I was introduced this place several years ago with my first visit to Wildwood NJ. I've been in love ever since! We even did a taste comparison to all the taffy places at Wildwood and several beaches nearby. Hands down Douglas wins! They even will mail you an order with a hand written thank you note. One time, I bought a pound of cream mints and several were on the dry side. They sent me a whole new pound container free of charge. Amazing! By the way, the cream mints are delicious. I have to shout out what I believe is the best Fudge on the Wildwood Boardwalk! I have tried every fudge store on the boardwalk and this is the best one. Its soft and creamy! Their store is also the most inviting! It has that old school nostalgic feel when you walk inside. The doesn't do anything to the fudge, but it makes me feel warm and special inside! Whenever we are on the boardwalk we usually bring half the store home lol! They have amazing fudge! I am partial to their celebration one. Their chocolate in general is amazing. Its so chocolatey and creamy! I enjoy their chocolate covered potato chips as well as their chocolate covered pretzels. My wife and I also love their salt water taffy. We usually go through a half pound on the way home lol! I think that they have 13 different flavors. All super sticky like you expect it to be lol! I patrolled the boardwalk yesterday looking for a Carmel apple with nuts before hitting the road home. It's obvious by many of the stores and attractions being closed places were still operating with in the realm of the slow season so it was a hard find. I stopped in this location originally for saltwater taffy hoping they had some loose sugar free selections as well as regular ones so I could mix and match for gifts to family at home. To my surprise they also had a Carmel apple with nuts so I purchased it. Unfortunately I ate a few bites of it when I got home and it just didn't seem to taste right. Few hours later I ended up violently ill with food poisoning from it. That apple wasn't fresh and it must of been sitting for some time I guess to avoid waste and loosing money. My point in this review is buyer beware this location obviously doesn't mind letting something old sit until it sells. read more

I was told this place was a classic and we had to stop here. The chocolate was good and just the smell alone ( through my mask) was intoxicating. When walking on the boardwalk visiting Ocean City, New Jersey this past June, I received a free sample outside of Douglas' fudge shop of their vanilla fudge, and it was so phenomenal, I went in the store to buy some. Now I will say, I consider myself a fudge connoisseur! I buy it everywhere I go and sample it everywhere I go because I love it! The vanilla fudge that I sampled was the best I had ever had - it was so smooth and so creamy it melted in your mouth like butter! So, I went in the store and sampled some other flavors and ended up getting 2 pounds of the vanilla, milk chocolate, and peanut butter as they were all fabulous! I ended up going in there every day for the week I was there, to the point where they started recognizing me when I walked in! LOL! The staff is so friendly and make you feel like family! I also love that fudge is covered behind the case because a lot of the other fudge shops I went into on the Jersey boardwalk do not cover it and often times you will see nats or fruit flies flying around that land on it behind the case (a big no no for me)! I am actually going back next week and this will be my first stop on the boardwalk! For decades, my family was a Laura's Fudge family and I just didn't like fudge. Period. Fast forward to 2015 when I was very pregnant and very into fudge (go figure?), I decided to go on a hunt for the best fudge in Wildwood. I sampled fare from every establishment up on those legendary boards. If they had fudge for sale, I was in there sampling. And somewhere along that excursion: Enter Douglass. And that could be the end of the story right there. I sampled, fell in love, and never looked back. But I'll divulge a bit more. I have successfully turned my whole family into a Douglass Fudge family. They all agree that the texture and flavors are far superior to any of the other fudge peddlers on the boardwalk.. or in all of Wildwood for that matter. They love the buy two pounds, get one free deal. After following Douglass on Facebook, I became more aware of the other delicious treats they make and sell in their stores and decided to give a few a try. Coconut milk chocolate cups, buttery toffee, pecan clusters, molasses paddles. Somebody stop me. EVERYTHING I have eaten has been sensational. I even remarked, out loud, "I should have bought so much more of this." My husband just looked at me and shook his head. So.. I now have a stronger love of Douglass and a stronger need for a diet. I highly recommend trying the innumerable delicious treats at this fine establishment, but also offer a word of caution that your pants will grow tighter and your mid-section a bit rounder. ;) Worth it. read more

I have loved Douglass Candies, but lately my orders are not great. The pistachio fudge tasted like mint and the macaroons were the smallest I have ever seen them. The box looked like someone ate some before gifting. It was meant to be a gift and I was embarrassed to gift it looking like that. The caramel popcorn was stale as well. Shipping was fast but they didn't provide me with a tracking number until I inquired. Peanut butter fudge was delicious as always. Love how soft the fudge is. read more

I've been visiting wildwood yearly for over twenty years and oddly I've never ventured into Douglass fudge. On my last trip this past weekend I completely regret not coming inside earlier. Typically I purchase my fudge from a different store on the boardwalk but I was drawn to come inside after I saw a lady dipping fresh bright red strawberries in this creamy milk chocolate from the window! On a side note there AC is blasting, and when it's hot on the boardwalk it is very much appreciated. The next day I went back and they were sold out of chocolate covered strawberries...so I waited it out for a few hours and kept busy after I ordered a pound. Typically they start dipping after 4 so if you're leaving early and you want to take a pound to go possibly notify them the day before or think of another alternative because waiting is not fun. The chocolate strawberries, heavenly so worth it! They pack it in this cute, correction absolutely adorable box with a golden bow like contraption. I also highly recommend the pecan clusters with dark chocolate and the dark chocolate almond bark, which I wish I bought more of. The staff is very accommodating and sweet! SO, conclusion get the chocolate covered strawberries (they only have milk chocolate; not dark). Dark chocolate almond clusters; buy a pound. As for the fudge, it's very good but I have my personal favorite spot on the boardwalk that's hard to compete with so while I did try Douglass fudge it didn't hit home. Still very good quality chocolate and fudge. Looking forward to becoming a yearly costumer! read more

It's like a 1970's Christmas shop in here. But, don't worry, they have tons of yummo treats like fresh hand cut fudge (duh), salt water taffy, chocolate covered pretzels and tons more. My tip is to hit this place up last, right before you leave the boardwalk so your goodies don't melt on the way home. Unless you just eat them all there, that's fun too! The carpet is mesmerizing and the lady statue in the front... well just don't look her in the eye. Towards the end of the summer they have a blowout sale, best time to stock up! read more

People just don't run a business like this anymore and I mean it as a huge compliment. I ordered some taffy online when they were having a sale. When I opened the box, there was a handwritten note in it that said, "Thank you for your order, enjoy your taffy, The Douglass Family." No one does that anymore! When I tasted the taffy, I was sold. I have never had any better. It's just not a NJ summer without taffy and I was so happy. I also visited the store in Stone Harbor. When I walked in, the man making the fudge came out from behind the counter, greeted me and showed me all of their products. Again, who does that anymore? I bought some more taffy, fudge and caramel corn as gifts. My niece said the caramel corn was the best she's ever eaten wanted to know where it was from so she could get more! I am a sucker for great customer service and when you match it with great products, you get my undying loyalty. Here's to another 100 years. read more

The hardest thing about going to Douglass Fudge is keeping yourself from buying everything in the store. The rich fudge, chocolate-covered pretzels and other gourmet candies are the best around, and you can tell they're homemade and fresh. Douglass Fudge's staff is wonderful and friendly, and they love making recommendations to customers with a sweet tooth. (Like yours truly.) Not only do I have to make several stops here every summer, I make a point of placing online orders for friends and family every holiday season. Now they're all hooked on this place too. I've also had friends use them for events, like giving out adorable candies for bridal showers and wedding favors, for a delicious taste of the Jersey Shore. Forget the fudge. It's good. It's in the name. Forget the Salt Water Taffy. It's good too. Forget everything else in the store, it's all good. The molasses paddles though... Woah... Absolutely the best. The molasses candy is top notch and the dark chocolate coating just adds the perfect combination to this paddle. I wanted to send my father who now resides in Florida for the winter a birthday present and thought this as the perfect gift since he has been going to Wildwood with the family for over 50 years and always made it a point to stop in at Douglass'. I ordered on line on March 12th and received a confirmation email with a order number. On March 27th I sent an email asking for the status of the order and again on April 4th. I called today to check on the order and their number was disconnected.
