I've been to Doug's place twice and enjoyed my experience both times. First off the service is excellent. Incredibly friendly and fun. Orders are taken promptly and there is always someone walking around to refill tea and/or water. The food is delicious. Homemade southern comfort food at its finest. The friend chicken is it excellent. Super crispy and juicy on the inside. Great biscuits, too! I had a burger my second trip and it was okay. I've definitely had better but it was good quality meat and the toppings were very fresh. Sweet tea is SWEET SWEET tea. I'm new to the south so I'm not sure if this is normal or if there's is on the extra sweet side. It's really good but I suggest mixing the sweet with the unsweetened. There is a gorgeous new addition with a lovely dining area. Lots of small town feel to it. The original dining space is small but cozy and feels very local. Overall I would recommend and will definitely be back again.

Sometimes you have to veer off the highway to get some good breakfast! I'm so glad I did. Doug's place was cute and seemed to have been recently upgraded. Still had the great country farmhouse interior and the bathroom was very nice! I ordered the western omelet which was loaded with a ton of peppers, onions and ham. The biscuit was fresh and tasted like a country biscuit should. Our server was sweet and food arrived fast.

Fried chicken livers, collard greens, and pinto beans with a biscuit

The food was amazing, you have to have one of their biscuits. The people are welcoming, and we had great service on top of that. There can be a wait during peak hours, but they offer an air conditioning waiting area. It's a good size restaurant so you don't have to wait very long. I had the fried chicken livers with collard greens and pinto beans and my sister had the fried chicken on the same sides. The biscuits are absolutely amazing, but they also offer cornbread. Breakfast lunch and dinner is served. You can't go wrong with Doug's place.

This local hub of country cooking is where the elite eat. Multimillion-dollar deals have been hashed out here (LakePoint, maybe Amazon centers and more) over biscuits and gravy or meat-and-threes. @Marksullins upped the ante when he bought the Emerson landmark and it shows (expansions and updates). Our first visit was way overdue but it was a perfect 'tween holidays stop. Food. Fried chicken livers, turnip greens and pintos beans with corn bread. Plate no. 2: Green beans, sliced tomatoes, macaroni and cheese with Texas toast. We needed something healthy after all the Christmas dining. All was good but livers could have been a bit warmer. Star of the show: the greens. Atmosphere: perfect. Embraces local history and culture amid perfect updates. That is why, even at 3:30 p.m. on a drizzly Friday, the place was filled with families and couples. Service: Good. Could be a bit more attentive (water refills). Cost: great. Two meals and tip, $26. Bottom line: glad to dine local. We'll be back to try breakfast soon.

I came here with a large group and they were so good to us! We had all placed our orders in advance so they could work on prepping ahead of time. I got the pork loins with rice and gravy with macaroni and cheese and fried potato wedges. I did have a bit of an issue with getting a drink at the beginning- I ordered a coke but the mix tasted off to me so I tried a Dr. Pepper and had the same issue. I eventually settled on an unsweetened tea. However, the waitstaff was very attentive so this was resolved quickly. The food also came out very quickly. It was no sooner than we had sat down that they were already bringing out the first plates. I believe our group was at least 30 people and they were so speedy with the service. Especially since we had a specific time slot and we ended up coming early. I think my favorite part of my meal was the fried potato wedges. My pork loins were very succulent and juicy. The rice was a bit on the mushy side for me so I didn't eat too much of it. And then we finished up with a banana pudding. The portion they gave you was so much! And it was so good. We had an amazing experience and would definitely come back in the future!

A classic!! No place like Doug's. The recent renovation have brought the place up to date but the food is still as good as it was 20 years ago. Smoked pork was flavorful and moist, Mac and cheese was creamy, collards were nice and tender. Cornbread was a little dry and server didn't really check on us after we got our food. Still a great meal!

We were surprised that this place was, overall, over the top. We immediately felt at home. The people were welcoming and friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The food was super delicious; it tasted so good that I felt like my grandma was in the kitchen cooking. We strongly recommend this place for some of the best Southern food. The atmosphere was cozy and nice.

We absolutely love Doug's Place! The food and service never disappoint. We ordered a bacon breakfast plate and a country ham breakfast plate. The food was prepared fresh to order and served piping hot. We ordered a cinnamon roll to go so don't miss out on that! Our waitress brought it to our table before our food arrived because she didn't want us to miss it in case they ran out. How sweet is that! They only make them on weekends. If you're going down I-75 and are near exit 283 you gotta stop. They also have a fabulous lunch menu with meat and veggies.

Got a chance to visit the original Doug's Place today in Emerson, Georgia for an upcoming article with Cartersville Living-Best Version Media. This place has lots of nostalgia for me as in my younger years, I used to come here often when I was working in the area. Great place and some good southern food. Place looks completely different now and place is beautiful for sure and they did a great job honoring the history through decor and pictures, etc. throughout the building as well. If ever in the area it's a must stop for sure near Cartersville, Georgia Y-Not Georgia Bbq #whatshappeningincartersvillega #localeats #dougsplace #southerncooking #southernfood #supportlocal #cartersville #forksupBartow #cartersvilleliving #cartersvillega #cartersvillegeorgia

It was a Saturday night but we were a little on the earlier side for dinner so the wait was less than 30 minutes. WELL worth the wait! The atmosphere is fun and casual. I ate way too much for sure but it was hard to stop! I ordered the Chicken Ooh La La with angel hair pasta and added on a side salad. I tried the ginger citrus (house) dressing and wasn't sure what to expect but I was very pleased. Not overpowering ... perfect mix of ginger and citrus. The Chicken Ooh La La was excellent as well and needless to say I took most of it with me. My husband ordered the Poo Boy (half portion) with fries. He said it was excellent as well and the half portion was just enough. Service was excellent as well. The young lady that waited on us was super friendly and accommodating. The staff also comes around in NOLA fashion and throws beads on you which was a fun experience. I would definitely return to Henry's but for now I look forward to my leftovers tomorrow!

And the portions versus the price point seemed very reasonable to me. Served on a Niedlov's (Bakery in Chattanooga) grilled artisan hoagie bun. It was delicious. Crunchy crust and a tender moist fillet on the inside. And that Creamy Dreamy slaw was amazing. Their Fried Chicken Tacos is a must try too. Three hot chicken tenders in four tortillas, topped with corn salsa, cojita cheese, and jalapeño lime ranch. It was an Oh My Gosh experience. They have a very nice outside covered patio that's pet friendly and it all sits on a very large parcel with nice greenery and impressive landscaping. And it looks like they do a very brisk take out business too as I seen many orders being picked up. Awesome cocktails, attentive and responsive service all at a fair price. Definitely a place you want to check out.
