just picked up my car from getting some autobody work done they did a fabulous job. Made my car. Look brand new.

STAY AWAY!!! Especially if you're a woman!!!! Came to pick up my car when I noticed the door had another dent in it and my door handle looked like it was mauled by a dog!!! I also noticed miles put on my car when I asked about it DOUG was flustered and couldn't show me the paperwork with my initial miles. I ask why was someone in my backseat my cover is all messed up there's dirt and oil everywhere he then proceeded to tell me it was because it was vacuumed, WHAT?!?! Makes no sense so he agreed in the end it was his fault took my car for another week called me 15 min before closing in a Friday said if I couldn't get it then I have to wait till Monday!!! Excuse me you messed up my car and can't even offer to drop it off 2 miles away pure ignorance. I barely drive this car so I went picked it up on a Monday and what do I notice ANOTHER DENT ON MY OTHER SIDE DOOR!!!!! Doug continued to deny it until I finally lost my cool because I felt soooo taken advantage of. Flash forward to a few months later I finally had to take my car on the highway to only notice the huge BREEZE THAT COMES STRAIGHT IN THE DOOR THEY DIDN'T SEAL!!! ITS NOW FREEZING!! Oh and I have a nice BMW that didn't have a single problem. Truly disappointed even the workers knew it was wrong. Oh and the price was ridiculous but I looked at all the good reviews and thought ok it will be ok then to find all the bad reviews coming in the past few months, truly a rip off. I want to start by saying that I am the kind of woman that always passes the torch to her husband when it comes to auto repairs of any kind. I hate not knowing the basics and feeling like I am going to be totally taken advantage of as a result. Recently though, I was on a time deadline to get some body work done, and my husband's work schedule did not allow for him to help me out. So I ventured out into the unknown and got several estimates for my body damage. I went to Douglas first, and in hindsight, I could have saved myself all of the other trips. He was very sensitive to the issue that budget was my number one concern, and he gave me 2 options for each damaged area: a cost-effective one and a looks-like-nothing-ever-happened one. He described each repair in a way that made total sense to me, and he gave me estimates based on whatever decisions I made. The prices were very reasonable, and due to some confusion during the parts ordering process, my new spoiler cost Doug more than expected and arrived unpainted. Instead of charging me more for the part and the painting, he simply adjusted my bill and ate that expense. I hope I don't continue to need body work on my car, but I had to share my unexpected great experience. The work looks fantastic, and I felt so comfortable there from the moment I walked in. Another happy customer! Except that they didn't charge me :) so I don't know if I count as a customer. I used to go to CASCI in Forest Park, but they got bought out by the Abra chain. I'd hoped they'd be the same, but they're taking cues from Firestone now. My wife's car had a small bash that kept the driver's door from fully opening. I asked Abra for an estimate for just fixing the bend in the sheet metal, to be paid by me out of pocket. They also added in replacing the grill and fender (which only have cosmetic paint damage) and repainting multiple parts for $1300. This morning I went in to Douglas. He looked it over, then came back out with a small (coated) pry bar and quickly and gently bent it back into shape. He refused to let me pay him. They are the nicest most honest folks! My driver's side window fell into my door and I couldn't get it to roll back up. I took it into a dealer (because I already had recall work that needed to be done on it) and had them give me a quote (that I had to pay for, mind you) to fix it. The dealership's price was very, very high. I called Douglas Auto Body and got a quote from them. MORE THAN DOUBLE the price LESS (even if it had included the part)! I needed to get this fixed as cheap as possible. They agreed to let me buy the window motor myself and just charged me the labor to install it! Very quick service, very fair price, super helpful and very nice. I highly recommend this shop and will bring my car here for any kind of services that they do that I may need in the future. read more

like any other car guy as usual our cars are always thought of as being in mint cond well my caddy dts was untill some a young very respectful left hand turning and then at the last min not looking and decided to turn right (after impact he ran to my dooor and asked are you and your wife ok it was my fault and i am very soory what should we do now i said i will call the police he said i will call my mom - lol) well i insisted to the to the kids ins company that the body work be done at DOUGLAS AUTO BODY because i have known of them for over 30 years even when they were connected to the local caddy dealership then LAWRENCE CADDY now ETTLESON CADDY and i have seen work that they have done in the past and it looked great but up to this date never had the need for there service i entrusted my baby to doug and his team from him personally to his receptionist you couldn't ask for better service (cust or work) and they came through with flying colors - perfect paint match all the damage perfectly repaired any mech issues corrected and as an assoc of mine said that it may even look better than before the fender bender it was like nothing ever happened - in my opinion that if any one has the need for great service and tip top quality body work DOUGLAS AUTO BODY is the place to go. (rust repair; replaced worn-out window electrical, when the window froze open in the middle of January!; fixed rear passenger door when it stopped closing properly). I am a car enthusiast with a passion that began at a very young age. This hobby was introduced to me by my dad, brother and relatives who have a wide span of experience in both the appearance and mechanics of vehicles. This frame of reference led me to select Douglas Auto Body when I had an unfortunate experience about 10 years ago. A young girl opened her dad's rear car door as I was driving past and smashed the entire passenger side of my Champaign color 1992 Oldsmobile 98. Thankfully, the child was uninjured. Yet I was left with significant damage to my car with a challenging color that was likely to not match. A friend recommended Douglas Auto Body as he raved how Doug was extremely professional and the repairs to his white/pearl finished Cadillac, also a very difficult color to match, looked like it was factory original after a slight fender bender. I visited Doug for myself and boy was my friend ever right. Doug gave me a great initial impression as his shop looked immaculately clean and he greeted me with a smile and a firm handshake. He provided me with a detailed estimate and followed through with all that he promised. The real proof is in his work. I arrived to pick up my Olds and it looked incredible, like the car was never painted except for when it rolled off the GM assembly line. The car was already more than a decade old and the paint had sun exposure and daily wear. Doug's team matched it spot on. I held that car for a few more years and never experienced any peeling, flaking, bubbling or defects with the work at Doug's shop. Most recently, my dad experienced a similar circumstance with another driver who scrapped along his driver's side and smashed the front fender of my dad's Emerald Green 2000 Honda Civic Coupe. Doug took the time, care, and patience to make the repairs as good as new. Again, this is a more than 10 year old car. My brother, a former Honda technician and my dad a stickler, both agreed as they were more than impressed with the finished work. Brad was the excellent body man that Doug assigned to bring my dad's favorite car back to life; like the accident never happened.
