I came across this birth center very unexpectedly, and I truly believe God wanted me to be in the care of Jordan and Stephanie. During my first pregnancy, we took a class at Pure Birth near the end of my pregnancy and loved everything we learned--especially the importance of avoiding an epidural for both the mother and the baby. However, at the time, I didn't feel ready to have an unmedicated birth, so we chose a hospital birth for our first daughter. When I found out I was pregnant with our second, I knew deep down that I wanted the least amount of intervention possible--for both myself and my baby. I called what I thought was Pure Birth, and to my surprise, it was SCV birth center. Trusting that God always knows best, I followed that path, and I can honestly say He did not disappoint like always The center itself is smaller, which immediately made me feel safe, confident, and truly at home. Stephanie and Jordan are incredibly kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They take the time to truly listen, to reassure you whenever needed, and to explain everything with such clarity and care. Every appointment felt easy, personal, and completely stress-free. The birth itself was absolutely perfect--I could honestly write an entirely separate review just about that experience alone. I cannot thank these two women enough for everything they did for me and my family. I wholeheartedly recommend SCV birth center to anyone seeking an unmedicated, empowering, and deeply supported birth experience.

If you are looking for the best birthing experience of your life, stop you have found your place…read more My daughter is now 6 months and I credit Renee, Andrea & our bonus midwife... for making my experience seamless and beautiful. I have soooooo much to say! For starters, you have a concierge health experience. Every appointment was met with intention yet an openness to answer any thing your heart desires. When you find women in birth work that are aligned with their life purpose you find an amazing environment. Renee and Andrea take the time to educate you! They allow you to make informed decisions without judgement or coercion. They even helped me find a birthing class and helped us find a fitting pediatrician. I plan on having more kids and I can't imagine giving birth any where else. One of my favorite memories, after delivering my daughter you come back for an appointment close to your 1 week mark. Ours happened to be day 4. They taught me how to sideline breastfeed. What a game changer!!! As a first time mom, I was incredibly grateful for the guidance. They actually took me to one of the delivery rooms and allowed me to nurse and practice in real time so I could ask questions. I know so many women who quit breastfeeding because no one took the time to give them the basics, encourage them or just let them understand that there would be moments it hurts but to hang in there. If you are debating on where to start your prenatal care, you are already in the right place, make the call! Trust me, one of the best decisions of my life! -Latoya Lyn & Baby Violet

From the beginning, I loved that they focused on natural options, education, and helping me feel confident and informed throughout my pregnancy. They're very upfront that they don't offer epidurals, but honestly, the way they empowered and prepared me made such a difference. When it was finally time to give birth, I KNEW I could do it without one...and I did! ‍ The entire staff was amazing, supportive, and genuinely cared about me and my baby. They do have stricter requirements than a hospital, but I came to understand that it's because they want to make sure every mom is in the safest position possible to receive the best care. I'm so grateful for the experience, the education, the support, and especially for getting the birth experience I always prayed for. From my very first prenatal appointment through postpartum care, every midwife made me feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. As a first time mom, I had countless questions, and this team always answered them with patience, kindness, and without judgment. A special thank you to Midwife Angela, who delivered our son. Throughout my labor, she demonstrated an incredible balance of clinical skill, calm confidence, and compassion. When I became dehydrated and experienced cervical swelling that was actually working against dilation, she carefully monitored both me and my baby and allowed us the time and space we needed at the birth center rather than rushing interventions. She diligently checked our baby's heart rate throughout labor and remained calm and reassuring every step of the way. When it came time to push, there was a moment when our baby's heart rate dropped significantly. Angela calmly encouraged me to give one strong push, and with that push, our son entered the world safely. It's a moment I'll never forget, and I'm incredibly grateful for her guidance and expertise. After delivery, I needed stitches for a tear, and Angela repaired them with such care and gentleness. Even during one of the most physically demanding experiences of my life, she managed to keep the atmosphere light with her wonderful sense of humor, which helped me more than she probably realizes. I'm also so thankful for Midwife Tiffany, who came during the hardest part of my labor to offer encouragement and then to welcome our baby into the world. Her support meant so much during those moments. This entire midwife team provided so much more than medical care - they offered reassurance, tender hands, respect for my choices, and unwavering support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They helped make my first birth experience one that I will always look back on with gratitude. Thank you for helping us safely welcome our beautiful baby boy into the world. We will always be grateful.

My…read moremother had passed away just one year earlier, and as a 38-year-old first-time mom, I felt lost without her guidance. I remember sharing that with Chavah early in my pregnancy, and from that moment on, she cared for me with a level of compassion and sensitivity that I will never forget. Before I even chose a midwife, I prayed for guidance. Then I opened Yelp, and Chavah was the very first midwife I called. After speaking with her on the phone, I didn't search any further. Looking back now, five months postpartum, I truly know she was an answer to my prayer. Chavah cared for us from the very beginning of my pregnancy--around three months along--through birth and into those precious first weeks postpartum. Throughout every appointment, she was wise, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to educate us, answer our endless first-time-parent questions, and guide us through each stage with confidence and reassurance. One thing that especially touched us was her willingness to go above and beyond when life threw us an unexpected curveball. Midway through my pregnancy, my husband and I had to relocate, moving about 70 miles away. Most people would have understandably referred us elsewhere, but Chavah generously agreed to keep us on as clients. We were so grateful. Those extra miles meant more to us than she probably realizes. Our pregnancy was healthy and uncomplicated. The only bump in the road was that I needed an iron boost, and Chavah quickly connected us with excellent care for a couple of iron transfusions. Her experience and attentiveness gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands every step of the way. When it came time to give birth, Chavah was absolutely amazing. She created an environment where I felt informed, supported, and in control. Well... as much control as a woman can feel while temporarily visiting another dimension during contractions. Thankfully, our son had places to be and arrived after just five hours of active labor, making his debut before lunchtime. Today, we are five months postpartum and have a healthy, thriving baby boy. I've intentionally taken my time writing this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on our experience and express just how grateful we are. Chavah brought wisdom when I needed guidance, encouragement when I felt uncertain, and compassion when I was grieving. She cared for not only my physical health, but my emotional well-being too. I honestly cannot imagine a better midwife experience. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I would choose Chavah again without hesitation. Knowing she would be part of our care would bring immediate peace of mind. Thank you, Chavah, for everything you did for our family--and for so much more than was ever required. Unfortunately, they didn't work with my schedule. My main concern being a new mom was breastfeeding. I went online and tried finding a doula who would offer me a private class. Alas, I found Cali. What immediately impressed me was how quick she responded to my intro email. She was open to come over to my house, teach me the basics about breastfeeding and offer her advice postpartum. Cali was helpful, professional, and caring. Having my first baby with Cali's support made the experience that much better. So glad I found Cali!

It wasn't long until we felt very overwhelmed by all the decisions and challenges that faced us. One of our friends recommended that we hire a doula to help us with the process... and so the search began. We met with a few different doulas, however as soon as we met Cali, we knew she was the perfect fit for our growing family. We felt very comfortable with her, she was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and her beliefs aligned with ours about the ideal birth. In addition, she offered us private parenting classes since our schedules were always conflicting with the hospital's classes we were interested in taking. In all of our meetings before the birth, Cali came prepared and ready to work. However, I always felt like I was meeting with a good friend. When my water broke 1 month early, Cali dropped everything to be at my side (even though it was her birthday!!) She even came to our house first to help pack for the hospital, keep me calm until my husband got home from work, and even installed our car seat (since we were so unprepared for such an early arrival!) I was a little unsure that I was going to be able to follow the birth plan we had put together, to keep things all natural, with no medical intervention, but with Cali's help, I was! She was calm and encouraging through my entire labor, and provided support for my husband as he coached me through a successful, all natural birth. We could not be more grateful. After the birth, Cali constantly checked in on us, and offered advice and help when we were having some difficulties with breast-feeding during her postpartum visit. We are so thankful that we can look back on our labor in a positive light, and we have Cali to thank for that. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a Doula.

We were in their care for our first pregnancy and they made us feel so much care and love throughout. I loved having a personal connection with them. We really enjoyed every appointment and I'm really sad we have "graduated" out of care and moving on to our pediatrician/family doctor. A few things that stood out and I particularly appreciated about their practice: 1. Their office is small and cozy and a few minutes from our home. 2. Labs were ran through an in network provider, so I didn't have to pay out of pocket. Even though they are not in-network with anyone. Also results always came back super fast. 3. They have referrals for just about everything related to pregnancy and postpartum and some in-network providers. 4. Most appts are an hour long and they are extremely responsive/communication is always top tear. 5. They are also lactation specialist, so no need to hire someone else if you need help or have questions once baby is born. 6. They are a great balance of holistic/western medicine and have a great relationship with Ventura County Medical if you need to go to the hospital for any reason at any time during your pregnancy, delivery or postpartum. 7. They are super down to earth, funny and relatable! We will def. be reaching out again for future pregnancies! Love them!

We left each prenatal visit excited and without worry. They are both so knowledgeable and have great energy. My birth experience was so special. They came to my house early morning and by early afternoon my son was in my arms. Maggie coached me through contractions on the phone allowing me to relax until they arrived. Once they arrived at my home, they set up quietly and quickly making sure not to disturb me. Throughout my labor, they massaged my back with essential oils and made sure I stayed hydrated and energized with water, juice, and snacks. They encouraged me as I pushed and helped move me into different positions when things got tough for me. When my boy was born, they handed him directly to me for skin-to-skin. Within the first two weeks after the birth of my son, Maggie and Andrea helped educate us on tongue ties(while still recommending we do our additional research). They referred us to a specialist who successfully cut our son's ties(tongue and lip). We saw Andrea and Maggie shortly after and they were able to demonstrate how to properly stretch the wounds. At about 5 weeks postpartum, I went to the emergency room for pain and ended up getting surgery to remove my gallbladder. While I was in the hospital my son ran out of breast milk. My husband reached out to our midwives and they were able to help us get donor milk. Once I was released, I noticed a dip in my milk supply and they saw us for two additional visits to help me increase my supply and then to confirm our baby was transferring enough milk. Andrea and Maggie are wonderful midwives with so much knowledge. They truly care about the families in their care, not just the moms and babies but the dads too. I am so lucky I found them and would never do a birth with anyone else. If you or someone you know needs quality people on their care team, Andrea and Maggie are the best.

In a nutshell; Elena Khatibi is not the most well-known midwife in our community but I think she…read moredeserves to be. She is incredibly professional, experienced and knowledgeable. Everyone she works with is of the same caliber and if you are looking for a home-birth midwife in Santa Clarita or nearby, I cannot reccomend her more highly. Please contact me if you want to know more about my experience, but better yet, just call her and ask for recommendations and she will happily provide them. Elena actually invited me to lunch with her, her daughter and a client of hers who was having a third baby with Elena's assistance. I decided to go and meet her and she had a lot of humility, she was not trying to sell me her services, but she let her client tell me about her experiences with her. Her client told me Elena was probably THE most experienced midwife in our community (though perhaps not the most well known). She told me Elena was a licensed physician in Mexico, so she brought that comprehensive background of medical knowledge to her midwifery practice. She could handle situations that might arise in a home-birth that other local midwives would need to transfer over. She could also perform procedures at a home birth that other midwives would usually be uncomfortable with. Part of why I was confident in choosing Elena was that her other client had already had two babies with her and she was having a third with Elena! She also explained that she'd had a child with another midwife but she wished she'd been able to do it with Elena (Elena had been out of the country when she got pregnant). Elena came to my home for my prenatal visits and of course, she did all the same things the OB had been doing to ensure that I was healthy, and the baby was healthy and low risk, so we could continue toward having our home birth. She reviewed my medical record which I obtained from my OB (who I'd been seeing for prenatal visits until about halfway through my pregnancy). When she would visit she'd check my urine, my heartbeat and the baby's. She'd measure my belly and check the position of the baby (which the OB I saw never did). She had the equipment to do a non-stress test if necessary but I never needed it. She discussed the stages of labor and did as much preparation with me as she could (I had 6 prenatal visits with her). She was thorough and careful and I have to say I was much more comfortable having exams in my bedroom at home than on a table with stirrups at the Obstetricians office! She predicted I'd go one or two weeks past my estimated due date (and she was exactly right). Elena has student-midwives who assist her when she's "catching" babies. Elena monitored both myself and the baby throughout. My labor "stalled" four hours before the baby was born. When we figured out I'd stalled, the doula/student midwife who was going to assist Elena arrived and helped me get through to 10 cm dilated and I began pushing. Everyone who I met, who worked with Elena, was knowledgeable and AMAZING; this doula was no exception (look for a review of Enlightened Birth Service, which I will do soon). Toward the end of my pushing was when I was really grateful for Elena's ability and experience because the baby had the cord around her neck and when she realized I'd been pushing and pushing, but the cord was counteracting all my hard work - she decided that , along with other factors, like my swelling cervix, meant I'd need an episiotomy to help me deliver the baby without a transfer to the hospital. She quickly did the cuts when I was pushing through a contraction - and I didn't even know she'd done it until later! She acted with a great deal of wisdom and prevented a transfer to the hospital because of her ability to handle situations like this, that other midwives wouldn't feel comfortable with. Again, I cannot more highly recommend Elena Khatibi, LM. She should be more well known in our community as an example of excellence in midwifery, I will work with her again when I have another baby without any hesitation.

The days leading up to the labor didn't make me realize how great Elena...but once labor started, we felt that having Elena as our Midwife (and not anyone other certified Midwife) was a major blessing to our goal of a natural birth. Any other MIdwife hired to help us would have sent us to a doctor due to my girlfriends complications...but not Elena because... Elena was a Doctor in Mexico. Our baby was posterior & tilted. Elena was able to fix the tilt during contractions & fix the posterior position of the baby to the correct position during the pushing stages of birth. Elena also had to make a slit in the vaginal wall due to the baby being too big, and was able to sow her up afterwards, allowing us no visits to the hospital until we were ready to sign up with an Obstetrician. If we have another child again, we would not hire any other Midwife...we would not feel as safe as having Elena Khatibi as our Midwife due to her Midwife license/knowledge & due to her Doctor's experience & license from Mexico. The acupuncture helped almost immediately, and I was amazed at how much relief I got after just a short time. After seven months of trying without success, I decided to see Dr. Susan again and began going weekly for about three months before becoming pregnant with our second baby. Dr. Susan was so much more than an acupuncturist... she was compassionate, patient, and genuinely cared about how I was doing. She always took the time to listen, never made me feel rushed, and created such a peaceful, calming environment away from the hustle and bustle of work and home life. Those appointments became a place where I could truly relax, reconnect with my body, and find a sense of peace during a very difficult season. I wanted to feel supported and try for a VBAC for my second birth so I decided to work with Andrey for the birth of our daughter. Everything went good at the beginning, we had our in person interview, shortly after that meeting we decided we would be a fit for each other. After that she came over one more time and afterwards she told me she had a family oversees she was working with and would be available via phone/zoom and if needed to she would introduce me to a back up doula incase she wasn't back in time for my birth. The way she introduced us was thru text (no phone call or even an effort to do a zoom call so me and that back up doula could meet each other) no professionalism. My prenatal care was very limited nothing close to what Andrey promotes. Then I asked for a list of what to bring in my birth bag, she said she would send, I had to ask about 4 times until she sent and the reason I didn't get it was because she had sent it to a 'Victoria' how do you forget your clients name especially when you are a part of one of the most vulnerable times in their life. Fast forward to my birth Andrey ended up not being there. I ended up working with the back up doula & my first time meeting her and talking to her was her walking in my room while I laid in my bed clothe-less in pain as I was going thru my contractions (not the most ideal setting to meet someone for the first time who is going to be a part of a raw and emotional intimate time) a few days later Andrey lets me know shes back in LA and is coming to see me & baby to help with postpartum care. Then texts me cancelling because her car is in the shop (She could've taken an Uber) and cannot make it and she can come another day. She comes over a couple days after that for a few hours and tells me she will be back @10am the next day to help us some more. The next morning @9:35am she txts me she cannot make it and isn't available until the following week. I had cancelled help from my sitter to help with my newborn and toddler and my husband had left to work because we had relied on having help from Andrey that morning. At that point I was feeling extremely upset. The care and support I was expecting which Andrey advocates heavily on was nowhere close to what I was given. What was supposed to be a time in my life where I should've been given unwavering love and support turned into a time of grief and sadness for me. I decided to have a conversation with Andrey and let her know how I was feeling and I no longer felt comfortable working together. She apologized and told me I was a client that 'fell thru the cracks.' Simply she overcommitted and I was put in the back burner or was her last option sadly. She offered to bring some postpartum stuff to help with grief and overall just to help me emotionally and would drop it off in the next couple days, she never did. Unfortunately Andrey constantly overpromised and underdelivered.
