I will need to follow up after the work is completed.. But for now I'll start with the fact the insurance total my truck! Damage repair was estimate over $13K with OEM parts the insurance rule is 75% of the FMV, and $13K+ was equal to or just over 75%. I drove the truck home from Calumet to Oak Park and to Stelton's shop's twice with no problem... But we most of us know any kind of frontend damage is costly! I decided to purchase my truck back from the insurance company.. for $3.2K, after having a long conversation with Nick and Jon. (Awesome People). Stelton stated they could repair the truck! My requirements was as follows: Only OEM parts, No aftermarket... Fit and Finish! No rush jobs... Take as much time as required Certified road worthy to my Insurance company And last for Stelton's to repairs when completed they would allow their love ones to drive.... So far so good... They are not finished, but close, Truck has been in their shop for Dec. 5th. 1 of the hold ups are the HID headlights! OEM not availed and finding aftermarkets that I like! That old saying Looks are in the eyes of the be holder. Being an engineer! No one can be as picky as I.... I can say from the work I've seen thus far! ( Fit Finish detail nuts and bolts) As if the trunk has just rolled out of the factory.. Showroom Quality! So far we are up to $16.8K as the current estimate. Still below the Insurance FMV. I brought my Macan in to have a couple of scratches on the hatch cleaned up and the hatch repainted. I had removed the silver lettering when I got the car and wanted them to replace the name (no model designation) in matte black letters. Unfortunately, the name was not satisfactory because the spacing between the letters was much too narrow. The owner said that's the way the letters were placed on the package strip so that's the way they put them on. He said that he would take them off after a week or so to let the paint cure, then buff or repaint if necessary. I would be present to supervise the replacement of the letters. That seemed reasonable and we scheduled an appointment for the next week. The next day when I put my briefcase on the backseat I noticed a deep dime size dimple in the rear center seat. Not sure how they managed to do it, but I imagine they put something on the seat and then folded the seat back over it and left it. A week later I dropped the car off and gave directions as to what we had agreed would be done and he said the owner would call me when he got in. At 8:30 I called the shop, the owner answered and said it was done. The car was parked out front and the rear hatch appeared to be OK. They had been able to remove the letters and buff out the paint to an acceptable level. Unfortunately, when I finally got around to washing the car I noted that there was a dust dimple in the paint, so it will need to be repainted. When I showed this to the shop owner, I believe he was as disappointed as I and to his great credit, stepped up to the plate and refunded my money. Upfront guy with integrity. This was the best experience I've had with an auto body shop ever. I was rear-ended and my rear bumper was crushed. They are a direct partner with State Farm insurance, and the process was smooth and professional. I brought in my estimate, and the staff said they would negotiate directly with State Farm to ensure that my entire rear bumper would be replaced. I was so surprised when I came to pick up my car, and they had washed and polished the entire car, removing other minor scratches in the process! My car looked brand new, thanks to Stelton Motors. My rear passenger side wheel well was rusted out and as a result, the shock absorber separated from it and was pretty useless. Another Oak Park body shop refused to do it. Stelton took the job on. While the process took a little longer than I would have liked, the bottom line is that the work was completed professionally and in good order. Estimate was consistent with the final price. My car was trashed and left after a theft. The car looks fine ...it took MUCH longer than they said it would to repair. The length of time they had the car was double the estimate. What is most irritating is they didn't replace the front license plate holder and did not remind me that it was missing. While the onus is on me to replace it as it was stolen, this car stealing/recovery/repair is not something I experience every day. That is a not so minor detail. I ended up with two tickets due to not having a front plate. I sent the bill and while I know they did fine with the big settlement from the insurance company, they didn't see fit to reimburse me. I hit a deer in Peoria. The car was drivable, but a mess. My mother had someone back into her car a month or two before me, and Nick at stelton was her hero, so I went too. The staff was amazing, they kept me up to date on the progress of my car, and went above and beyond to make my car look like brand new. The car was detailed inside and out, washed and waxed to perfection. I looked over the car and could not find a trace of the former damage, or proof of the repairs. Nick is like the father you never had, he is the most charismatic guy you've ever met, and will engage you in stories about his childhood in Greece, or his grandchildren. Over Xmas, my car finally met the post which took off the driver's side mirror and scraped and dented the driver door panel. Seeking body shops in the Oak Park area on Monday, I gave my business to Stelton after speaking to the owner on the phone and working with her husband Dan, in person. He wasn't sure if he was going to have the work done before New Years Eve. I received a call this AM telling me my car was done and to pick it up in the afternoon. Done ahead of schedule! I just picked it up. The work is pristine! You can never tell that the accident occurred. Great color match. No sign of any denting. I'd recommend them 100 times over for these reasons: 1. State Farm (the payer) offered Stelton as an option. I was really pleased with every aspect of their service. The people I dealt with were very courteous and informative. I hit my bumper a month or so ago, and while it only left a scratch, the bolts holding the bumper fell out, and my bumper was hanging away from the car. I was not worried about the scratch, but other shops told me they would have to replace the bumper. This would have been a completely unnecessary expense. I took the car to Stelton. They replaced the bolts on the bumper, and it looks as good as new! It took them 5 minutes, and they did not even charge me!!!! Each time, I have received prompt and proactive communication and my car was always ready on or by the estimated date & time. After one front bumper repair, the paint job did not hold up and there was some slight chipping where the bumper met with the non-painted plastic under-carriage unit. I brought my Taurus to Stelton for repairs after an accident. Nick was a great -- the garage was packed with cars, likely many there for snow-related accident repair work. He was upfront about how long it would take before I could bring it in, but he did fix a broken taillight right away so i could still drive the car while I waited for my appointment.
