Contacted company which is being used by Home Depot, for no response. My water heater was leaking 7 days before christmas and I needed it fixed. A business is successful if you have good staff. Avoid at all costs. A bunch of scam artists. Okay, the service they did was no problem but they make every effort to overcharge you. I made an appointment and asked how much, and was told that $170 per hour. I double-confirmed that this charge starts the time they walk thru my door, and they said yes. On the day of, however, a guy calls at noon saying he arrived and is looking for parking. He completely disappears for an entire hour, and suddenly calls me that he is coming up. At this point, it was 13:00. He inspects the problem, and asks to go back to his car to get stuff (which is "parked a block away). And he disappears for another 30 minutes. When he finally came back, the work itself took 5 minutes. However, he said he will charge for 2 hours, plus the parking fee of $30. I said I will not pay for a guy "looking for parking" for a whole hour, especially because I was told the charge starts from the time the guy is in my place. The company still went ahead and charged me $479 to change a valve on a water heater that took 5 minutes to complete. I am going to dispute this charge with my credit card, and won't let them bully me like this. If you want to avoid a situation like this, please do not use them in the first place. read more

Can't speak for their work since they met did anything but charged me for talking!!!! So I would never post a negative review unless I thought it was justified and have given the company ample time to try and rectify the issue as I did with Orr Plumbing to little satisfaction. This company was recommended to me as a trustworthy and reputable company but that is not what I experienced. My tenant called me and advised me there was no hot water in the unit and I called Orr to go out and see what the issue was. I also requested the plumber not to do any work until I spoke with the plumber and they confirmed they would do so but needed a credit card on file. Orr sent a plumber out and they did absolutely nothing since the water was turned off and they could do anything. But yet they charged me for 2.5 hours at $150 and additional for materials that no one knows what they were used for. When I tried to call the office and question the charges I was advised the manger would call me back and it took almost two weeks for a call back. Understand I had never received an invoice or explanation of the fraudulent charges until I finally spoke to the manager. When I finally received a call back and was told by Eddie the service manager that too bad nothing was done there GPS showed the plumber there and I was going to be charged and all he would do would credit $75. So just be aware of this company and their over charging practices. If you're there and watching them and their work then good for you but I wouldn't use them ever again. read more

I have used Douglass Orr twice and both times the office was very helpful ( thank you Mary Jo) and our plumber Gary was excellent. Both times, Garry arrived on time had all the tools and parts needed to complete the job, was polite and careful with his tools to not scratch marble flooring, he cleans up the work space afterwards and is a true professional. I certainly would recommend them. ***I have also used one other plumbing company in the last 6 months and they forgot the appt having me miss work, they didn't have all the parts needed when they arrived the day later even after being told what is happening, they threw their tools down on the floor, with no drop cloth or care taken. read more

Plumber neglected to install a new flange after having installed a new toilet. The problem is he simply installed a new wax seal causing toxic sewer gas to escape into my condo during high winds. I requested service based on text messages from our water heater indicating a problem with the heat pump. The technician who responded to the request was very thorough and patient. This was a somewhat ill-defined problem that was not intuitively obvious. He tried several things to see if we could trigger the error message but to no avail. He hung in there with me and kept working this idea and that to see if we could tease out the problem. Although in the end, we hypothesized that the culprit could have been the power surges that have been fairly frequent coinciding with the rainy weather may have contributed to the error messages I received. All in all, I greatly appreciated the service call and his patience in working to find out if there was truly a problem with the heat pump. Used Douglas Orr plumbing by way of Home Depot for water heater replacement in a condo. Mary Jo at the Douglas Orr Home Depot desk was great. Responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous - starting with the positive. The technician was on time, friendly, and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Before he finished, he asked wether i had a "good AC guy". When i inquired why, he said he disconnected my AC hose but couldn't reconnect it. Said it was rusted. My AC is 3years new. So I had hot water but no AC . Useless in Miami at this time of year. 1day and $225 later AC Hose was replaced only to come home to a leak and an overflowing drain pan. The tech did not cap the hose that was running into the drain line which was shared with the AC. When I called him, he asked if my AC guys were still there. It was insulting. Then he said he "didn't know they were sharing a line". Who's the plumber ....? Once again, Mary Jo sent someone immediately to cap the hose which fixed the issue. It cost more money, time and frustration at the end. Why is it so hard to find people who take pride in what they do and have respect for your $$$? I sent the invoice for my AC Hose and a message to MaryJo hoping to possibly recoup that unnecessary cost. Wish me luck. It's unfortunate that this is common practice in Miami. I contracted Douglas Orr to run a camera service on a suspected collapsed cast iron drainage pipe. was told it would take approximately one hour. Service was done and including time for clearing out the pipe the personnel were there exactly one hour and twenty minutes. Was charged for two hours at a total of $775. Was told I would be sent via email a clip of the camera recording. Had to call twice, emailed the service representative that had quoted me for the subsequent repair of the pipe and lastly emailed the company owner Wayne Orr. Never hear back from my four attempts for requesting the camera footage and to this date have not received the committed to clip. needless to say, less than satisfied with the rersults. read more

I made an appointment in advance with Douglas Orr for today. They didn't show. I was given the window of 9-12, and yesterday they confirmed and put my credit card on file. They told me that the plumber would call me 30 minutes in advance of arriving. I arranged my schedule to wait for them. They never called. They never arrived. I called them after 12 to inform them of this, and to not bother coming out. The funny thing is that Douglas Orr is based only a five minute drive from my house in Miami Springs ... they have a lot full of trucks right there. That's why I called them in the first place... it seems a safe assumption that they would be a good choice for this area. We've been in this house for 25 years and never needed a plumber, but I always considered I'd call this big neighborhood company if we did. This is my 2nd time using Douglas Orr Plumbing and both times they've been awesome. They were able to schedule someone in less than 24 hours for a non-urgent toilet leak. Eddie communicated clearly what he was going to do and walked me through every step. He was especially patient despite the chaos and excess bureaucracy my building's association imposes on contractors. He was courteous and respectful of mask mandates at all times. I'd be glad to have him out to do more work in the future. I wish I could remember the name of the previous guy who came out, but he was similarly professional, courteous and did a great job with my kitchen sink / garbage disposal. He was extra thorough in checking to make sure there were no leaks after he finished his work. My experience working with other contractors in Miami has often been chaotic, with people going silent on communications, and even simply not showing up after being scheduled. I contacted two recommended companies. The first never returned my call. The 2nd asked for photos of the work to be done then went radio silent. I called Douglas Orr, was asked what job needed to be done, and immediately made an appt. I was given a time frame and the plumber arrived within that range. Randy was professional and thorough. He fixed the slow leak and the pop up lever of a sink and was able to detach a garden hose from a spigot that had been twisted too tight.
