    Douglas Cafe aka Cozy Cafe
    Cris E.

Hey there my Yelp family. My wife and I visited this little cafe by a suggestion on Yelp. What a treat!! The wait staff was great, and let us sit were ever we wanted. Coffee was offered and a great little menu was given to us. We both wanted The Cozy Ness with a side of bacon. I was shocked how quickly our food was done and on our table. It was fresh also. Not just sitting under a heat lamp waiting for us to order. The Douglas Cafe is not much on fancy, but man they can make a yummy breakfast. They kept the coffee coming and were very friendly. If you are looking for a great place to take a loved one, or friends who come into town, this is the place. I'm really surprised it took me two years living here to find this place. Do yourself a favor and give the Douglas Cafe a try, you won't be sorry. Thanks for reading my ramblings - Sepi

For the most important meal of the day, if you like to make sure you eat something hearty, like gramma would make, Douglas Cafe is here for you. I had the half order of Cozy Mess (loaded hash browns with 2eggs and toast) and it was chalk full of veggies and meats. The hash browns were crispy but maybe a touch greasy. My dining companion liked his western omelet but commented it was too heavy on the green pepper and wished he'd ordered the cozy mess as well. Staff was friendly and attentive. We used a groupon for our meal making it a heck of a breakfast bargain.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. My Ruben was delicious and Grilled Turkey Bacon Melt had actual real turkey. Fries were crispy and golden brown. To top it off was what my niece called the " best lemon meringue pie I have ever eaten " it disappeared before I could get a picture. Can't wait to go back to check out breakfast.

Food was pretty gross. Didn't get what we ordered. I imagine that kitchen is also disgusting as the tables are never cleaned well.

I had asked her twice if they could turn the music down, which she did ask the guy behind the bar, I don't know if he was a bartender or a cook, but I heard him say what do they want, I've turned it down four times. Well, yes, I did overhear that I was sitting very clause to the bar. It was very rude of him, and I had been very kind and requested that the music be turned down some. The food was pretty good, I had the fig and creamy goat cheese flatbread. Overall, it might be a very good place for other people, rudeness is not acceptable.

While a bit of a hidden gem off of 86th Street, the building is modern, chic and inviting - with a large covered patio area connected to the north side of the building. The one negative is that the temperature is kept very cold inside, so consider bringing a sweater or light jacket to stay comfortable. Unfortunately, tonight was a bit cold outside, so it was a coinflip on which was better - we opted for the patio seating and the wind settled down during our visit to get quite comfortable. We started with a Cuban Martini and Sojito (see picture) along with an order of Bang Bang Shrimp (see picture) for an appetizer. We enjoyed the drinks and the Bang Bang Shrimp with the drizzled Yum Yum-type sauce was delicious! For our main courses, my wife ordered the Thai Pasta (see picture) and I opted for the Fig, Avocado and Goat Cheese Salad (see picture). As is our custom, we both shared bites from each of our plates and liked both of them very much - although the Thai Pasta definitely had a bit more 'kick'. We ordered the Tres Leches for dessert (remembering it from our last visit), but unfortunately found that they were sold out, so had to leave without dessert. If you are looking for a modern, unique, Asian fusion type restaurant in the Johnston area, Roots 95 won't disappoint. Meatloaf and Salmon entrees are regulars for us, but we've tried almost every sandwich and many of the other entrees, and they are always full of flavor and delicious. Salads are fresh and have very good quality lettuce and veggies. Dressings are good as well. Small bar with drop in seating, but it pays to get a reservation. They currently use Toast to take reservations and you'll get a reminder the day prior to your visit. Walk in's often find it challenging to squeeze in here!
