We stumbled upon this place while driving around town just checking things out. We hopped out of the car into the rain to see what they had.... The man and lady working there were very nice and friendly. There were so many flavor options to choose from. I wanted to try to so many of them! They had gluten free options as well as sugar free. We also paid $10 to use their parking lot in the back for the few hours we were visiting. Always a great experience here. I've been coming to Laura's with my family for nearly 50 years. Today will be my last visit. It's not because the candy has changed -- it's because the store has chosen to prioritize harassment of customers over reasonable parking enforcement. We parked in the free 15-minute parking. My wife went inside to get our chocolates while I briefly ran to Douglas to pick up my father a molasses paddle. I returned, purchased salt water taffy from Laura's, and met my family as they were finishing their order. Total time parked: 8 minutes. As we walked to our car, a parking lot employee confronted us, demanding payment because I had briefly gone to Douglas. This did not cause the store any loss in revenue, nor did we exceed the time limit. When I called his supervisor to explain, I was met with a condescending lecture about how people "take advantage" of their parking. I reminded him of our decades of patronage and that we were well within the posted time. He simply did not care. Laura's needs to decide whether they want to keep long-time loyal customers or enforce their 15-minute policy in a way that alienates them. Today, they lost ours. We were coming off the boardwalk and stopped in to pick up fudge. Sadly I wish we went somewhere else! The store seemed to be run very unprofessionally with little kids working behind the counter. There was a long line of people but they were sort of selectively picking who they were going to help next, based on people they knew... When we finally ordered we got: maple, vanilla and a vanilla with caramel. We have no idea which was which! They all looked and tasted exactly the same; very disappointing! We have been getting Laura's fudge multiple times a year for the past 20 years whenever we visit Wildwood. This year after our vacation we had a craving and decided to order it online. When we received it the chocolate was completely melted into a puddle in the packaging. There was absolutely no attempt to keep it cool during shipping. When we called the store to complain a rude employee told us they were not responsible for shipping, there was a disclaimer on their website, and their boss would definitely not give any form of refund. I have searched the site everywhere and cannot find any disclaimer about shipping. In my opinion their customer service is pathetic, we will definitely never buy anything from Laura's again. Laura's is a staple of Wildwood - with the Pepto Bismol pink walls visible just a few feet off the heart of the Boardwalk. Inside the store, the smell of freshly-made candy wafts through the air. The setup has been the same for decades - a center island with various taffy flavors, a long wall of pre-boxed chocolates, a pick your own candy section, and a glass case with more customized morsels. I've dabbled amongst the goodies in every section, and they all are delicious. I will say that although the namesake is fudge, my favorite treats here are the milk chocolate-covered marshmallows and taffy. I think Laura's does an exceptional job with their sweets, but tends to make a bit TOO sweet for my taste. The other thing to mention is that the staff is always friendly and relaxed, representing the Beach life well. Many of the staff have been there for years, so it feels like visiting family each time you make another trip. What a great way to end (or start) a day at the Boards! read more

I'm giving two stars because the young women who waiting on me and my 86yo Mom were kind and patient and I tipped well. After Mom and I spent a combined total over $100, We go outside the store where we are greeted by my 63 yo special needs brother who says the kid in the parking lot took/demanded $10 from him. Mark and our nephew went to Mack's pizza while Mom and I went in the candy store. They were much quicker than we were. I talk to the kid who says parking is for Laura's fudge ONLY! I say, we were in Laura's. Yes, but they went to Mack's. So I went in Laura's to get this straightened out. The manager comes out and says it's because of people like me, who take advantage of their kindness, that they had to change their policy. The conversation continued in that manner. It's very sad. We spent a lot of money in a very short span of time. If we had dropped Mark and Andrew off down the street, and then picked them up after, we wouldn't have been charged. But THAT makes me feel like we are being sneaky and taking advantage. From now on, we just won't park or shop at Laura's. read more

I've been coming here for decades since I was a child and we lived in Wildwood for months at a time. Decided to try the fudge like when I was a child, the small sample box which was $5.00 with 4 sample, was good but not real fresh, I should have gotten fresh fudge. We also got a box of vanilla Carmela which was $11.25, the box wasn't full and only contained 12 of them. The Carmel's were good but not great, not a lot of flavor, boring Carmel. Nothing better than fudge when you're at the shore! Laura's has been around as long as I remember. It's my favorite out of all. There's locations in Wildwood and Ocean City. The Wildwood location is a large store right off the boardwalk lit up by a big neon sign. The store is bright and spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. While the fudge is the star, there's also lots of chocolate candy to buy by the piece or pound as well as novelty candy. The chocolate covered pretzels are one of my faves! The pretzel is enrobed in dark delicious chocolate for a salty, sweet sensation. The fudge is creamy and chocolate with just the right consistency. The vanilla is also delicious. If you choose to get it with the nuts, the nuts are soft and add another flavor dimension. The Best Buy is 2lbs for $19.89 or 4 lbs for $38. It makes a great souvenir or gift! read more

There are at least 4 fudge/candy stores in the area, but i went to Laura's based on a friend's recommendation. I was surprised there wasn't a crowd and there were so many varieties of fudge. There was also special pricing for a pound: I was able to get the chocolate birthday cake, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate chip and maple walnut flavors. So as we're walking down the boardwalk with every choice of fudge place you can imagine, I can't help but notice this place. It just looks like a place from the outside that you want to get fudge from. The look draws you in. OK, maybe it just draws me in. I got a kick out of the exterior. We got a good sampling of the fudge and found it to be perfect. Our friends who sampled the fudge throughout our weekend trip with us also raved about it. They just make the perfect piece of fudge, both in texture and flavor. And while I was here, I ran into the chocolate covered bacon. A friend raved about this after his last trip here, and I believe this is the place he got it. Curiosity got the better of me and I tried a piece. Here's what I noticed. I will now say that I consider chocolate covered bacon too much of a good thing. Being a bacon lover, and being a chocolate lover, I will say the two flavors were ok together, but they don't seem to truly belong together. Plus, with the bacon being covered, you lose the bacon crispiness that really makes bacon good. I was not a fan necessarily. But I will also say that I noticed that the chocolate that covered the bacon was really damn good. If I had the chocolate solo, it would be some pretty special chocolate. They get 5 stars because they do what they do really well, and they did have fantastic customer service. read more

Hands down Laura's fudge is one of the best made. Anyone who comes to Wildwood is told by the friends and family to pick them up some Laura's fudge. Call me crazy but for years I wad eating was the vanilla because it's incredible. I'm not a big fan of chocolate but I did try something I have to say it was delicious. I also had the rocky road and chocolate marshmallow both were so good words can not do it justice. Really people come on and try it you will love it. Glad I found this place. With so many filthy fudge shops on the board walk and one even trying to give you a slimy melted sample with sand in it in the summer heat lauras was a refreshing sight. Very clean and cool inside nothing was melted or sandy. Staff was very friendly and I liked that they had different confections under the counter besides just fudge. Let me start by saying I go here every year with my family to purchase fudge, candy etc. which is why I didn't want to leave one star after my experience 2 days ago. Everything was going great, I asked to try a sample of vanilla nut fudge from a girl with blonde hair - I purchased a pound after trying, and also a bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels, but purchased it from a different girl. My family was still shopping and I saw that they had peanut butter fudge which also sounded good, but I like to try things before purchasing so this way I can make sure I want to buy it. I asked the girl with the blonde hair if I could try a sample of the peanut butter fudge, and she became very rude and nodded her head no and literally lifted up her finger and said "one sample only" I was honestly taken back and was shocked, because she just lost a sale - not only did I just make a purchase, but I would have made another had I liked the peanut butter fudge (which I'm sure I would have.) it's not like I was asking for much - Laura's fudge definitely disappointed me this year with the rude customer service, because the girls rude attitude continued towards my family after I asked for the peanut butter sample. Hopefully they'll see this review and correct the situation and encourage their employees to do better, especially when it comes to people who are actually buying their products and are interested in more. read more
