overall impression is that the service is very good and they pay a great deal of attention to presentation. But the food is simple, the menu is small, and most of the food, especially the dumplings and pancake, make me feel everything is either prepackaged or made in a central kitchen before being shipped to the restaurant.
